VERO BEACH, FLA. — The School District of Indian River County has completed the development of its 167,500-square-foot Storm Grove Middle School in Vero Beach. The $34.3 million property is located at 6400 57th St. Each grade is separated into an individual building on the campus, which SchenkelShultz Architecture designed to achieve the LEED Gold guidelines for schools. The campus features a cafeteria, administration offices, a 9,000-square-foot cafeteria/multipurpose room and nine science labs.

CHICAGO — The Adler School of Professional Psychology has signed a 15-year lease for 100,796 square feet of office space at One North Dearborn Street in Chicago. The leased space includes the entire 15th and 16th floors as well as 2,500 square feet of ground-level space. The school plans to begin occupying the space on January 1, 2011. OWP/P Cannon Design is providing architectural services for the tenant build-out project, while Leopardo Cos. is serving as the general contractor. Phil Utigard and Scott Becker of Transwestern represented the Adler school; Kevin Purcell and Gary Denenberg of MB Real Estate represented the building ownership in the transaction.

WOLFEBORO, N.H. — Concord, N.H.-based North Branch Construction has been selected to complete a $16 million construction project at Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro. The project will include the construction of a 51,000-square-foot multi-purpose building that will include a 900-seat auditorium, classrooms and locker rooms. New synthetic and natural turf athletic fields will also be installed. Finally, a Geothermal Ground Heat Exchanger piping system will be installed throughout the entire campus. Completion is slated for December 2010. Manchester, N.H.-based CMK Architects is designing the project.

LOS ANGELES — In conjunction with Irvine, Calif.-based LPA Inc., McCarthy Building Companies Inc. will design-build a $79.9 million athletic complex at West Los Angeles College. Located on 20.5 acres, the athletic complex will include a main gymnasium facility; a fitness, recreation and aquatic center; a baseball park; and fields for soccer, baseball and softball. Part of the Los Angeles Community College District’s Sustainable Building Program, which is funded through Proposition A/AA and Measure J, the complex construction will strive for LEED Platinum certification.

HUDSON, OHIO — The city of Hudson has acquired 427.9 acres of land on East Hines Road in Hudson for $6.9 million. The property, which is the former Youth Development Center, includes 25 acres of wetlands as well as several dormitory and school buildings. The city plans to preserve the property for public use in the community. Clifford West and Peter Farina of Colliers Ostendorf-Morris represented the seller, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, in the transaction.

NETT LAKE, MINN. — Travois New Markets assisted the Bois Forte Community Redevelopment Corp. to secure New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) funding for its new energy-efficient community and government services facility. Currently under construction in Nett Lake, the 48,852-square-foot facility will house community-meeting space, Bois Forte Tribal Government offices and a financial center such as a credit union or a bank. Wells Fargo placed a $3.7 million NMTC investment in the project along with an additional $9.1 million in construction financing. The loans will be used to construct and manage the property. Completion is slated for August 2010.

CAPE CORAL, FLA. — Fort Myers, Fla.-based J.L. Wallace has finished the construction of two 5,600-square-foot buildings for St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Cape Coral. The buildings house a chapel, classrooms and offices. The space was designed by Jason P. Tramonte Architect, and Liebl & Barrow and Harrop Engineering Co. provided engineering services.

LANCASTER, CALIF. – Barnhart-Heery has completed the $22.2 million William J. “Pete” Knight Veterans Home of California in the city of Lancaster. The single-story, 46,620-square-foot complex consists of two residential wings with a total of 60 beds for full-time residents, a 50-person Adult Day Health Care wing, and a services and administration wing. The four wings all surround a central courtyard. Located on a 30-acre site, the home will provide California’s disabled and aging veterans with rehabilitative, residential and medical care services.

WALTHAM, MASS. — Colliers Meredith & Grew has completed the sale of the former Bartlett School campus located on Trapelo Road in Waltham. The 5.8-acre property contains two buildings: a single-story, 50,156-square-foot brick school building and a 7,830-square-foot gymnasium. Colliers' James Elcock and Katharine Barry represented the seller, Bartlett School, as well as the buyer, Carroll School. The buyer, a primary school for children with learning disabilities, plans to use the property as an expansion of its main campus in Lincoln, Mass.
