CHICAGO — Essex Realty Group has brokered the sales of four apartment buildings in Chicago. The properties sold for a combined total of $1.13 million. The properties include a 19-unit walk-up multifamily building located at 7419 S. Phillips in Chicago’s South Shore; a vintage six-flat apartment building located at 327 S. Central Park in Chicago’s Garfield Park; a three-flat building located at 3108 W. Polk in the Lawndale neighborhood; and a three-flat property located at 3038 W. Flournoy, also in the Lawndale neighborhood. David Goss and Jon Morgan of Essex brokered the transactions.

WOOD DALE, ILL. — Horizon Logistics, dba Itasca, Ill.-based Seko Worldwide, has leased 39,322 square feet of industrial space at 101 Mark St. in Wood Dale. The tenant is expanding and relocating from 1470 Thorndale Ave. in Elk Grove Village. The 177,014-square-foot facility, which Seko will occupy, features 7,986 square feet of office space, 24-foot clear ceiling heights, five exterior docks and one drive-in door. Elise Couston, Theresa Gleason and Patrick Fitzgerald of Paine/Wetzel•ONCOR International represented the tenant; Kevin Segerson of CB Richard Ellis represented the landlord, Invesco.
ST. LOUIS — Opus NW has completed the development of Nine North, a condominium complex located at 9 N. Euclid in the Central West End of St. Louis. The mid-rise building offers units with hardwood floors, 10-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, Bosch kitchen appliances, European-style bath features and private balconies. Community amenities include an urban garden area, a pool, a hot tub, a fitness center, a grilling area and perennial gardens.
AURORA, ILL. — Bridge Development Partners leased 55,000 square feet at its Park Butterfield property, which is located at 3557 Butterfield Rd. in Aurora, to Chicago-based InnerWorkings Inc. The tenant plans to consolidate two locations in Naperville and Carol Stream, Ill., to the Park Butterfield property. Bridge is currently completing 5,000 square feet of build out of office space for the tenant. Occupancy is scheduled for October. Scott Kulberg of Studley Inc. represented InnerWorkings; Steve Connolly, Mark Moran and Dan Wilkins of Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based NAI Hiffman represented the landlord in the lease transaction.
BLOOMINGTON, MINN. — Holiday Inn Bloomington Airport I-35, which is managed by North Liberty, Iowa-based Kinseth Hospitality Cos., is currently undergoing the Holiday Inn brand relaunch. The renovated the hotel now features improved signage, new outdoor lighting, landscaping, a redesigned lobby and reception desk, high-speed Internet access, an indoor pool, a whirlpool and Green Mill Restaurant & Bar. The guest rooms feature signature comfort bedding, four-function showerheads, granite vanities and 100 percent ultra soft cotton linens. The hotel is located at 1201 W. 94th St. in Bloomington.
SKOKIE, ILL. — Vetter Development Services USA Inc. has signed a long-term lease at the Illinois Science + Technology Park in Skokie. Headquartered in Ravensburg, Germany, the global biopharmaceutical contract manufacturing company plans to occupy approximately 25,000 square feet at 8025 Lamon Ave. within the park. Forest City Science + Technology Group developed the 23-acre corporate office and research campus, which offers 660,000 square feet of space. Additional details of the transaction were not disclosed.
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MINN. — Patrick Minea of NorthMarq Capital’s Minneapolis regional office arranged a $28 million first mortgage for Mendota Office Center I, II, III, IV and American Corporate Center. Located in Mendota Heights, the properties offer a total of 420,216 square feet of office space. Financing was provided by State Farm Life Insurance Co.
NORTH BRANCH, MINN., AND FRANKLIN, WIS. — Welsh Capital recently closed on two loans totaling $6.4 million for two commercial properties in North Branch and Franklin. In the first transaction, Welsh arranged $1.5 million in refinancing for a 54-unit multifamily property in North Branch. In the second transaction, $4.9 million in acquisition financing (loan assumption) was secured for a 155,320-square-foot multi-tenant industrial building in Franklin. Additional terms of the transactions were not disclosed.
DAYTON, OHIO — Love Funding’s Washington, D.C., office has secured a $1.4 million loan for the refinancing of Country Brooke, a 107-unit multifamily housing complex in Dayton. The 285,579-square-foot complex consists of six two-and-a-half story buildings and features a playground, picnic areas with grills and laundry facilities. Holly Bray of Love Funding originated the 25-year loan, which carries a 5.55 percent fixed-interest rate, through the HUD 207/223(f) loan program.
OMAHA, NEB. — Omaha-based Darland Construction Co. has begun construction for a new academic facility at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha. The Harold M. and Beverly Maurer Center for Public Health will be a three-story, 56,978-square-foot building that will house the UNMC College of Public Health. It will contain 106 offices, 11 classrooms and a computer lab. The project will also be seeking LEED certification. The facility will open for the fall 2010 semester. The projects architect is Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture.
