GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. — West Michigan Transport, a freight brokerage headquartered in Holland, Mich., is opening a new office in Grand Rapids. The 10,000-square-foot office is scheduled to open in September. West Michigan Transport says the expansion to Grand Rapids comes in response to the increasing demand for logistics solutions. The company plans to hire 100 individuals, ranging from entry-level sales and operational roles to experienced account managers. NEW BUFFALO, MICH. — Marcus & Millichap has brokered the $1.8 million sale of the Bliss Point Inn hotel in New Buffalo, which is located just north of the Indiana state border and along Lake Michigan. Located at 11539 O’Brien Court, the property includes 90 rooms. Ebrahim Valliani and Michael Klar of Marcus & Millichap represented the buyer and seller, both private investors. Chris Gomes and Allan Miller of Marcus & Millichap were also listed on the deal as supporting brokers. Steve Chaben, the broker of record in Michigan, assisted in closing the transaction.

Zach Cummings and Ryan Stipp of Friedman represented the seller, NSH USA, a manufacturer of specialized and multifunction machine tools and automation systems for railway, automotive, aerospace and other industrial manufacturers worldwide. AVON, IND. AND CANTON, MICH. — Marcus & Millichap has arranged the sales of two Childtime childcare properties in Avon, Ind., and Canton, Mich. The properties sold for $2.6 million each. Both had corporate guarantee from Learning Care Group and seven-year lease extensions. Dominic Sulo of Marcus & Millichap represented the seller, a limited liability company. Adrian Mendoza, Austin Weisenbeck and Sean Sharko of Marcus & Millichap secured and represented the buyer, a private investor.
AUBURN HILLS, MICH. — Northmarq has brokered the $8.6 million sale of a 77,100-square-foot industrial property in Auburn Hills. The single-tenant facility is fully leased to the Morrell Group, including its division Stegner Controls, which is a motion controls manufacturer that services dozens of industries including the automotive industry. The property at 3333 Bald Mountain Road was built in 1998 and renovated in 2021. It features 57,825 square feet of warehouse space and 19,275 square feet of office space. BJ Feller and Josh Dicker of Northmarq represented the seller, a Michigan-based developer. The buyer was a California-based private investor.

DETROIT — Bernard Financial Group (BFG) has arranged a $31 million loan for the construction of a new AC Hotel in Detroit. Dennis Bernard, Dan Duggan, Joshua Bernard and Adam Ferguson of BFG structured the loan on behalf of the borrower, an entity doing business as AC Detroit Holdings LLC. Further details of the transaction were not provided. The AC Hotel chain is under Marriott.
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, MICH. — Woda Cooper Cos. Inc. has opened Woodward Way Apartments in Meridian Township, just east of Lansing. The 49-unit affordable housing community is comprised of two buildings and features amenities such as a multipurpose room, laundry facility, playground and picnic area. Units are reserved for those who earn 30 to 80 percent of the area median income. There are five units for residents with physical disabilities and one unit for sight and hearing disabilities. Eight units have rental assistance through project-based vouchers awarded by the Lansing Housing Commission. Monthly rents range from $391 to $1,175, depending on income restriction and size of unit. Financing for the $13.9 million development came from Low-Income Housing Tax Credits allocated by Michigan State Housing Development Authority through its Qualified Allocation Plan, which aims to identify where affordable housing is most needed in the state. Syndicator Marble Cliff Capital provided equity financing by purchasing the tax credits. Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust provided a permanent mortgage, and First National Bank of America provided a construction loan.
