QUINCY, ILL. — Quincy Medical Group plans to open a new surgery and cancer treatment center at Quincy Mall in central western Illinois. The healthcare provider will occupy about half of the approximately 105,000 square feet on two floors of the former Bergner’s space. Quincy Medical Group will also have the opportunity for expansion on both first and second floors. Cullinan Properties Ltd. owns and manages the mall. The firm continues to identify new national retail tenants for the mall. Three new restaurants opened at the property within the last year.
Leasing Activity
TYSONS, VA. — KPMG, one of the world’s Big Four accounting firms, has signed a lease to occupy up to seven floors of The Boro, an under construction 20-story office tower in Tysons. The Meridian Group and Rockefeller Group are co-developing the tower, with Skanska constructing the Gensler-designed building. KPMG plans to relocate approximately 1,830 employees from its current office at 1676 International Drive in Tysons to the new property in 2019. The move brings preleasing to more than 60 percent ahead of construction completion, with approximately 178,000 square feet remaining at the tower. Additional committed tenants include Hogan Lovells, a global law firm, TEGNA, Whole Foods Market and Kerasotes Showplace Theatres. Situated on 15 acres, the transit-oriented property will feature office, retail, restaurant and outdoor space. The LEED Gold-designed tower features nine- to 10-foot ceilings, efficient floorplans and a rooftop terrace. CHICAGO — Away Travel has signed a 1,200-square-foot retail lease at the corner of State and Cedar streets in Chicago. The travel and lifestyle brand offers high-quality luggage at affordable prices. Expected to open in time for the holiday shopping season, this will be the seventh retail storefront for Away Travel. The brand originally started as an online-only concept. Founded by two Warby Parker alumni, Away Travel will be located adjacent to a Warby Parker store. Janika Brenner and Adam Secher of Baum Realty Group LLC, along with Peter Block of Colliers International, represented the undisclosed landlord in the lease transaction. Jason Trombley of JLL represented Away Travel.
EL PASO, TEXAS — Pilot Freight Services, a transportation and logistics firm, has signed an 87,726-square-foot industrial lease at 445 Pan American Drive in El Paso. The company will occupy 100 percent of the property, which represents the first speculative industrial space built in El Paso during this cycle. Arturo de La Mora and Christian Perez Giese of CBRE represented the landlord and developer, Hanson Asset Management LP, in the lease negotiations. Chad McCleskey of CBRE represented the tenant.
OMAHA — Flywheel, a web hosting company, has leased 66,000 square feet within the Millwork Commons development in Omaha for its new headquarters. Millwork Commons is a $300 million mixed-use development spearheaded by Black Dog Management. Flywheel will be the anchor tenant and will occupy 1.5 floors at the property by summer 2020. Currently, Flywheel employs a team of more than 200 people with offices in Omaha, Australia and Europe. Barry Zoob and Chris Mensinger of Colliers International represented Flywheel in the lease transaction.
NORTHVILLE, MICH. — Burn Boot Camp has leased 6,240 square feet to open a Northville location at 16831-16863 Ridge Road. The North Carolina-based fitness center franchise has more than 65 locations nationally. This will be the company’s fourth fitness center in Michigan. The company offers high-intensity classes that last 45 minutes. Thomas Wardlow of Colliers International represented the tenant in the lease transaction. The landlord was not disclosed. Burn Boot Camp hopes to be open before the end of the year.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Lee & Associates New Jersey has secured a 526,400-square-foot industrial lease for XPO Logistics in South Brunswick. Lee & Associates represented XPO Logistics in securing a long term lease with owner Prologis. The property is located at 115 Interstate Boulevard and previously served as the Tory Burch Distribution Center.
ROMEOVILLE, ILL. — RJW Transport has signed a 416,504-square-foot industrial lease at 50 Southcreek Parkway in Romeoville. This is the third major lease for RJW this year for a combined total of 1.2 million square feet. The trucking and logistics company previously signed leases in Woodridge and Bolingbrook. Dominic Carbonari of JLL represented RJW in its latest lease. The landlord was not disclosed.
CHICAGO — Hektoen Institute of Medicine has opened a 6,190-square-foot office at 1339 S. Wood St. in the Illinois Medical District of Chicago. The 11,700-square-foot building is also home to Vertiport Chicago, the only vertical helicopter landing facility in the city. Larry Cohn and Becca Lundstrom of @properties Commercial represented Hektoen in the lease transaction. The lease is for seven years.
RICHARDSON, TEXAS — MetroPCS Communications Inc. has renewed its 115,583-square-foot office lease at Lakeside Centre II, an office property located at 2250 Lakeside Blvd. in the northeastern Dallas metro of Richardson. Tim Terrell and Chase Lopez of Stream Realty Partners represented the landlord, Vereit, in the lease negotiations. CBRE represented the tenant.
