MCKINNEY, TEXAS — Atlanta-based Core5 Industrial Partners has broken ground on Core5 Logistics Center of McKinney, an industrial project being developed on 65 acres north of Dallas. The initial phase of the project will deliver 431,710 square feet of space across two buildings, with completion scheduled for early summer 2020. Dallas-based Citadel Partners will handle leasing of the buildings.

SPRING, TEXAS — Wood Partners, a multifamily development and investment firm with offices around the country, has broken ground on Alta Cathedral Lakes, a 300-unit apartment community located in the northern Houston suburb of Spring. The property will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom units with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, tile backsplashes and individual washers and dryers. Amenities will include a pool, fitness center, business center with conference rooms, an outdoor kitchen, clubroom and a dog park. Preleasing will begin in fall 2020 with the first units scheduled to come on line in the fourth quarter of 2020.
AUSTIN, TEXAS —A partnership between C12 Capital Management LP and Sardis Developments is underway on construction of Loren at Lady Bird Lake, a 108-room luxury hotel in Austin that will be operated by New York-based Loren Hotel Group. The property will also feature 26 for-sale residences, including two penthouses. Amenities will include a pool, fitness center, spa and a bar and lounge with an outdoor seating area. Site work has begun and completion is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021. Rhode Partners is the project architect, and Hoar Construction is the general contractor. Michael Landon of CBRE arranged an $80 million first lien construction loan through Hall Structured Finance for the project.
King Street Properties Begins Construction of 266,800 Innolabs Life Sciences Project in Long Island City

LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. — King Street Properties has begun construction of Innolabs, a 266,800-square-foot life sciences project in Long Island City. Located at 45-18 Court Square, the project involves the redevelopment and expansion of a 160,000-square-foot, Class B office building that will anchor the life sciences sector on Long Island. The building will be completely gutted and renovated to allow for multi-tenant floors and will be expanded with a four-story addition and two six-story additions. The project is slated for completion in the first quarter of 2021.
Capitol Seniors Housing Completes New Clubhouse, Residences at Community in Cinnaminson, New Jersey

CINNAMINSON, N.J. — Capitol Seniors Housing has completed construction of a new clubhouse and two of the remaining five residential buildings at Siena, an active adult community in Cinnaminson, an eastern suburb of Philadelphia. The owner is currently working to complete the community’s master plan that will consist of 12 buildings and 204 units upon full build-out. The new residences range from 1,114 to 1,873 square feet. Capitol Seniors Housing acquired Siena in 2018, and Cove Property Management operates the community.
PHILADELPHIA — Cliffs Climbing + Fitness will open a 40,000-square-foot climbing and fitness facility called in Philadelphia on Saturday, Dec. 7. The Cliffs at Callow Hill will be located in a single-tenant warehouse at 1010 Callowhill St. and will offer climbing walls with classes and clinics for all skill levels, plus a private yoga studio and a full-scale fitness center. The facility was built by Caledonia Builders Inc. and the climbing walls were built by Walltopia. Michael Gorman and Stephen Carrozza of Metro Commercial Real Estate represented Cliffs in the lease negotiations.
C.W. Driver Breaks Ground on $50M Language Arts, Social Science Building at Orange County College in California

COSTA MESA, CALIF. — C.W. Driver Cos. has broken ground on Orange Coast College’s new $50 million Language Arts and Social Science Building in Costa Mesa. Slated for completion in summer 2021, the three-story, 107,760-square-foot building is part of a larger initiative to modernize the campus and accommodate its expanding enrollment. The building’s first floor will house classrooms, labs, an English as a Second Language computer lab, facilities for the Speech, Debate and Theater Team and a journalism newsroom. The second floor will feature classrooms and connect to the existing Mathematics Business and Computer Center Building, while the third floor will encompass division and faculty offices. Additionally, the building will include two elevators, a lactation room and gender-neutral restrooms on every floor. tBP Architecture is serving as architect on the project. The building is being financed through a combination of funding from California Proposition 51 and Measure M, a $698 million general obligation bond provided to construct education facilities for Coast Community College District.
ST. LOUIS — Chesapeake Hospitality has opened an 88-room Hotel Indigo in downtown St. Louis. Located at 501 Olive St., the boutique hotel property features a restaurant, rooftop bar and event spaces. The project involved the redevelopment of the former LaSalle Building, an office building dating back to the early 1900s. Each guest room pays homage to the building’s history and location within its décor. Guests have access to mini-refrigerators, complimentary Wi-Fi and USB charging ports.
Heidenberg, Strategic Real Estate Open 22,000 SF Marshalls Within Potomac Marketplace in West Virginia

RANSON, W.VA. — Heidenberg Properties Group and Strategic Real Estate Partners have opened the 22,000-square-foot Marshalls at The Potomac Marketplace in Ranson. In March, the two companies announced they reached a leasing agreement with The TJX Cos., the parent company of Marshalls, and would need to immediately expand the center between Kohl’s and Petco. The center now spans 379,000 square feet following the expansion. Marshalls joins other retail tenants such as AT&T, Weis Markets, Kohl’s, Petco and The Home Depot.
LORDSTOWN, OHIO — General Motors and LG Chem have teamed up to invest up to $2.3 billion through a new, equally owned joint venture company. The partnership plans to establish a battery cell assembly plant for electric vehicles on a greenfield manufacturing site in northeast Ohio’s Lordstown. The plant is expected to create more than 1,100 new jobs. Groundbreaking is slated for mid-2020. Coinciding with the news is GM’s sale of its manufacturing complex in Lordstown to Lordstown Motors Corp. for the production of battery-electric trucks. This investment builds on GM’s previously announced $28 million investment in its Warren, Mich. battery lab.
