TITUSVILLE, FLA. — An undisclosed bank has sold a Titusville Comfort Inn to a private party for $3 million. The 117-room property, which was built in 1974, is located at 3655 Cheney Highway. Jaimin Patel of Marcus & Millichap’s Tampa, Fla., office marketed the property for the seller.
PORTAGE, IND. — Best Western International has added Best Western Portage Hotel and Suites to its international hotel chain. Located at 6200 Melton Rd. in Portage, the 100-room hotel features a family aquatic center, a 24-hour fitness center, a game room, complimentary breakfast, a 24-hour business center, wireless high-speed Internet access and meeting space to accommodate up to 120 people. Guest rooms are equipped with refrigerators, microwave and complimentary high-speed Internet access.
SAN ANTONIO — Aries Capital's Urban Development Fund (UDF) has provided $21.5 million in financing for the development of the new Embassy Suites Riverwalk in San Antonio. The hotel will be located on Houston Street along the San Antonio Riverwalk. It will total 16 floors and 285 rooms. Amenities will include a 7,500-square-foot ballroom, a 7,000-square-foot grand atrium and two levels of below-ground parking. The new Embassy Suites is set to anchor the redevelopment of the Houston Street area. UDF's financing package consists of a $17 million senior loan, a $2.25 million junior loan and a $2.25 million equity investment. The investment also includes an allocation of New Market Tax Credits. The borrower's name was not disclosed.
ORANGE BEACH, ALA. — Balmaquien Hospitality, an affiliate of Innisfree Development, has commenced development of a new $31 million beachfront hotel in Orange Beach. The new hotel, which will be branded a Hampton Inn & Suites, will rise nine stories and contain 160 rooms. Amenities will include an outdoor pool with a tiki bar and beach access as well as 5,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel will be situated across from the Shoppes at Palm Pointe. Preliminary site work is under way, with vertical construction expected to start in December. Completion is slated for early 2011. Birmingham, Ala.-based Robins and Morton is serving as general contractor, and Behar & Peteranecz is providing architectural services.
BOLINGBROOK, ILL. — McShane Construction Co., serving as general contractor, has completed the construction of aloft Bolingbrook, which is located at 500 Janes Ave. within The Promenade Bolingbrook in Bolingbrook. The four-story, 155-room hotel features a lobby, a state-of-the-art meeting room, a fitness center and a pool. Additionally, the hotel features its signature w xyz bar. Campbell Architects provided architectural services for the project, which was developed by LTD Management Co. Aloft is a division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
KALAMAZOO, MICH. — InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened its 250th Candlewood Suites hotel. Located in Kalamazoo, the 95-suite hotel features an expanded lobby area with multiple seating areas and a 42-inch flat-screen television; complimentary high-speed Internet access; free local phone calls; free on-site guest laundry; and a 24-hour fitness center. Comstock Hospitality owns and manages the hotel, which is located at 3443 Retail Place Dr., under a license agreement with a company in IHG.
SINGER ISLAND, FLA. — Bethesda, Md.-based Urgo Hotels has purchased the 239-unit Resort at Singer Island from WCI Communities for $7.1 million. The property, which is located on 6 acres of beachfront land in Singer Island, has been rebranded as the Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Beach Resort & Spa. Amenities include an 8,500-square-foot spa, a 1,170-square-foot fitness center and an infinity pool. Urgo purchased the property out of bankruptcy.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. — As part of Hotel Indigo’s North Carolina expansion, Hospitality and Lodging Investors II has opened the 100-room Hotel Indigo Asheville. The property is located at 151 Haywood St. The building is decorated with locally inspired artwork and materials from throughout the region. Guest rooms contain flat-screen TVs and spa-inspired showers.
NEW YORK CITY — Construction has topped out for the new $72 million Doubletree Hotel located in downtown Manhattan, New York City. The building, which is situated at 8 Stone St., rises 43 stories and will contain 399 rooms in 148,000 square feet of space. It is slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2010. It is owned by ABI and AL-Stone LLC. The construction manager is CNY Builders and the project architect is Gene Kaufman Architect PC.
EDISON, N.J. — Following a multi-million dollar renovation, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) will open a five-story Crowne Plaza at 2055 Lincoln Highway in Edison. The newly renovated facility will consist of 169 oversized guest rooms with all-new case goods, soft goods and granite vanities. Other upgrades include a new lighting package, a ballroom and lobby décor and a new courtyard. Amenities will include a steakhouse and lounge, a business center, a fitness room, a concierge lounge and complimentary parking. The hotel will contain more than 12,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, as well as offer the Crowne Plaza Sleep Advantage program, which provides a restful environment along with sleep products and services. Located 15 minutes from Newark Liberty International Airport and a half-hour drive from New York City and the New Jersey shore, the hotel is also in close proximity to Rutgers University, Raritan Convention Center and Woodbridge Mall. Its location also offers access to the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway. Restaurant Rt. 27 LLC, owns the property under a license agreement with an IHG company. Occupancy is slated for second quarter 2008.
