EDGERTON, KAN. — Kubota Tractor Corp. will host a grand opening ceremony for its new North American distribution center in Edgerton on Wednesday, Aug. 21. Joining Kubota executives will be Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly and other state and local officials. Set on 200 acres of land, the new campus includes two 1 million-square-foot buildings. The property will serve as a logistics hub for Kubota’s North American operations and home to the company’s Midwest sales division office. Kubota is based in Grapevine, Texas.

HOUSTON — Developer Todd Interests has completed a project in at 1314 Texas Ave. in Houston that converted the historic Great Southwest Building, a property that was built in 1926, into a 226-room Cambria Hotel. Amenities at the new property, which also houses ground-floor retail and restaurant space, include a fitness center, ballroom and meeting and event space. Merriman Anderson Architects handled design of the project, and Andres Construction served as the general contractor. Cambria is part of the Choice family of hotels, which includes Comfort Inn, Sleep Inn and Econo Lodge.
PHILADELPHIA — Liberty Property Trust, a publicly-traded real estate investment trust (NYSE: LPT), has opened Four Seasons Philadelphia, a 219-room hotel located within the Comcast Technology Center in Philadelphia. The hotel rises 1,121 feet, making it the tallest building in the city. Amenities at the hotel include a spa and wellness center with a 30,000-gallon swimming pool, restaurant concept Jean-Georges Philadelphia, oyster and cocktail bar Vernick Fish, a 42-seat café called Vernick Coffee Bar and 15,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. WINONA, MINN. — The Rochester office of Kraus-Anderson has completed construction of Education Village, a $31.2 million expansion at Winona State University in southeastern Minnesota. The project includes comprehensive renovations to Helble Hall, Wabasha Recreation Center and Cathedral Elementary School. Education Village will be used by the College of Education. The facility, designed by Leo A Daly Architects, features flexible learning spaces, including those for early childhood education training. Winona State University was founded in 1858.
RICHMOND, TEXAS — Houston-based NewQuest Properties will break ground in the coming weeks of the first phase of Grand at Aliana, a 200,000-square-foot retail project in Richmond, a southwestern suburb of Houston. The property is preleased to an array of national tenants, including 24 Hour Fitness, Burlington, Ross Dress for Less, Michaels, Petco, Ulta Beauty, Five Below, Bath & Body Works and Skechers. Grand at Aliana will also house a 10,454-square-foot healthcare clinic that will be occupied by Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Group and provide urgent and primary care services. Out-parcels have been ground-leased to McDonald’s, Jason’s Deli, Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, Timewise and Express Oil. The opening is scheduled for the second quarter of 2020.
ENNIS, TEXAS — St. Louis-based HDA Architects has completed a 70,000-square-foot distribution center for Price Distributing, which services the beer industry, in Ennis, a southern suburb of Dallas. The tilt-wall facility includes approximately 62,000 square feet of warehouse space, 3,500 square feet of cooler space and office space. Construction began in 2018.
MIAMI — JLL has arranged a $300 million construction loan for the development of 830 Brickell, a 56-story, 1 million-square-foot office tower in Miami’s Brickell district. MSD Partners provided the four-year loan to the developers, a joint venture between OKO Group and Cain International. Located at 830 SE First Ave., 830 Brickell is slated for completion in early 2022. The property is situated next to a MetroMover station, as well as Brickell City Centre, a $1.5 billion, 506,000-square-foot mixed-use development.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Beacon Partners is set to break ground this month on The Square at South End, which will include a 10-story building that will feature 150,000 square feet of office space and 8,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The project will also include a multifamily building that will be connected by an outdoor plaza. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of 2020. Amenities at the office building will include outdoor decks on multiple floors, a 2,400-square-foot coffee bar for tenants and guests, two-story fitness center, outdoor wellness area and a 2,500-square-foot patio overlooking Uptown Charlotte. As part of the project, Beacon will partner with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation to develop Wilmore Centennial Park, a 1.5-acre park located at the intersection of South Tryon and Kingston streets. Centro Cityworks will develop the multifamily portion of The Square at South End. The design teams for the office portion includes Axion as the architect, Edifice as the general contractor and LandDesign as the civil engineer. Kristy Venning and Erin Shaw of Beacon Partners will handle leasing. Sauceman’s, a local barbecue restaurant, plans to relocate to a new, larger space next to Sugar Creek Brewery.
PHOENIX — Life Care Services is developing the $100 million second phase at Sagewood in Phoenix. Westminster Capital is the joint venture development partner of the property, which opened in 2010 and currently has 316 units. Situated on 3.5 acres, the 220,000-square-foot second phase will include 101 independent living apartments. Phase II will feature one- and two-bedroom apartment homes; an 18-hole championship golf putting course; new dining facilities, including The Owl’s Nest restaurant and lounge; expansion of the existing Canyon Café; and an expansion of the current Palo Verde Dining Room, which will become an entirely new, separate venue. Additionally, the second phase will include card rooms and new administrative offices. The new phase will offer 13 different apartment home floor plans, ranging from one-bedroom units to two-bedroom plus den layouts. The units will measure between 873 square feet and 2,351 square feet. All residences will also include patios or balconies offering scenic views. Todd & Associates is serving as architect and The Weitz Co. is building the project. DALLAS — A partnership between Hillwood Urban and USAA Real Estate has broken ground on Victory Commons, a 365,000-square-foot office project that will be located within the 75-acre Victory Park development in downtown Dallas. Designed by BOKA Powell, the 15-story, Class A building will feature a tenant lounge, coffee bar and a rooftop terrace, Victory Commons is expected to be available for occupancy in fall 2021. HFF arranged construction financing for the project through QuadReal.
