CHICAGO — Loja Real Estate has acquired a portfolio of four Chicago grocery store properties from a former unit of Safeway Inc. for $95 million. The single-tenant grocery store properties were purchased from Dominick’s Finer Foods LLC in a transaction that closed Nov. 13, according to Tom Engberg, CEO of Loja Real Estate. The acquisitions consist of a total of 238,462 square feet of leasable space on 12.4 acres. Mariano’s Fresh Market, which opened earlier this year, anchors three of the properties. A Whole Foods, which is expected to open in the spring of 2015, anchors the other property. Guy Ponticiello of JLL represented Safeway as the investment sale advisor in the transaction.

DES PLAINES, ILL. — McShane Construction Co. has completed the 112,065-square-foot renovation of an industrial building transforming it into a food preparation facility for DO & CO Chicago Catering Inc. The property is located at 2150 Frontage Road in Des Plaines. McShane enhanced the overall shell of the building to support new refrigeration components, kitchen equipment and upgraded building and safety systems. The facility’s office, warehouse and production areas were modernized with contemporary features to optimize operational efficiencies. Harris Architects Inc. provided architectural services for the project. DO & CO is a catering company based in Vienna, Austria, active in airline, train and international events catering. The foodservice firm has expanded its services to O’Hare International Airport.

WESTMONT, ILL. — Darwin Realty & Development Corp. has arranged the sale of a 23,164-square-foot industrial building in Westmont. The property is situated on more than two acres located at 50 W. Ogden Ave. Built in 2005, the property features 7,200 square feet of office space and 18-foot to 24-foot clear ceiling heights. George Cibula and Noel Liston represented the seller, a private investor. Brian Butler of The Butler Group represented the buyer, Breen Horizon LLC, which plans to lease the property.

CHICAGO — Reed Construction will complete the renovation of a data center for Aon Corp. in Chicago. The Aon Center is located at 200 E. Randolph St. Aon is a global provider of risk management services, insurance and reinsurance brokerage, and human resource consulting and outsourcing. The construction, which is scheduled for completion in December, consists of demolishing the existing data center to create a 5,800-square-foot space including a smaller data center, conference rooms and an open office area for 36 workstations. Steve Sandquist is the project manager for Reed Construction. IA Interior Architects is providing architectural services.

BURR RIDGE, ILL. — Lee & Associates has arranged the lease renewal of a 10,497-square-foot industrial research and development space in Burr Ridge, an affluent suburb of Chicago. Medi-Physics Inc. will occupy space located at 161 Tower Drive, Suite A. Terry Grapenthin and Jeff Galante of Lee & Associates of Illinois LLC represented the landlord, IndCor Properties. Ron Weber of CBRE represented the tenant in the transaction.

The development sits on a three-acre parcel at 747 East 47th St. in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. The Shops and Lofts at 47 spans 202,000 square feet and is anchored by a 41,000-square-foot Walmart Neighborhood Market. It also includes 96 apartments in one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts.

CREST HILL, ILL. — Marcus & Millichap has arranged the sale of 1473 N. Rock Run Drive, a 12-unit apartment complex in Crest Hill, for $802,500. Ryan D. Engle, Andrean Angelov and Adam Fortino of Marcus & Millichap’s Chicago Oak Brook office marketed the property on behalf of the seller, a limited liability company. Engle, Angelov and Fortino also represented the buyer, a limited liability company. The property consists of four one-bedroom units and eight two-bedroom units measuring between 700 and 800 square feet.

WARRENVILLE, ILL. — Reed Construction will build a new Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Center for Cadence Cancer Center in Warrenville, approximately 31 miles west of Chicago. The project will feature a two-story, ground-up addition to the existing facility to create a new, state-of-the-art advanced radiation treatment center for adults and children. The 11,268-square-foot build-out will include the addition of multiple offices, post/pre operation rooms, a nurses’ station and conference room. The property is located at 4405 Weaver Pkwy. Scott Pickands and Cy Rangel will lead Reed’s construction team, which includes Jack Sbertoli and Jim Blake. RTKL is providing architectural services. The project is scheduled for completion in March 2015.

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, ILL. — IMPACT Strategies has completed construction of a HomeGoods store in Fairview Heights. The 24,000-square-foot store is located at U.S. Highway 159 across from St. Claire Square in the new Fairview City Centre. MCG Architecture of Cleveland designed the store. Since August 2013, IMPACT Strategies has built nearly 112,000-square-feet of new retail space as part of Fairview City Centre for retailers including Sports Authority, Petco, OfficeMax and Fresh Thyme Farmers Market. In phase I, IMPACT demolished the existing structure, which formerly housed a Kmart and other retailers. In spring 2014, IMPACT began phase II of construction, which included building Fresh Thyme and the space for the center’s fifth tenant, HomeGoods. Kimco Realty Corp. owns the shopping center.

ROLLING MEADOWS, ILL. — MB Real Estate has arranged a 105,437-square-foot lease renewal for the headquarters of Komatsu America Corp. in Rolling Meadows. Komatsu America Corp. will occupy space located within Continental Tower I at 1701 Golf Road in the Northwest suburb of Chicago. The company is a U.S. subsidiary of Komatsu Ltd., a manufacturer and supplier of earth-moving equipment, consisting of construction, mining and compact construction equipment. The firm operates its U.S. headquarters from the Rolling Meadows location. The company maintains a world headquarters in Tokyo, as well as locations in more than 150 countries. Michael Hull of MB Real Estate represented Komatsu America Corp. in the lease renewal. Dave Trumpy of GlenStar Properties represented ownership.
