FAIR HAVEN, CONN. — Press/Cuozzo Realtors has brokered the sale of the former East Pearl Street United Methodist Church located at 95-99 E. Pearl St. in Fair Haven. The 7,929-square-foot church was constructed in 1873. It features a sanctuary with seating for more than 200 people, a kitchen and dining areas, a side ante room and second-floor recreation areas. It traded for $350,000. John Cuozzo, Jr. of Press/Cuozzo represented the seller, East Pearl Street United Methodist Church, as well as the buyer, The Pentacostal Church of God IM.

UNITY, N.H. — Groundbreaking has occurred for Phase II of the expansion of Sullivan County Community Corrections Center in Unity. This phase of construction will add approximately 20,000 square feet to the jail building, consisting of an additional 70 beds as well as areas for in-treatment and work release programs. Completion is slated for mid-2010. Phase I of the project is approximately 80 percent complete and should be finished by the end of the year. North Branch Construction is serving as construction manager, with Sheerr McCrystal Palson serving as project architect.

LINCOLN, CALIF. — Mercy Ministries of America has opened the doors of its first West Coast home, an approximately $6 million, 40-resident facility located just north of Sacramento at 1896 McClain Dr. in Lincoln. The Christian residential counseling program serves troubled girls and young women, ages 13 to 28. Offering a lead gift and operational support, The Buzz Oates Charitable Foundation, a Sacramento-area non-profit organization, was integral in making Mercy Ministries’ fourth home in the United States a reality.

WINDERMERE, FLA. — Orlando, Fla.-based Clancy & Theys Construction Co. has completed the $14.5 million Keene’s Crossing Elementary School for Orange County Public Schools. The property, which spans 101,639 square feet, is located at 5240 Keene’s Pheasant Dr. in Windermere. The property can accommodate 830 students and includes an administrative suite, two computer labs, a media center, a multipurpose room, a closed-circuit television studio and a music room. Orlando-based SchenkelShultz Architecture designed the space.

MONTEREY, CALIF. — Construction has started on Monterey Peninsula College’s new $9.4 million Student Services Center, a 24,000-square-foot facility designed by HGA Architects and Engineers. When completed in fall 2010, the center will house the college’s financial aid services, developmental disabilities support, registration and academic offices. Swinerton Builders is the general contractor on the project.

LAS VEGAS — CORE Construction has completed construction on the Mark L. Fine Elementary School at 6635 W. Cougar Ave. in southwest Las Vegas. An $18.7 million project designed by JMA Architecture Studios, the 68,875-square-foot, single-story school is situated on 30 acres and includes four blocks of classrooms, a multipurpose room, a library, enclosed exterior courtyards and playgrounds. CORE began construction on the school in September 2008.

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, ILL. — Christ United Methodist Church has selected locally owned IMPACT Strategies as general contractor for the church’s 8,000-square-foot nursery addition. The addition will be added to the existing building, which is located at 339 Frank Scott Blvd. in Fairview Heights. The new space will include an activity area, laundry facilities, standard nursery accommodations for infant care, and classrooms for religion studies. Gale Hill & Associates are providing architectural services for the project, which is slated for completion in March 2010.

PASADENA, CALIF. — Barnhart Inc. has completed a $48 million project for Pasadena City College involving the construction of a new 66,558-square-foot Industrial Technologies building and the renovation and expansion of the campus center and bookstore. The new building, which includes 15 laboratories, was designed by PBWS Architects, and the renovated 47,065-square-foot campus center was designed by LPA Inc. The campus center expansion also required the demolition of an existing one-story bookstore and construction of a newly designed two-story building to take its place.

OCALA, FLA. — Edwards Construction Services of Ocala is looking to a January completion of the Ocala International Airport Air Traffic Control Tower in Ocala. The eight-floor property will include offices, mechanical and electrical rooms, a break room and a control cab. The tower is still awaiting approval by the Federal Aviation Authority and Congress.
