LEAVENWORTH AND KANSAS CITY, KAN. — Prime Healthcare Services has completed the acquisition of Providence Medical Center, a 400-bed acute care hospital in Kansas City, and Saint John Hospital, an 80-bed acute care hospital in Leavenworth, from SCL Health System. Providence's key services include cardiovascular care, neurosurgery and orthopedics, and include state-of-the-art spine and joint centers. At Saint John, the hospital specializes in emergency care, senior behavioral health, rehabilitation and ambulatory surgery. Prime Healthcare Services will provide at least $10 million toward capital improvements and other investment projects during the next five years.

Cambridge, Mass. — Foundation Medicine Inc. has signed a 61,591-square-foot lease at 150 Second St. in Cambridge’s Kendall Square. The lab and office building will house Foundation Medicine’s clinical laboratory, beginning in September. Skanska USA Commercial Development Inc. acquired the property in November 2010. The three-story building was completed in December 2012 and features approximately 123,000 square feet of highly sustainable lab space and is on track to obtain LEED Gold certification. Foundation Medicine is a molecular information company that uses genomic analysis to help doctors identify cancer treatments best suited for each patient. Jones Lang LaSalle represented Skanska USA in the transaction. Richards Barry Joyce & Partners represented Foundation Medicine.

ST. LOUIS — Construction of Saint Louis University Hospital’s $1.5 million emergency department expansion is slated for completion in June. The 4,000-square-foot project will add five additional treatment rooms, a new nurses’ station, work and storage spaces and a new two-station registration area. The emergency department, one of the region’s busiest trauma centers, treats more than 100 emergency cases each day and more than 39,000 cases per year. McGrath & Associates is the general contractor. The design team includes BSA LifeStructures and KJWW Engineering Consultants.

ST. LOUIS — A $2 million expansion of the Pain Management Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH) in St. Louis is scheduled for completion in May. The project will expand the BJH Pain Management Center into a new 11,000-square-foot space on the 14th floor of the Center for Advanced Medicine. Construction began in February. McGrath is providing construction management services, and the design team includes OWH Inc. and EDM Inc. More than 25 percent of the project contract has been awarded to minority-owned and women-owned businesses. Disadvantaged business subcontractors include Miller Building Group, Waterhout, Deluca/BE Scaife, Mechanical Solutions, Pro Insulation and Guarantee/TD4.

DALLAS — Healthcare Trust of America Inc. (HTA) has purchased Forest Park Tower, a 130,000-square-foot Class A medical office building in Dallas, for $48.7 million. Forest Park Tower was built in 2010 and is located on Forest Park Medical Center's campus. The property was fully leased to a mix of Forest Park and individual physician tenants. The acquisition was funded with proceeds raised through HTA's equity-at-the-market program.

BLOOMSDALE, MO. — McGrath & Associates has completed construction of the $5 million Bloomsdale Medical Center, an expansion of Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital in Bloomsdale, located about 50 miles south of St. Louis. The new facility is a regional center for women’s and family health. The center offers diagnostics, breast care and imaging with five exam rooms, digital mammography, as well as conference rooms and a massage area. Archimages was the architect.
