Braves, Fuqua Reveal Eight New Concepts Coming to The Battery Atlanta Near SunTrust Park

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves and development partner Fuqua Development have revealed eight new retail, dining and entertainment concepts coming to The Battery Atlanta, a 1.5 million-square-foot mixed-use development surrounding SunTrust Park. The concepts are set to open by Opening Day 2017, when the Atlanta Braves will first take the field at their new 41,500-seat ballpark, which is situated in Cobb County near the intersection of I-75 and I-285. The new concepts include Wahlburgers, a chef-driven burger concept from Mark, Donnie and Paul Wahlberg; Kings Bowl, a retro bowling and entertainment destination; Live!, a dining and entertainment destination developed by The Cordish Cos. and and designed by Jeffrey Beers International; Goldbergs Bagel Co. & Deli, an Atlanta-based bagel and sandwich shop; Mountain High Outfitters, an outdoor specialty store; Sugarboo Designs, a household items and gifts retailer; DressUp, a women’s fashion boutique retailer; and a retail-only Harley-Davidson store. Cordish operates Live! venues at major ballparks across the country, including Xfinity Live! at the Philadelphia Flyers’ Philadelphia Stadium Complex and Ballpark Village with the St. Louis Cardinals. At The Battery Atlanta, Cordish will develop a two-level venue that will feature a 40-foot diagonal, high-definition LED screen as a back-drop for social games …

Springhouse Partners Receives $37M Acquisition, Renovation Financing for NYC Mixed-Use Property

NEW YORK CITY — Springhouse Partners has received $37 million in acquisition and renovation financing for the purchase and renovation of a mixed-use property located at 51-55 Irving Place between New York City’s Gramercy and Union Square neighborhoods. Ronnie Levine and Jeff Berkes of Meridian Capital Group negotiated the three-year loan, provided by Mesa West Capital, for the buyer. The loan features full-term interest-only payments and two one-year extension options. The seven-story property totals 56 residential units, five retail spaces and one office space, as well as unused air rights. Springhouse Partners is an investment firm founded by Adam Verner in 2010.

Jackson-Shaw Breaks Ground on The Oasis at Cascades at The Colony

THE COLONY, TEXAS — Jackson-Shaw has begun construction on a four-restaurant dining and entertainment experience known as The Oasis. The project is located in Cascades at The Colony. The Oasis is the newest addition to the master-planned community located in the retail and corporate headquarters corridor in north Texas. Thomas Glendenning and Chrystal Morgan with Shop Cos. are in charge of leasing the space. Jackson-Shaw developed the 100-acre, mixed-use campus of Cascades at The Colony to establish a commercial development along the north side of Sam Rayburn Tollway.

Trademark Signs Two New Tenants at WestBend, Purchases 3.5 Acres Adjacent to Project

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Trademark Property Co. has signed two new tenants at WestBend, a 278,000-square-foot mixed-use development in Fort Worth’s University District. The two tenants, Ascension and Dear Hannah, will open this fall. Trademark has also closed on the acquisition of a 3.5-acre tract contiguous to WestBend. The acquired parcel is located on University Drive immediately south of WestBend, along the Trinity River. Conceptual planning is underway to develop additional mixed-use space featuring added ground floor retail, a hotel and multifamily units. A Hawthorn Suites occupies the site. Ascension, a Dallas Design District coffee and wine bar, will open a 2,420-square-foot store overlooking the Trinity River and Trinity Trails. Women’s clothing and accessories boutique Dear Hannah will open its third location in a 1,354-square-foot space. WestBend will be the first Fort Worth location for both tenants.

Bernard Financial Secures $15.5M Loan for Detroit’s Broderick Tower

DETROIT — Bernard Financial Group has arranged a $15.5 million refinancing loan for Broderick Tower, a 34-story mixed-use building in Detroit. The high-rise, located at the southeastern corner of Woodward Avenue and Grand Circus Park, features office space on floors 2-4, apartment units on floors 5-34, with floors 25-34 consisting of penthouses. Motown Construction Partners LLC is the borrower. Dennis Bernard and Kevin Kovachevich of Bernard Financial arranged the financing through Fifth Third Bank.

Armada Hoffler to Develop $32M Mixed-Use Project in Town Center of Virginia Beach

VIRGINA BEACH, VA. — Armada Hoffler Properties Inc. plans to develop a $32 million mixed-use project within the 17-block Town Center of Virginia Beach. The project is part of an ongoing public-private partnership with Armada Hoffler and the city of Virginia Beach. The development will include 33,000 square feet of street-level retail space, 5,000 square feet of restaurant space and 120 luxury apartment homes. In addition, Zeiders American Dream Theater will invest roughly $8 million in a 17,000-square-foot performing arts theater, and the city of Virginia Beach will invest roughly $3 million in public infrastructure including an open-air public plaza on the second level and a pedestrian bridge connecting the development to an adjacent parking garage. Armada Hoffler Construction Co., a division of Armada Hoffler Properties, will serve as general contractor of the project. Armada Hoffler expects to break ground in the second half of the year.

City of Lebanon Approves Extension of Legends Drive Near Cumberland Center

LEBANON, TENN. — The city of Lebanon has approved the extension of Legends Drive near Cumberland Center, a 165-acre mixed-use project situated along I-40 East. Upon completion, Cumberland Center will feature retail shops, Class A offices, restaurants, hotels and possibly apartments. Phase I of Cumberland Center includes a Logan’s Steakhouse and a Boot Barn. The extension of Legends Drive is estimated to last roughly 18 months and cost about $4.6 million. Legends Drive will be extended about three-fourths of a mile and will connect Highway 231 and Highway 70. The road will also connect to Briskin Lane, which is scheduled for improvements.

PORTAGE, IND. — Holladay Properties has scheduled an August groundbreaking for The Promenade at Founders Square, a $37 million mixed-use development in Portage, approximately 10 miles east of Gary. The initial five buildings will surround Founders Square Park and offer residential space with ground-floor commercial properties. Other recent investments in The City of Portage include the new Founders Square Park, fire station, police station and an outdoor entertainment pavilion.

Southside Bank to Finance Infrastructure at Frisco Station

FRISCO, TEXAS — Southside Bank will finance new development at Frisco Station, a 242-acre mixed-use development located along the Dallas North Tollway in Frisco. The bank will provide the Frisco Station Partnership, an investment entity composed of Hillwood, Rudman Partnership and Van Trust Real Estate, with a three-year revolving line of credit for constructing road, water, sewer and other utilities. Initial construction will begin in June and will include infrastructure to support office development along Warren Parkway. Frisco Station includes more than 5 million square feet of office space, 2,400 apartment units, food and beverage concepts, hotel and conference facilities and more than 250,000 square feet of retail space. Headquartered in Tyler, Texas, Southside Bank has $5.2 billion in assets and operates more than 60 banking facilities in Texas.

Tavistock Selects Steiner + Associates as Partner for 100-Acre Lake Nona Town Center in Orlando

ORLANDO, FLA. — Tavistock Development Co. has named Columbus, Ohio-based Steiner + Associates as its retail planning, leasing and development partner for Lake Nona Town Center in Orlando. Phase I of the project opened in January, including an 85,000-square-foot office building, a Marriott Residence Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, 16,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and a five-story parking structure. Upon completion, the 100-acre project will anchor the 11-square-mile, master-planned Lake Nona community, which has had more than $3 billion in construction in the last eight years spanning 7.1 million square feet of residential and commercial properties. Located adjacent to Orlando International Airport, Lake Nona features neighborhoods, schools, the Lake Nona Medical City and United States Tennis Association’s New Home of American Tennis facility, the largest of its kind in the world. Initial phases of Lake Nona Town Center will comprise more than 1 million square feet of retail, restaurant, entertainment, office and hotel space.
