GRAND RAPIDS AND SOUTHFIELD, MICH. — East Lansing, Mich.-based Martin Property Development has completed two projects for the Great Lakes division of the American Cancer Society (ACS). In Grand Rapids, construction was recently completed for an ACS Hope Lodge, located at 129 Jefferson Ave. The Peter M. Wege Guest House is a 4-story, 40,000-square-foot facility that provides cancer patients and their caregivers with free temporary housing while undergoing treatment. The LEED-certified facility also houses an ACS area service center. Martin acted as owner representative, with CB Richard Ellis/Grand Rapids providing facilities management services. In Southfield, Martin represented the ACS in the completion of a new Detroit metro regional business center, located at 20450 Civic Center Dr. Construction of the two-story, 30,000-square-foot building began in March 2007 and was completed in December.

CAROL STREAM, ILL. — The Rosemont, Ill., office of Cushman & Wakefield has represented TA Associates in a 347,440-square-foot lease renewal and expansion at 230-260 Lies Rd. in Carol Stream. The lessee, Lagasse, will expand its current 150,796-square-foot lease to occupy the entire warehouse/distribution building. Britt Casey and Mike Hawryluk of Cushman & Wakefield represented building ownership in the transaction; Lagasse was represented by Claire Paulson and Dominic Carbonari of Grubb & Ellis.

ANN ARBOR, MICH. — L. Mason Capitani (LMC) has brokered the sale of a 32,368-square-foot industrial facility located at 161 Enterprise Dr. in Ann Arbor. The buyer, Electro ARC Manufacturing Co., plans to use the building as its North American headquarters. Thomas Jablonski of LMC represented the undisclosed seller in the transaction. The acquisition price was not disclosed, but the listing price was $1.2 million.

GRANDVIEW HEIGHTS, OHIO — Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide Realty Investors (NRI) has released the conceptual plans for Grandview Yard, a $500 million mixed-use development located in the Columbus suburb of Grandview Heights, near the campus of Ohio State University. Encompassing 80 acres, the project will feature 1.5 to 2 million square feet of commercial space, comprising a significant specialty and anchor retail component, restaurants, and offices; as well as more than 600 residential units and three new community parks. Construction is set to begin in early 2009. The project is owned and developed by a joint venture involving NRI, with leasing, management and construction services being provided by Columbus-based Equity.

COLUMBUS, OHIO — Construction is advancing for the new $105 million Franklin County Courthouse, located at 345 S. High St. in Columbus. The seven-story, 325,000-square-foot project will feature 20 general use courtrooms, 10 civil courtrooms, one arraignment courtroom and one special proceedings courtroom. The project will also be working toward green building certification. Groundbreaking occurred last July, with completion scheduled for 2010. Arquitectonica is serving as the design architect, with DesignGroup acting as the architect of record and Ricci-Greene serving as the courts architect. Construction management services are being provided by Gilbane.

WEST CHICAGO, ILL. — Hendricks & Partners (H&P) has arranged the sale of Aspen Ridge, a 253-unit apartment community located at 1440 S. Neltnor Blvd. in West Chicago. The property is situated on approximately 11.5 acres, and comprises 10 two- and three-story buildings. Ralph DePasquale and Bill Montana of H&P’s Chicago office represented the seller, Omaha, Neb.-based Marina Partners. The property was acquired by a private LaGrange, Ill.-based investor for an undisclosed amount.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MICH. — Plymouth, Mich.-based DeMattia Group ha completed construction of the city of Rochester Hills’ Department of Public Services building. The 99,000-square-foot structure is situated on a 19-acre site that also houses the fleet maintenance, traffic, roads, water and sewer departments. The new building features administrative offices, vehicle storage, a high bay area for vehicle servicing and maintenance, and a vehicle wash area. This marks the second project DeMattia has completed for the city of Rochester Hills.

CHICAGO — Coldwell Banker Commercial NRT has brokered the sale of a 24,396-square-foot industrial property, located at 2600 W. Addison St. in Chicago, for $3.57 million. Bruce Heller and Tifanie Riley of Coldwell Banker represented the seller; Al Johnson of Menard Johnson represented the buyer, which plans to redevelop the property for multi-tenant use. Both parties were undisclosed.

FRANKLIN, WIS. — Ryan Cos. has announced plans to develop a 28-acre mixed-use campus located adjacent to Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in Franklin. The project, called Franklin Medical Center, will comprise 180,000 square feet of Class A medical/specialty office space, 50,000 square feet of retail space, 6 acres of outlot parcels for build-to-suit development and approximately 1,200 parking spaces. Inland Cos. will serve as the exclusive leasing agent for the project. Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare is a 275,000-square-foot outpatient care facility that is scheduled for completion this spring.
