ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Completion is nearing for the new International Bowling Campus, a $14 million project currently under way in Arlington. The more than 100,000-square-foot facility is situated near the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Texas Rangers Ballpark and Six Flags over Texas. Upon completion, which is expected in January, the complex will house the Bowling Museum & Hall of Fame and the International Training and Research Center. It will also served as the headquarters for the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America, the United States Bowling Congress and other industry groups.

UNIVERSAL CITY, TEXAS — Construction is complete for Northeast Lakeview College, a 285-acre college campus that is part of Alamo Colleges. The campus, which is located at the intersection of Loop 1604 and Kitty Hawk Road in Universal City, contains nine buildings totaling 375,500 square feet. Designed by San Antonio-based Overland Partners Architects in conjunction with Ford Powell Carson, the college was built over the past 4 years at a cost of $125 million. The general contractor was Austin Commercial and the construction manager was Broaddus & Associates.
SAN DIEGO — McCarthy Building Companies Inc. will construct the new 180,000-square-foot Math and Science Building at San Diego Mesa College, located at 7250 Mesa College Dr. in the Clairemont area of San Diego. Construction on the new $92 million instructional building is expected to begin in early September 2010, with completion slated for November 2012. Designed by Architects | Delawie Wilkes Rodrigues Barker for LEED certification, the facility will house four floors of classrooms, laboratory space and offices for the departments of biology, chemistry, mathematics and physical sciences.
LAUDERHILL, FLA. — The Fort Lauderdale-based companies Moss & Associates and D. Stephenson Construction have completed the $13.1 million Lauderhill Municipal Complex. The property, which was constructed to LEED Silver standards, is located at 5581 W. Oakland Park Blvd. in Lauderhill. The building houses officers for the mayor, the city manager and city commissioners as well as a 150-seat Commission Chamber. Green features include low-flow fixtures and low-emission paints.
AURORA, ILL. — Leopardo Cos. has recently completed the $108 million Aurora Police Headquarters and Branch Court in Aurora. Located at 1200 E. Indian Trail, the facility houses 500 public safety employees, three bureaus, 11 police divisions, a 911-emergency call center and a branch court house. The campus consists of a 154,000-square-foot police headquarters building, which houses the branch court and the 911-emergency call center; a 41,000-square-foot training and support building that contains a firearms range, evidence storage and forensic examination laboratories; and a 204,000-square-foot, 500-car parking garage. The facility was designed and constructed to achieve LEED Gold Certification. McClaren, Wilson & Lawrie along with Cordogan Clark and Associates provided architectural services for the project.
VERO BEACH, FLA. — The School District of Indian River County has completed the development of its 167,500-square-foot Storm Grove Middle School in Vero Beach. The $34.3 million property is located at 6400 57th St. Each grade is separated into an individual building on the campus, which SchenkelShultz Architecture designed to achieve the LEED Gold guidelines for schools. The campus features a cafeteria, administration offices, a 9,000-square-foot cafeteria/multipurpose room and nine science labs.
BURIEN, WASH. — GVA Kidder Mathews has brokered Bonney-Watson’s sale of its Parker Chapel property to King County Fire District #2, which will use the site to build a new, state-of-the-art fire station. Dan Mathews of GVA Kidder Mathews represented both parties in the transaction.
CHICAGO — The Adler School of Professional Psychology has signed a 15-year lease for 100,796 square feet of office space at One North Dearborn Street in Chicago. The leased space includes the entire 15th and 16th floors as well as 2,500 square feet of ground-level space. The school plans to begin occupying the space on January 1, 2011. OWP/P Cannon Design is providing architectural services for the tenant build-out project, while Leopardo Cos. is serving as the general contractor. Phil Utigard and Scott Becker of Transwestern represented the Adler school; Kevin Purcell and Gary Denenberg of MB Real Estate represented the building ownership in the transaction.
WOLFEBORO, N.H. — Concord, N.H.-based North Branch Construction has been selected to complete a $16 million construction project at Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro. The project will include the construction of a 51,000-square-foot multi-purpose building that will include a 900-seat auditorium, classrooms and locker rooms. New synthetic and natural turf athletic fields will also be installed. Finally, a Geothermal Ground Heat Exchanger piping system will be installed throughout the entire campus. Completion is slated for December 2010. Manchester, N.H.-based CMK Architects is designing the project.
LOS ANGELES — In conjunction with Irvine, Calif.-based LPA Inc., McCarthy Building Companies Inc. will design-build a $79.9 million athletic complex at West Los Angeles College. Located on 20.5 acres, the athletic complex will include a main gymnasium facility; a fitness, recreation and aquatic center; a baseball park; and fields for soccer, baseball and softball. Part of the Los Angeles Community College District’s Sustainable Building Program, which is funded through Proposition A/AA and Measure J, the complex construction will strive for LEED Platinum certification.
