FRISCO, TEXAS — John T. Evans Co. has brokered the sale of a 25,000-square-foot land parcel located near the intersection of Ohio Drive and Lebanon Road in Frisco. The buyer, Lai Family Trust, plans to construct an approximately 5,000-square-foot music school on the site and will begin construction within the next 90 days. Paul Vernon of John T. Evans Co. represented the seller, Land Plan Development. The parcel traded for $250,000.

ORLANDO, FLA. — Construct Two Group will soon break ground on the 100,000-square-foot Old Cheney/North Forsyth Area Elementary School on a 14-acre parcel on Curtis Street in Orlando. The $14.2 million project, which was designed by Orlando-based Schenkel Shultz Architects, will include administration offices, classrooms, a kitchen and a multi-purpose room. Delivery is expected next June.

WHEELING, ILL. — Morgan/Harbour Construction, serving as design-builder, has completed the construction of a public works facility for the Village of Wheeling. Located at 77 W. Hintz Rd. in Wheeling, the 121,397-square-foot property includes indoor storage space for trucks and equipment, administrative offices and 3 acres of outdoor storage for salt domes, a fuel island, equipment storage and other machinery. Harris Architects provided architectural services for the project.

NEW LONDON, N.H. — Concord, N.H.-based North Branch Construction has been selected to provide construction management services for a new project at Colby Sawyer College in New London. The new Windy Hill School will be a 10,000-square-foot structure that will house the college's daycare, kindergarten and after-school programs for families in the community. The Windy Hill program is run by students and faculty of the college's Social Sciences & Education Program and is currently operated out of the lower levels of the Abbey and Burpee residence halls. Building amenities will include classrooms with built-in kitchens and computer work areas, seminar rooms, two “smart” classrooms for child development classes, an early childhood curriculum laboratory, a resource library and faculty offices. Completion is scheduled for spring 2010. The project architect is Lebanon, N.H.-based Banwel Architects.

CLEVELAND — Horizon Science Academy has signed a lease for an approximately 40,000-square-foot building, which is located at 2261 Columbus Rd. in Cleveland. The property is owned by the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland. Ken Anderson of CRESCO Real Estate represented the tenant in the transaction. Additional terms of the lease were not disclosed.

GREAT NECK, N.Y. — St. Louis-based The Korte Company has completed construction for a new $13 million facility for the United States Postal Service in Great Neck. The 26,388-square-foot post office contains a 14,000-square-foot annex, a workroom, office support and administrative areas, break rooms, employee lockers, equipment rooms, mechanical mezzanines and storage areas. The facility also includes a two-story, 85-space parking garage. This most recent project marks the 39th project Korte has completed for the Postal Service nationwide.

DETROIT — The construction of Wayne State University’s Richard J. Mazurek M.D. Medical Education Commons is now complete. Located in Detroit, the $35 million project comprised a 34,000-square-foot addition to the existing medical school facility and a 69,000-square-foot renovation to the existing Vera Parshall Shiffman Medical Library. The three-story complex features a clinical skills center with four stimulation labs, new computer labs, a testing center, student services, classrooms, collaborative study areas and administrative offices. SHW Group designed the project, which is seeking LEED Silver certification.

COLLINSVILLE, ILL. — Swansea, Ill.-based Holland Construction Service, serving as general contractor, has broken ground for the construction of Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital in Collinsville. Located at 5230 Horseshoe Lake Rd., the $1 million facility will offer 5,621 square feet of space, including seven exam rooms, a surgery suite, a dental exam room, conference and consultation rooms, separate dog and cat wards for hospitalized pets, a waiting area and a pharmacy. The existing building will be redesigned to accommodate grooming facilities and an upscale boarding facility. Fairview Heights, Ill.-based EWR Associates provided architectural services for the project.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — McCarthy Building Cos. has commenced construction for a $47 million water treatment plant in Fort Worth. The Fort Worth Westside Water Treatment Plant will initially be able to treat up to 12 million gallons of water per day and will have future expansion capability. The project will include the construction of an ozone contact basin, flocculation and sedimentation basins, filters and a membrane facility, an operations building, wash water recovery basins, a recycle pump station, a 2.5 million-gallon storage tank, a high-service pump station, an ozone chemical building and an electrical building. Completion of the project is scheduled for January 2012.
