BOSTON — A joint venture plans to develop the 413,536-square-foot Longwood Center, a life sciences and biotechnology facility in Boston. The center will be located in the Longwood Medical Area of the city, which also serves as home to Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, among others. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute will anchor the property, leasing 154,000 square feet of space. The joint venture consists of Clarion Partners, National Development, Charles River Realty Investors and Alexandria Real Estate Equities.

PORTLAND, MAINE — Stag Industrial Inc. has purchased a warehouse and distribution facility in Portland for $5.8 million. The 100,600-square-foot facility was constructed in 1989 and renovated in 2008. The property is fully leased to Office Max Inc., which has 6 years remaining on its lease.
BETHLEHEM, PA. — Crayola, the crayon and art product maker, plans to move its main distribution center from the Harrisburg area. Construction of an 800,000-square-foot warehouse along Route 412 in the Majestic Bethlehem Center is expected to start next month with completion by December. The company is slated to employ between 60 and 80 people at the new center. Crayola plans to consolidate the company's current warehouse operations in Harrisburg and Leigh Valley after the leases for the facilities expire in 2013.
HOUSTON — Houston-based NewQuest Properties has secured the lease of 51,499 square feet of industrial space, located at 7170 W. 43rd St. in Houston. Joey Lumsden of NewQuest represented the tenant, Image Engine, in the lease transaction. Travis Land of NAI Industrial in Houston represented the landlord.
CARLSBAD, CALIF. — PODS of San Diego has signed an 84-month lease extension for 64,541 square feet of industrial space in the Carlsbad Oaks Business Park. The lease is valued at $3,808,322. PODS will continue to use the space for its office and warehouse needs. The company was represented by Michael Mazzotta of Colliers International. The landlord, Del Norte Farms Inc., Quattro Partners, LLC, and BLT Alameda/Newark, LP, represented themselves in this transaction.
DUNCAN, S.C. — Perrigo Co. has signed a 300,000-square-foot lease, located at 110 Hidden Lake Cir. in Duncan. The company will relocate and expand its operations from the SC Technology and Aviation Center in Greenville, S.C. Grice Hunt and Ford Borders of Greenville-based NAI Earle Furman represented the tenant in the lease transaction.
ALSIP, ILL. — Meridian Design Build has been selected as general contractor for a 38-acre redevelopment project for Polmax Transportation at 122nd and Centeral in Alsip. Demolition is currently underway at the site, previously home to an auto auction mall. The project includes a 150,585-square-foot cross dock facility that will include truck maintenance and repair bays, a truck wash and 20,000 square feet of corporate offices. areté-Knight is providing architectural services and Hoefferle-Butler is completing the engineering work.
GLENDALE, CALIF. —Glendale-based Public Storage has purchased a six-property self-storage portfolio for $42 million. The portfolio consists of 517,000 square feet and 5,500 storage units. The properties are located in Philadelphia; Wayne, N.J.; Randolph, Mass.; Montclair, Calif.; and Pompano Beach and Hialeah, Fla. The portfolio is currently 65 percent occupied. Marc Boorstein and Jeff Jacobson of MJ Partners represented the seller, Babcock and Brown and four lenders, in the transaction.
LAS COLINAS — TMG-C Decor has purchased a 118,000-square-foot industrial building, located at 1411 W. Walnut Hill Ln. in Las Colinas. The building will serve as the company's corporate headquarters. Larry Robbins of Dallas-based Capstone Commercial and Allen Gump of Colliers International's Dallas office negotiated the transaction.
SOUTHLAKE — Dallas-based Bradford Commercial Real Estate Services has arranged a 94,993-square-foot, full-building lease in Heritage Business Park Building 1, located at 1100 Kimball Ave. in Southlake. Michael Spain of Bradford Commercial represented the landlord, Hawaii-based A&B Properties, in the lease transaction. Reggie Beavan of Jackson & Cooksey represented the tenant, Specialized Products Co.
