Moving toward the start of a fresh academic year, the outlook for the student housing industry keeps getting brighter. A testament to the industry’s movement out of the pandemic is taking place at the InterFace Student Housing conference in Austin, where nearly 1,300 attendees have been able to gather in-person for the first time since April 2019. This year’s event, which concludes today, is taking place at the JW Marriott downtown. The student housing sector banded together like never before in the face of COVID-19 and truly worked as a team throughout the pandemic, with the ultimate goal of keeping students as safe as possible. COLUMBUS, OHIO — Six new retailers and restaurants have joined the tenant lineup at Easton Town Center, a retail destination in Columbus co-developed by The Georgetown Co., L Brands and Steiner + Associates. UpWest has opened its fourth store and its first in Ohio. The brand offers apparel, sleep, wellness and home goods products for men and women. Brassica, now open, is a Columbus restaurant known for its sandwiches and salads that are inspired by Eastern Mediterranean cuisine. Buff City Soap has opened its first location in Columbus. The retailer offers scented soaps that are made with plant-based ingredients. The breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant Another Broken Egg will open at Easton Town Center this fall. Afra Grill, also opening this fall, offers dishes inspired by authentic African flavors, spices and sauces. Lastly, Boss Gal Beauty Bar is scheduled to open in September. This will be the third central Ohio location for the tenant, which offers a facial bar and private medical treatment rooms. Easton Town Center spans 2.9 million square feet.

FRISCO, TEXAS — Common Desk, a Dallas-based provider of flexible workspace solutions, has opened a 25,000-square-foot coworking space at Hall Park, a 162-acre office development in Frisco. Members have access to unlimited conference room use, community events, private chat booths, wellness rooms and beverages from Fiction Coffee. Members can also use the fitness center, onsite dining options, car care center and full-service banks that operate out of Hall Park, as well as the property’s jogging trails, event lawn and sculpture garden.

CHICAGO — Tock, a restaurant technology provider, has signed a 51,000-square-foot office lease at 320 N. Sangamon in Chicago’s Fulton Market district. The company provides restaurants with a system for streamlining reservations, events, takeout and delivery. Tock plans to take occupancy of the fifth and sixth floors in January 2022. Developer and owner Tishman Speyer recently completed 320 N. Sangamon in partnership with Chicago-based Mark Goodman & Associates. Ellen May, Adam Mitchel and Olivia Parker of Tishman Speyer are the property’s leasing agents. Solomon Cordwell Buenz was the architect. Website building and e-commerce platform Squarespace acquired Tock in March of this year.

ATLANTA — SJC Ventures has signed new tenant, The Taste Boutique, to The Interlock in Atlanta. Located at 1115 Howell Mill Road Northwest, The Interlock is a $450 million mixed-use development with entertainment, living and dining options, office space and outdoor connections. Taste Boutique will occupy 1,448 square feet of space and offer women’s and men’s apparel, home decor items and gifts. This location will be the first brick and mortar store for the lifestyle retailer, which has operated entirely online for 10 years. Taste Boutique is expected to open at the beginning of 2022. SJC Ventures, the Atlanta-based developer of The Interlock, also recently welcomed the first U.S. location for Puttshack, several first-to-market restaurants and The Bellyard, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel. The developer also signed a lease with Publix for the project’s second phase. SJC Ventures, formerly S.J. Collins Enterprises, is a mixed-use commercial real estate development firm. The Interlock is a nine-acre property with 200,000 square feet of loft office space, 105,000 square feet for retail and restaurant space, 349 apartments, 18 townhomes, 70 single-family homes and the 161-room Bellyard. Carter-Park-East-Fort-Worth

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — HomeGoods, a division of Massachusetts-based discount retail giant TJX Cos., will open a 1 million-square-foot distribution center within Carter Park East, a 556-acre industrial development in Fort Worth. The 100-acre build-to-suit property will also serve as a regional distribution center for HomeGoods’ sister brand, Homesense. Seth Koschak, Jeff Rein and Forrest Cook of Stream Realty Partners represented the developers of the building, New York-based Clarion Partners and a fund advised by Crow Holdings Capital, in the lease negotiations. Tony Kepano and Nathan Lawrence with CBRE represented the tenant. Rob Riner Cos. is the master developer of Carter Park East, which is located south of Interstate 20 and east of Interstate 35 on the south side of Fort Worth.

AMHERST, N.H. — Empire Moulding & Millwork, a division of Novo Building Products, has signed a 217,000-square-foot industrial lease in Amherst, located outside of Nashua in the southern part of the Granite State. The facility is expected to open in the fourth quarter and to employ at least 70 people. Novo Building Products is a Michigan-based manufacturer and distributor of stair parts, mouldings, doors and specialty millwork, along with a variety of board products.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Regional developer Diversified Properties has completed the lease-up of 480 Flatz, a 35-unit apartment complex in the Northern New Jersey community of East Rutherford. The property, which is now fully occupied, features one-, two- and three-bedroom units with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and in-unit washers and dryers. Diversified Properties developed the property in a joint venture with North Jersey Builders Group.

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J. — Round Table Studios, a provider of flexible and coworking solutions, has opened a 40,000-square-foot space in the Northern New Jersey city of Berkeley Heights. The space is located within The Park, a 185-acre mixed-use redevelopment. The space features configurable office suite studios, on-demand meeting rooms, a traditional coworking gallery and an upscale coworking library. Members also have access to The Park’s onsite amenities, including a 12,000-square-foot fitness center, biking and walking trails and a health clinic.

Zeta-Inwood-Manhattan

NEW YORK CITY — Zeta Charter Schools will open a 124,000-square-foot academic institution at 400 W. 219th St. in Upper Manhattan. The school, which will be called Zeta Inwood, will serve students from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade and is slated to open ahead of the 2023-2024 academic year. The campus will have multiple outdoor play areas, including a 10,000-square-foot rooftop playground as well as a separate early childhood playground and an indoor basketball court. Bolivar Development is constructing the eight-story building that will house the new school. Lindsay Ornstein, Stephen Powers and Thomas Hines of Transwestern provided tenant advisory services for Zeta Charter Schools.
