HARFORD COUNTY, MD. — St. John Properties has broken ground on more than 135,000 square feet of office and flex space as part of the Government and Technology Enterprise (GATE) project at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Harford County. The one-story office building and two flex buildings will be built to silver LEED standards and will represent the completion of the GATE project's first phase. Delivery is expected this summer, and the second phase of construction will begin in May.

COLUMBIA, MO. — Analytical Bio-Chemistry Laboratories has selected St. Louis-based ARCO Construction Co. for a $4.2 million laboratory renovation and expansion for its chemical division at its original campus in Columbia. The renovations include upgrading exterior finishes, redesigning and modernizing 27,000 square feet of laboratory and office space, and constructing a 10,000-square-foot addition, which includes a 2,000-square-foot walk-in freezer and a 5,000-square-foot sample prep area. Additionally, the project is designed to be more energy efficient. Completion is scheduled for June.
LOS ANGELES — E! Entertainment Television has signed a substantial lease renewal for 355,304 square feet of office space at the Wilshire Courtyard located at 5700 and 5750 Wilshire Blvd. in the Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles. Madison Partners’ Brad Feld represented the landlord, RREEF, and Mark Sullivan and David Gordon of Studley represented the tenant in the transaction, a 10-year renewal set to begin in January 2012. E! Entertainment Television currently occupies 70 percent of the Wilshire Courtyard’s 5750 Blvd. building.
MARISSA, ILL. — Swansea, Ill.-based Holland Construction Services has been selected to serve as general contractor for the construction of a new corporate headquarters office building for Prairie State Generating Co. Located in Marissa within Washington County, the new 20,600-square-foot facility is situated on the existing Prairie State Energy Campus. The project will be a pre-engineered metal building with stone and brick veneer and topped with a standing seam metal roof. The facility will feature a walkout basement and shower, locker and workout space on the lower level. Construction is expected to start in May, with completion scheduled for December.
DALLAS — GT Dallas Properties has leased 22,180 square feet of office space to HQ Global Workplaces in Dallas. The property is located at 13455 Noel Road. Steve Rigby, Peter Danna, Baron Aldrine and Mike Kay of CB Richard Ellis represented the tenant in the lease.
HOUSTON — WEUS Holdings has signed a 26,407-square-foot lease renewal with Tower Associates for space in Marathon Oil Tower. The 41-story, 1.07 million-square-foot property is located at 5555 San Felipe in Houston. CB Richard Ellis' Craig Beyer, Mary Barnwell and Brandon Clarke represented the tenant. The firm's John Pruitt and Jessica Ochoa represented the landlord.
KANSAS CITY, MO. — The General Services Administration (GSA) has signed a long-term lease renewal for 204,607 square feet of office space in downtown Kansas City. The Federal Aviation Administration occupies the majority of the building, which is located at 901 Locust St. The property, which is undergoing major upgrades, has been occupied by Department of Transportation agencies for 10 years. Brian Bacon of Cassidy Turley Ð Kansas City represented the ownership, Tierra FAA LLC, in the transaction. Terms of the lease were not released.
SANTA ROSA, CALIF. — Cassidy Turley BT Commercial has represented Equity Office Properties in its $6.4 million sale of an approximately 42,500-square-foot Class A office building, located at 3569 Round Barn Circle in Santa Rosa, to owner/user Southwest Community Health Center. The two-story Fountaingrove Executive Center offers easy access to Highway 101. Cassidy Turley’s Jeff Negri, Greg Moss, Tony Lucchesi and Niel von Doepp represented the seller in the transaction.
RICHMOND, VA. — MeadWestvaco has obtained $68.4 million in financing for its 311,000-square-foot build-to-suit headquarters. The property is located at Foundry Park in Richmond. The 5-year, fixed-rate loan carries a 15-year amortization. Geoff McVeigh of Berkadia Commercial Mortgage's Richmond office arranged the loan, which was funded by Deutsche PostBank AG through PB Capital Corp.
BOSTON — Jones Lang LaSalle has been selected to provide construction management services for a $7 million interior build-out at Boston University's Conti Biomedical Research Center on the school's Medical Campus. Construction will consist of the renovation of approximately 45,000 square feet encompassing the first, second, sixth and seventh floors. The space will include new infrastructure, mechanical upgrades, new laboratory systems, conference and training areas, new lab case work and office areas. The occupants of the space, which will be complete by October, will include the Biochemistry Department's Breast Cancer Research Center, Amyloid Research Center and Cancer Center. ADD Inc. is the project architect.
