CLEVELAND — Grubb & Ellis has represented Sottile Properties in the acquisition of 100,680 square feet of industrial space on 7 acres at 3636 West 58th St. in Cleveland. Sottile Properties purchased the property on behalf of Cleveland-based National Safety Apparel for $500,000 from Plastech Interior Systems, whose parent company, Plastech Engineered Products, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February. The existing building, which sold at a deep discount due to the bankruptcy proceedings, will be demolished to make way for a new LEED-certified distribution facility. Terry Coyne of Grubb & Ellis’ global logistics group represented Sottile Properties in the transaction.

CHICAGO — Cape Horn Group has completed three sales at The LaSalle Wacker, a 41-story, 414,000-square-foot office condo tower in Chicago. Greaves Travel acquired the entire 25th floor, relocating from a building it owned at 304 W. Randolph, which is scheduled to be demolished to make way for The John Buck Company’s proposed 222 W. Randolph office tower development. Eric Sorenson and Chris Tarzon of The John Buck Company represented Greaves Travel; Larry Cohn of Cape Horn Group negotiated the purchase on behalf of the building owner. Also, Scheff and Associates, a court reporting and stenographic services company, purchased 1,053 square feet of office space on The LaSalle Wacker’s 19th floor. The buyer was represented by Tom Reeves of Dreamtown Realty. Finally, Ernest P. Chiodo acquired a 621-square-foot office space on the eighth floor. Cape Horn Group was represented in-house by Noel Ross.

BROADVIEW, ILL. —Mid-America Asset Management, the third-party retail asset management arm of Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based Mid-America Real Estate Group, has signed LA Fitness to a 50,040-square-foot lease within Broadview Village Square in Broadview. The fitness chain is expected to open early next year within the space, which is a portion of a recently vacated Target location. Target has relocated and expanded within the 720,970-square-foot shopping center, which is located at the corner of Cermak Road and 17th Avenue. Richard Spinell and Liz Krebs of Mid-America Asset Management negotiated on behalf of the landlord, while Jeff Kuchman and Willie Hoag of Mid-America Real Estate Corp. represented LA Fitness.

BRIDGEVIEW, ILL. —Walter Murphy of Lee & Associates of Illinois has represented Logistics Management in leasing 120,099 square feet of space at 7557 S. 78th St. in the Chicago suburb of Bridgeview. The tenant signed a lease for the warehouse space with landlord Heller VII-VIII Partnership LP, which was represented by Steve Connolly of NAI Hiffman. The value of the lease transaction was not disclosed.

OVERLAND PARK, KAN. — NorthMarq Capital has arranged combined first mortgage financing for two apartment complexes in Overland Park. Greg Duvall of the company’s Kansas City office secured the $22.26 million financing as embedded cap variable rate loans through Freddie Mac’s streamline refinance program. The unnamed borrower has obtained the financing for the 336-unit Claremont Apartments, which was financing at $18.86 million, and the 98-unit Coventry Oaks Apartments, which was financed at $3.4 million.

MILWAUKEE — InterContinental Hotels Group has opened the Staybridge Suites Milwaukee Airport South, a 118-room hotel located near the General Mitchell International Airport in the Milwaukee metro area. The $12 million hotel is the first Staybridge Suites in the city, and one of three scheduled to open this year in the metro area. The other two are underway in downtown Milwaukee and suburban Oconomowoc, Wis. The all-suite, extended-stay hotel, which is located at 9575 S. 27th St. in Franklin, Wis., is owned by Franklin Hotel Company and is managed by The Bricton Group.

WAUKESHA, WIS. — The Milwaukee office of CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) has brokered the sale of a 14,050-square-foot industrial facility located at 405 Wilmont Dr. in Waukesha. Spanish olive grower Seville Imports acquired the building from former occupant Gray’s Tool and Manufacturing for use as distribution and warehouse space. Karl Wiedenman of CBRE negotiated the disposition on behalf of Gray’s Tool and Manufacturing. The price of the sale was not disclosed.

THOMPSON THRIFT SIGNS MCDONALD’S TO PAD LEASE IN POWER CENTER FORT WAYNE, IND. —Thompson Thrift, a real estate development and construction company with offices in Carmel and Terre Haute, Ind., has signed a 20-year lease with McDonald’s for a 1.1-acre outlot within the company’s Lima Marketplace. The power center, which is located at 9827 Lima Rd in Fort Wayne, also features PetSmart, Office Depot, Dollar Tree and Arby’s. Jeff Wright of Thompson Thrift negotiated the lease on behalf of the owner; Jessica Howell of The Zacher Company represented McDonald’s.
