FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Victory Real Estate Group is underway on construction for Victory Shops at Basswood, a 26-acre retail project at the corner of Blue Mound Road and Basswood Boulevard in Fort Worth. According to site plan, German discount grocer Lidl will be the anchor tenant; other tenants will include Chipotle, Verizon and Starbucks. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Victory will complete construction of the first buildings early this year.

ROANOKE, TEXAS — Civitas Senior Living and LKP Ventures will develop Harvest Senior Living, an 83-unit assisted living and memory care community in Roanoke, a northern suburb of Fort Worth. The property will be situated on 5.2 acres along State Highway 114, span 67,000 square feet and offer resort-style amenities. The groundbreaking is slated to occur this spring.
EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. — HDA Architects and Kadean Construction have completed a 768,678-square-foot speculative distribution center in Edwardsville near St. Louis. Known as Lakeview 5, the warehouse is designed for four tenants with office spaces at each corner of the building. This is the second distribution center that HDA has designed at Lakeview Commerce Center on behalf of Panattoni Development.
SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL), a continuing care retirement community in San Francisco, has opened a preview center at its 190-unit Frank Residences expansion. The $140 million project will add 113 assisted living apartments and 77 memory care suites. The expansion includes 270,000 square feet of new construction, plus renovations to the community’s 362 skilled nursing units. The new units are slated for occupancy in late 2019. “SFCJL leadership embarked on this project because they saw there was a real need in the community for modern housing where older adults could receive higher levels of care,” says Staci Chang, director of marketing and communications. “With this expansion, we are creating an economically sustainable model that will be viable for generations to come and expanding our services to serve the needs and wants of a broader population of older adults and their families.” In addition to the new residential units, SFCJL is creating a “downtown” on campus with social and cultural activities, as well as medical services. BELTON, MO. — The city of Belton has approved development plans for a 95-room Avid Hotel by IHG. The four-story hotel is expected to be the first Avid property to open in the Kansas City area. Completion is slated for the end of 2020. The property will include a fitness room and lobby with “grab-and-go” breakfast. The project team includes developer Liberty Hotel Group, general contractor Genesis Construction Management, architect B+A Architecture and civil engineer Renaissance Infrastructure Consulting.
CHICAGO — Skender has completed interior construction of Upwork’s new 34,000-square-foot headquarters in Chicago. Upwork, a website for hiring freelancers, has relocated to 525 W. Van Buren St. from its former space at 224 N. Desplaines St. Upwork’s space includes a café, server room, reception area, executive suite and open office concept for workstations. Upwork plans to build out an additional 34,000 square feet for use in 2020. Skender collaborated with architecture firm SCB, engineering firm Syska Hennessy Group and the building owner’s representative, Cresa.
PTM Partners, EIG Acquire Opportunity Zone in Miami, Plan $100M Multifamily Development

MIAMI — PTM Partners and Estate Investment Group (EIG) have acquired a 1.3-acre parcel in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood for $9.7 million. The joint venture plans to develop a $100 million, 18-story, 360-unit apartment complex at the site called Soleste Grand Central. The 220,000-square-foot project is set to include a resort-style, elevated pool deck, fitness center and spa, kids’ playroom, coworking space and resident lounge. The development will be situated at 218 N.W. Eighth St., about two miles north of downtown Miami.
ELKINS, W.VA. — Busy Beaver, a home improvement store, will open a location in Elkins, West Virginia on April 10. The 33,000-square-foot store will be its fourth in the state. It will be situated at 731 Beverly Pike and will feature a lumber yard and farm and ranch departments. The new site will house 20 full-time and 10 to 15 part-time employees. This is Busy Beaver’s 22nd location, with three stores in Ohio and 15 in western Pennsylvania.
HOUSTON — Hines will develop The Preston, a 46-story residential tower in downtown Houston that will feature 373 for-rent residences and 6,800 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space. The property will be situated near multiple public transit lines and adjacent to Hines’ 1 million-square-foot office project at 800 Texas Ave. Amenities will include a pool, cabanas, yoga lawn, fitness center, co-working office space and multiple social lounges with coffee bars. The project team includes design architect Munoz + Albin, landscape architect TBG, interior architect Ragni Studio and general contractor Harvey Builders. Construction is slated to begin in March and wrap up during the third quarter of 2022.
HOUSTON — Wood Partners, a local multifamily development and management firm, has broken ground on Alta Washington Avenue, a 204-unit apartment community in Houston. The property will be located near several employment hubs, including the CBD and Greenway Plaza, and will offer one- and two-bedroom floorplans. Amenities will include a pool, fitness center, outdoor grilling areas, game room, business center, dog park and sky lounge. Alta Washington Avenue is expected to open in winter 2020.
