CHICAGO — Skender has completed the interior construction of the 85,000-square-foot headquarters for AbelsonTaylor within the 2.8 million-square-foot Old Post Office project in Chicago. AbelsonTaylor is a Chicago-based health and wellness advertising agency. The company will occupy the entire sixth floor of the north building and a portion of the fifth floor of the south building. The new space features private offices, open-office workstations, open collaboration areas, conferencing areas, two cafés, photography rooms and storage rooms. The floors are separated by a few staircases, essentially functioning as a single office space. Serving as general contractor, Skender worked in conjunction with HED, Syska Hennessy Group and Cushman & Wakefield. Skender is currently the contractor for nearly 600,000 square feet of office space under development at the Old Post Office, including projects for Walgreens and PepsiCo.

NEW YORK CITY — Barone Management has completed development of The Woodworks, an 89,024-square-foot industrial property in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens. The Woodworks is comprised of 44,950 square feet of office space and 44,391 square feet of warehouse space with 21-foot ceilings. The location offers convenient access to Long Island Expressway and Interstate 278. The property was constructed on a speculative basis and can be leased by one or multiple tenants. Cushman & Wakefield is leading the leasing effort.
HOUSTON — A joint venture between Patrinely Group, USAA Real Estate and CDC Houston has broken ground on the new, 440,000-square-foot headquarters for Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The property will be located within CityPlace at Springwoods Village and will span two five-story buildings with a bridge connector at each level and structured parking for 2,055 cars. Amenities will include a fitness center, café, kitchen and pharmacy, laboratory and office space and a large central courtyard with a multi-use basketball pavilion, fitness/yoga lawn, water feature, outdoor tables and green space. Completion is scheduled for spring 2022. Pickard Chilton is the design architect; Kirksey is the executive architect; REES is the interior architect; and D.E. Harvey Builders is the general contractor.
LEANDER, TEXAS — Masonwood Development Corp. has begun construction on South Street Villas, an 86-unit residential project located in the northern Austin suburb of Leander. Units at the for-rent development will feature nine-foot ceilings, stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. Trez Capital provided construction financing for the project, which is scheduled for a fall 2020 completion.
MIAMI — Time Century Holdings LLC has broken ground on its redevelopment of Metro Mall in Miami’s Jewelry District. The $35 million project includes gutting the interior of the 225,000-square-foot building, adding a three-story atrium, security system, valet parking and creating a new façade. Miami-based Kobi Karp is the architect for the 94-year-old building, which Time Century purchased in 2018. Time Century is handling the leasing efforts and has already signed some leases with jewelers, according to Yair Levy of Time Century Holdings. The developer expects to reopen Metro Mall in spring 2021. Metro Mall is situated at 1 NE First St., three blocks from downtown Miami. The Jewelry District is home to more than 500 jewelry stores in a four-block radius.
BLUFFTON, S.C. — JMG Realty Inc. will open Enclave at Bluffton Park, a 110-unit multifamily property in Bluffton, on Monday, March 2. The property will offer a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans across one-story garden-style buildings and two-story townhomes. Communal amenities will include a pool with covered entertainment pavilion, a clubhouse with 24-hour fitness center and outdoor recreational areas with grills and TVs. There will also be a complimentary rental bike service for residents. The property is situated at 12 Wilkinson Way, eight miles west of Hilton Head Island. A grand opening event will be scheduled for the spring.
BISMARCK, N.D. — CBL Properties has unveiled the first phase of redevelopment plans for the former Herberger’s department store at Kirkwood Mall in Bismarck. Three fast-casual restaurants, including Five Guys, Blaze Pizza and Chick-fil-A, will join the mall. As part of the project, roughly 40,000 square feet of the former Herberger’s will be demolished. The remaining 52,000 square feet will be utilized in future phases of redevelopment. An additional pad site will be created in the parking area. Construction is set to begin this spring.
HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. — Dallas-based sports and entertainment company Topgolf will open a $25 million driving range and restaurant facility in Holtsville, a city located on the eastern part of Long Island. The facility will feature three levels of entertainment and dining space on a 26.6-acre site. The facility will be Topgolf’s first venue in New York and is expected to bring 500 new full-time jobs to the state. Construction is slated for completion in early 2021.
Moinian Group to Develop Hudson Arts Office Building in Manhattan’s West Chelsea District

NEW YORK CITY — The Moinian Group will develop The Hudson Arts Building, a ground-up office construction project in the West Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. The 200,000-square-foot office tower is expected to rise up to 145 feet and will occupy an entire city block between West 25th and 26th streets at 220 11th Ave. The building is being developed on a speculative basis, with occupancy expected in the third quarter of 2022. JLL’s Peter Riguardi, Frank Doyle, Cynthia Wasserberger and Georgiana Cook are leading the leasing effort. “Office tenants, institutional investors, residents and commuters are recognizing the broader West Side’s vibrancy, distinguished by its industrialized roots and now marked by its unparalleled amenities and new projects across property types,” says Doyle, vice chairman, international director at JLL’s New York City office. “As a result, West Chelsea has emerged as a target destination for progressive companies and talent alike.” Designed by Studios Architecture, Hudson Arts Building will feature a 12,400-square-foot outdoor terrace and a multi-level level retail space totaling approximately 25,000 square feet. GARFIELD, N.J. — StorageBlue, a storage operator serving the New York metropolitan area, has opened a 650-unit self-storage facility in Garfield, a northwestern suburb of New York City. Located at 170 River Drive, the 60,000-square-foot facility was redeveloped from a former macaroni factory. The conversion project began in August 2019 and is valued at $6 million. The facility offers amenities such as outdoor drive-up units, surveillance and U-Haul truck rental.
