PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, MICH. — Michigan-based J.S. Vig Construction Co. has broken ground for the development of the new Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Located in Pittsfield Township, the 54,423-square-foot facility will contain wet and dry laboratories, conference facilities, a library, a marine instrumentation shop and office space. The new building will be nearly double the size of NOAA’s existing facility, which is located in Ann Arbor, Mich. Completion is scheduled for later this year.

INDIANAPOLIS — Grubb & Ellis Healthcare REIT has acquired an approximately 34,000-square-foot medical office building located in Indianapolis. Epler Park Building B is located at 5550 S. East St., and is 95 percent leased to multiple tenants. The property is located near Community Hospital South, which recently launched a $130 million expansion. The seller and the acquisition price were undisclosed.

BLOOMINGDALE, ILL. — The Chicago office of NorthMarq Capital has secured $7 million in first-mortgage financing for Deer Glen Apartments, a 216-unit multifamily community located in Bloomingdale. Financing was based on a 5-year term plus one, with a 30-year amortization schedule. Sue Blumberg arranged the financing with Freddie Mac on behalf of Deer Glen at Bloomingdale LLC.

KANSAS CITY, MO. — Noble Investment Group has acquired the 295-room Kansas City Marriott Country Club Plaza, located in Kansas City. The 19-story hotel features 16,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 42-seat amphitheater. Additional amenities include two concierge levels, the Main Street Grill restaurant, a lobby lounge, an executive business center, a fitness center and an indoor swimming pool. Noble will operate the hotel under a long-term license agreement with Marriott International. The hotel also will undergo an $8.8 million renovation. The seller, as well as the acquisition price, was undisclosed.

LISLE, ILL. — Chicago-based Wrightwood Capital has acquired a 101,000-square-foot distribution building located at 2100 Ogden Ave. in Lisle. The property is fully occupied by Vantage Blue, and includes 21.5-foot clear ceiling heights, eight exterior docks, four drive-in doors and 9,500 square feet of office space. The transaction was negotiated by Michael Robbins and Benjamin Cremer of NAI Hiffman. The purchase marks the 17th acquisition on behalf of Wrightwood Capital’s Industrial Property Fund III.

The $7.9 million project comprises a 58,000-square-foot Schnucks grocery store, as well as 9,000 square feet of retail space, which is occupied by Harrison Telephone Communications, Lily’s Nail Spa, Custom Cuts and Wilson’s Corner Grill & Pub. The project was designed by St. Louis-based Kuhlmann Design Group. The DESCO Group, the owner and developer of Waterloo Commons, also has selected Holland to construct a 63,000-square-foot grocery store in Evansville, Ind.

SOUTH LYON, MICH. — Marcus & Millichap has brokered the sale of Huntington Square Shopping Center, a 57,056-square-foot retail property located at 546-644 N. Lafayette Rd. in South Lyon, for $5 million, representing a 9.28 percent cap rate. Bill O’Connor and DeVon Jackson of Marcus & Millichap’s Detroit office represented the undisclosed seller. The property was acquired by undisclosed local investors.
