MIDLAND, TEXAS — Dick’s Sporting Goods will open a 45,000-square-foot store at Simon’s Property Group’s Midland Park Mall in West Texas. The grand opening will be held over the course of this weekend. The enclosed shopping and dining destination was built in 1980 and is currently anchored by J.C. Penney, Bealls and Ross Dress for Less. Pittsburgh-based Dick’s Sporting Goods, which also opened three new stores in Northeastern malls this month, as well as one in metro Atlanta, is backfilling an anchor space at Midland Park Mall that was previously occupied by Dillard’s.

NEW YORK CITY — Los Angeles-based City National Bank has signed a 35,643-square-foot office lease renewal at 1140 Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan. The company has committed to an additional 10 years at the 250,000-square-foot building and will also open a 3,400-square-foot branch on the ground floor as part of the new agreement. Todd Korren of Avison Young represented the landlord, an affiliate of New York City REIT, in the lease negotiations. Lynn Williams and Jeffrey Welch of CBRE represented the tenant.

GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS — Chicken N Pickle, an entertainment concept that pairs the food and drink of a chef-driven restaurant with pickleball and other games, will open a restaurant and entertainment venue in the central metroplex city of Grand Prairie. The venue, which is scheduled to open in 2021, will feature indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, lawn games, a rooftop bar and a full-service restaurant. Chicken N Pickle Grand Prairie will also offer clinics for players of all experience levels, as well as professional and amateur tournaments. The company is pursuing a joint venture with the City of Grand Prairie wherein the city will own the land, develop parking needs and lease to Chicken N Pickle for this use. Chicken N Pickle opened its flagship venue in Kansas City in 2017 and also brought its concept to San Antonio earlier this year.

CHICAGO — Chamberlain University, known for its nursing school, has signed a lease for 75,000 square feet of educational space at Riverview at Roscoe on Chicago’s North Side. Baum Revision acquired the office property in a joint venture with Meridian Capital in March of this year. The property is currently undergoing capital improvements with a focus on wellness to achieve LEED Platinum certification. Patrick Russo, Adam Showalter and Jessica O’Hara of Stream Realty Partners have been retained to lease and market the property. There are 40,000 square feet remaining available for lease. Chamberlain has locations across the United States in addition to online programs.

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. — Pharmaceutical giant Bristol Myers Squibb has signed a 360,000-square-foot life sciences lease at Cambridge Crossing in metro Boston, according to multiple news outlets including industry publication fiercebiotech.com and The Boston Business Journal. The former reports that Bristol Myers Squibb will occupy a building located at 250 Water St. beginning in early 2023. DivcoWest is the developer of the 2.1 million-square-foot campus, which is under construction and will also feature traditional office and retail space, as well as open green space.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Hobby Lobby is in the midst of expanding its Florida footprint with three new 55,000-square-foot stores. The Oklahoma City-based arts and crafts retailer opened a location in Panama City Beach on July 6, a store within Terra’s Pines City Center in Pembroke Pines on Aug. 8 and will open a store in Urban-X Group’s River Landing project in Miami on Sept. 8. Hobby Lobby locations are typically single-story stores in suburban areas. The location in River Landing will be the first multi-level Hobby Lobby. David Emihovich of Katz & Associates represented Hobby Lobby in the lease negotiations.

TEANECK, N.J — Multinational corporation Cognizant has signed a 36,000-square-foot office lease at Glenpointe Center East in Teaneck, located northwest of New York City, for its new office headquarters. Glenpointe Center East features a 26,000-square-foot spa and fitness center, as well as a restaurant, wine bar and a lounge. Gregg Najarian and Nate Brzozowski of Savills represented the tenant in the lease negotiations. The landlord, Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, was represented internally.

NORTH HAVEN, CONN. — Locally based brokerage firm Pearce Commercial has negotiated a 4,500-square-foot industrial lease at 355 Sackett Point Road in North Haven. According to LoopNet Inc., the property was built in 1988 and totals 64,000 square feet. Dave Melillo of Pearce Commercial represented the tenant, Greenskies Renewable Energy LLC, and the landlord, 355 Sackett Point Road LLC.

HASTINGS, MICH. — Jaqua Realtors has opened a new office at the corner of Jefferson and State streets in Hastings, about 38 miles southeast of Grand Rapids. This is Jaqua’s 10th office location. Three new team members have joined the brokerage at the Hastings office. Jaqua focuses on residential and commercial real estate, as well as vacation rentals and property management.

TOLLESON, ARIZ. — MiTek, a diversified global supplier of services and products to the residential and commercial construction sectors, has expanded its presence in Arizona by leasing 412,921 square feet of industrial space in two manufacturing facilities in Tolleson. The company renewed its lease for 259,200 square feet at 7890 W. Lincoln Street for a term of more than eight years. Additionally, MiTek signed a 10-year lease for 153,721 square feet of space at 7506 W. Lincoln Street. The company plans to relocate some out-of-state operations to the facility at 7506 W. Lincoln St., with occupancy beginning on Nov. 1, 2020. Payson MacWilliam, Don MacWilliam and Chris Reese of Colliers International in Arizona worked with Kevin Gallagher of Colliers St. Louis to represent MiTek in both lease transactions. John Werstler, Cooper Fratt and Pat Feeney of CBRE represented the landlord in the lease at 7506 W. Lincoln Street. The two Class A facilities are located within Tolleson Corporate Park and owned by California State Teachers’ Retirement System.
