NATICK, MASS. — Design-build firm Dacon Corp. has completed a 7,400-square-foot industrial and life sciences expansion project in Natick, a western suburb of Boston. The project is a build-to-suit for Kula Bio, which specializes in the production of agricultural products that serve as replacements to synthetic fertilizers. The facility includes manufacturing, office and research-and-development space. Kula Bio initially opened its 7,500-square-foot headquarters in Natick in late 2021 with the expectation of expanding.

CINCINNATI — Skanska will build a $164 million office building for Medpace, a clinical research company, in Cincinnati. The project involves a 562,000-square-foot, nine-story building featuring a six-story office tower atop a three-floor parking garage and conference center. The building will be constructed on the existing Medpace campus. Completion is slated for March 2027.

NAPERVILLE, ILL. — Brixmor Property Group (NYSE: BRX) has begun a $53 million redevelopment and reconfiguration of Westridge Court shopping center in the Chicago suburb of Naperville. Plans call for a new restaurant and entertainment district to be branded Block 59 at the corner of Route 59 and Aurora Avenue. The 91,000-square-foot project will include the construction of multiple outparcels for brands such as The Cheesecake Factory, Yard House, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Piccolo Buco by Cooper’s Hawk, Shake Shack, Stan’s Donuts, First Watch, Fresh Fin, Crisp & Green and Velvet Taco. The dining lineup will join currently open Lazy Dog Restaurant and furniture retailer Walter E. Smithe. Plans call for an open-air central plaza that will serve as a public gathering space and host community events year-round surrounded by new outdoor restaurant patios. The project will also include a new valet area, wayfinding signage, landscaping, energy-efficient lighting and improved pedestrian and vehicular circulation. Westridge Court is anchored by The Fresh Market, Ulta Beauty, Hollywood Palms Cinema and the newly announced Wayfair Outlet. The company plans to develop 48th @ Alameda, an industrial project, on the site. The acquired parcel includes two sites: Jim Wilson of Cushman & Wakefield will list the project for sale or lease.

Intuit Dome, Inglewood, California

INGLEWOOD, CALIF. — A public-private partnership between Murphy’s Bowl LLC and the City of Inglewood has opened Intuit Dome, a 915,000-square-foot events arena in Inglewood that will be the home of the National Basketball Association’s LA Clippers. Former Microsoft executive Steve Ballmer owns the team. Intuit Dome is situated on a 28-acre site between Prairie Avenue and Century Boulevard and near SoFi Stadium, the new home arena for the Los Angeles Rams football team. The arena will host home games for the Clippers, as well as sporting events not involving the Clippers, family shows, concerts, conventions and corporate events. The arena opened yesterday with a concert from Grammy award winner Bruno Mars. The Clippers have been headquartered at the Staples Center in Los Angeles since 1999. The team shared the facility with the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the Clippers will be the only tenant at the Intuit Dome, according to the Los Angeles Times. The development team broke ground on the project in September 2021. Intuit Dome offers 86,000 square feet of training, medical and player spaces, as well as five basketball courts with more than 17,700 seats and 640 bathrooms. TAMPA, FLA. — Landmark Properties has delivered The Metropolitan Tampa, a 759-bed student housing development located at 2701 E. Fowler Ave. near the University of South Florida (USF) campus in Tampa. The community offers 276 fully furnished units in studio through four-bedroom configurations. Shared amenities at the property include an outdoor rooftop swimming pool, jumbotron, grilling areas, a gaming lawn, two courtyards, fitness center, study centers and onsite parking. The development also features 1,700 square feet of retail space at the ground level. The development team for the five-story project included Niles Bolton Associates and Landmark Construction, the in-house construction arm of Athens, Ga.-based Landmark Properties.

Mount-Laurel-Cold-Storage

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. —  A joint venture between institutional investment firm BentallGreenOak and RL Cold has broken ground on a 215,766-square-foot cold storage project in Mount Laurel, an eastern suburb of Philadelphia. Greek Design|Build, an affiliate of regional owner-operator Greek Real Estate Partners, is handling construction of the project, which is being developed on a speculative basis. The facility will feature four variable compartments that can accommodate temperatures ranging from minus 10 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit, as well as a food inspection area, 27 dock positions, 5,000 square feet of mezzanine storage space and office space. A tentative completion date was not disclosed.

YONKERS, N.Y. — The Westchester County Local Development Corp. has approved $35 million in tax-exempt bond financing to fund various renovations at Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers. The 44-acre liberal arts school was founded as a women’s learning institution in 1926 but became coeducational in 1968. The financing will cover renovation and rehabilitation of The Siegel Building, the performing arts center, the Bates Building and various athletic facilities. Proceeds would also be used to purchase and renovate the building at 8 Oak Bend, as well as to upgrade campus-wide information technology hardware, infrastructure, machinery, equipment and other items of personal property.

JOHNSTOWN, COLO. — PCCP has provided a $41 million senior loan to Journey Homes for the construction of Overlook Apartments, a garden-style multifamily community located at 2530 Bearberry Lane in Johnstown, just south of Fort Collins. Construction is underway with completion slated for first-quarter 2025. Situated on 16 acres, Overlook Apartments will feature 210 one-, two- and three-bedroom units spread across 10 residential buildings. The community will offer a clubhouse, fitness center, resort-style pool, coworking lounge, resident lounge, children’s playground and picnic areas with outdoor firepits and grills.

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. — Gateway Jax has received approval from the Jacksonville City Council for the development of Pearl Street District, a $2 billion mixed-use project set to span 25 blocks in downtown Jacksonville.  Plans for the development include 1,000 residential units; more than 100,000 square feet of retail space; public gathering spaces, including parks surrounding the historic Porter House mansion; widened and shaded sidewalks; and a curbless “festival street” with outdoor dining. Gateway Jax bought the site last year. Anticipated tenants for the retail portion of the project include a full-service grocery store, high-end fitness club, restaurants and daily service providers, like salons and shops.  Gateway Jax plans to break ground in October, pending receipt of city permits, and develop the project in phases over the next decade. The project is expected to create 2,700 permanent jobs and spur over $750 million in annual economic impact and full build-out, according to the developer. Partners include the Downtown Investment Authority and the City of Jacksonville.
