RICHARDSON, TEXAS — Locally based developer Leon Capital Group has begun leasing Society 190, a 415-unit multifamily community located off President George Bush Turnpike in Richardson, a northeastern suburb of Dallas. The property, construction of which is nearing completion, will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom units ranging in size from 680 to 1,450 square feet. Rents start at $1,275 per month. Amenities include a pool, fitness center, game room, outdoor kitchen and coworking office space.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Multifamily developer Presidium has broken ground on Presidium at Revelstoke, a 408-unit project located within Alliance Town Center in north Fort Worth. The property will be situated on 17.2 acres and will offer amenities such as a pool, outdoor grilling and gaming area, fitness center, dog park, playground and electric car charging stations. O’Brien Architects is designing the project, and Kimley-Horn is the civil engineer. Provident General Contractors is handling construction, which is expected to be complete in the second half of 2020.
MCKINNEY, TEXAS — KDC will develop a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility for Raytheon at the defense contractor’s Space & Airborne Systems headquarters in the northern Dallas suburb of McKinney. The project, construction of which is slated for a late 2020 completion, is expected to bring 500 new jobs to McKinney. In 2014, KDC delivered a 489,000-square-foot office complex for Raytheon at CityLine in Richardson.
Public-Private Partnership Delivers $105M Mixed-Use Student Housing Tower on UCF’s Campus in Downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, FLA. — Development Ventures Group (DEVEN) and Ustler Development Inc., in a public-private partnership with the City of Orlando, have delivered UnionWest at Creative Village on the University of Central Florida’s campus. UnionWest is a 15-story building with 644 student housing beds, 100,000 square feet of academic space, 11,000 square feet of ground-level retail space and a 600-space parking garage. Construction on the $105 million development began in October 2017. The building is located at the corner of West Livingston Street and North Terry Avenue in downtown Orlando, which grants access to both University of Central Florida and Valencia College students. Five of the six ground-floor retail locations in UnionWest are leased. Tenants include Vera Asian, Addition Financial, Subway, Dunkin’ and Qdoba Mexican Grill. The student housing portion opened in time for the fall 2019 semester at 97 percent occupancy.
ATLANTA — A joint venture between Songy Highroads and Hyatt Hotels Corp. has opened its 11-story Hyatt Place Centennial Park in downtown Atlanta. The 175-room hotel, which was announced in November 2017, opened on Thursday, Sept. 12. Amenities include ground-level retail space facing Luckie and Marietta streets, a swimming pool, fitness center, lobby bar, onsite food service, parking deck, 2,100 square feet of meeting space and a large aquarium in the lobby paying homage to its neighbor Georgia Aquarium. The hotel is also situated across the street from Centennial Olympic Park and World of Coca-Cola and near other venues such as College Football Hall of Fame, CNN Center, World Congress Center and State Farm Arena. Atlanta-based Reeves Young was the general contractor of Hyatt Place Centennial Park, and Alpharetta, Ga.-based Wakefield Beasley & Associates was the architect.
Market Basket Supermarket Will Anchor 306,000 SF Mixed-Use Development in Maynard, Massachusetts

MAYNARD, MASS. — Market Basket Supermarket will anchor the 306,000-square-foot Maynard Crossing mixed-use development currently under construction in Maynard, located approximately 23 miles west of Boston. The 70,000-square-foot store plans to hire 250 associates and will feature a full-service butcher and café with sandwiches, pizza and sushi. Capital Group Properties is developing Maynard Crossing, will include additional retail tenants and a 180-unit apartment complex called The Vue at Maynard Crossing. Maynard Crossing is slated for completion by the end of 2019. Additionally, Hawthorn Retirement Group is developing a 143-unit senior independent living community on the site called Camellia Gardens Gracious Retirement Living. General contractor JBJ Construction expects to complete this project by 2020.
KEENE, N.H. — Brady Sullivan Properties is redeveloping the Colony Mill Marketplace, an existing 112,000-square-foot mixed-use project in Keene, located about 50 miles southwest of Concord. Construction of 89 apartments is slated for completion by the end of fall 2019, and the property already encompasses Elm City Brewing Co., Keene Casino and NBT Bank. The mill was originally built in the mid-1700s and was traded and redeveloped numerous times before it reopened as Colony Mill Marketplace in 1983.
CHICAGO — Amazon has unveiled plans to expand its Chicago tech hub and create an additional 400 jobs in fields including cloud computing, advertising and business development. To accommodate the job creation, Amazon will expand its office in downtown Chicago by more than 70,000 square feet. This will double the company’s tech workforce within the city. Amazon’s Chicago tech hub is one of the company’s 18 North American tech hubs. Amazon employees in Chicago currently build and support products and services for Amazon Web Services, Amazon Advertising and the company’s transportation and operations units. Together with its customer fulfillment and retail facilities, Amazon has created more than 11,000 full-time jobs in Illinois and invested over $4.4 billion in the state since 2010.
ST. PETERS, MO. — A new apartment community known as 5300 Centre Apartments has opened in St. Peters, about 30 miles west of St. Louis. Developed by Propper Construction Services, the four-story property features 265 units across two buildings. The community includes two rooftop garden areas, one of which is designed for recreation areas while the other is designated for quiet areas with hammocks and outdoor yoga classes. Other amenities include a pool, rooftop lounge, fitness center, business center, covered parking, electric vehicle charging stations and bicycle storage. Renters will be able to choose from fully furnished or unfurnished units. Monthly rental rates range from $920 for studios to $2,585 for three-bedroom suites. 2B Residential is the management and leasing company. Zwick + Gandt Architecture served as architect while S.M. Wilson & Co. was the general contractor. A grand opening celebration will take place this Thursday, Sept. 19.
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, ILL. — Krusinski Construction Co. has broken ground on the new headquarters for Yamazen Inc. in Elk Grove Village. The 138,000-square-foot, two-story building will be located at 111 NW Point Blvd. Yamazen, which sells and distributes machine tool equipment and is a subsidiary of Japan-based Yamazen Corp., will relocate its current operations and staff from Schaumburg. Completion is slated for summer 2020. The facility will feature 50,000 square feet of offices, conference rooms and product demonstration areas. The distribution space will include two loading docks, two drive-in doors and 137 car parking spaces. The project team includes Cornerstone Architects Ltd., civil engineer V3 Companies Ltd. and owner representative Ketone Partners.
