GRANDVIEW, MO. — The City of Grandview has opened its newly renovated city hall and police department. The $5.3 million renovation project was completed over the course of 10 months and marked the largest renovation from Building Up Grandview, a $21 million bond package passed in April 2022. Hoefer Welker served as the project architect, and JE Dunn was the construction manager at risk. City hall improvements included relocating the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to 1102 Main St. and adding offices, conference rooms, modern board chambers, updated technology and improved ADA compliance access. The police department now offers officers and detectives new locker rooms and workspaces as well as an employee kitchen and lounge. All renovation projects included in the Building Up Grandview bond package are now complete, including the Grandview DMV, which opened in February 2024, and two fire stations, which were completed in the fall.

BARTOW COUNTY, GA. — Hines and Aubrey Corp. plan to co-develop a new 10 million-square-foot mixed-use community in Bartow County, a northwest suburban node of Atlanta. The master-planned project, called Aubrey Village, will sit on 2,390 acres at the I-75 interchange with U.S. Route 411, which is located near multibillion-dollar plants underway for Hyundai-SK Battery and QCells. Once complete, the development will include new manufacturing, data center and logistics facilities, as well as a supermarket, shops, restaurants, hotels and a variety of residential properties that will accommodate 2,800 families. The industrial-zoned land spans 1,200 acres and will accommodate two industrial parks. Aubrey Village will also feature a network of trails, parks and walkways and a Bartow County public school. The project is projected to be completed over the next 10 to 12 years in several phases, with Hines expecting to break ground on the initial infrastructure later this year or in 2026. Jim Ramseur and Samantha Wheeler with Lee & Associates represented Aubrey Corp. in venture formation, and Ramseur Real Estate Advisors will act as the managing consultant for the co-developers’ commercial and residential parcels moving forward.

NEW YORK CITY — The Kwenda Collegiate Girls Charter School has signed a 44,114-square-foot lease in Brooklyn. The turnkey space is located within the building at 2520 Church Ave. in the Flatbush area and was formerly occupied by St. Gregory The Great Catholic Academy. The school will first serve kindergarten and first grade students, with plans to expand through fifth grade and ultimately through eighth grade. Lindsay Ornstein, Jake Cinti and Kate Whitman of OPEN Impact Real Estate represented the school in the lease negotiations. William O’Brien of M.C. O’Brien Inc. represented the unnamed landlord.

ROSEMOUNT, MINN. — Kraus-Anderson has completed construction of a $58 million police and public works facility for the City of Rosemount in Minnesota. The 20-acre project is located at 14041 Biscayne Ave. Designed by BKV Group and Oertel Architects, the 172,200-square-foot development features three buildings, including a 160,101-square-foot police department and public works facility, a 7,400-square-foot cold storage building and a 4,800-square-foot salt storage building. The 48,718-square-foot police department features a squad garage for 35 vehicles, an office with a storm shelter, holding rooms and a six-lane gun range. The 111,383-square-foot public works facility includes a vehicle storage bay for 17 plow trucks and 57 vehicles, an office, wash bay and maintenance areas. Construction began in June 2023.

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. — Colliers has arranged the sale of the former Cambridge Matignon School campus in metro Boston. The 7.8-acre campus totals 83,136 square feet across two buildings that were originally constructed in 1945. The campus also houses playing fields, science labs, an auditorium and a gymnasium. James Elcock and John Real of Colliers represented the seller, the Archdiocese of Boston, in the transaction. The buyer was Benjamin Banneker Charter Public School. Cambridge Matignon School closed in 2023.

PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS — General contractors Swinerton and Byrne Construction Services have broken ground on a mixed-use project in downtown Pflugerville, a northern suburb of Austin. Known as Pflugerville Downtown East, the development will feature a four-story, 104,000-square-foot city hall building that will house various public service departments, as well as a three-story, 140,000-square-foot recreation center that will also have 10,500 square feet of retail space. The project will also include an outdoor civic plaza. Completion is slated for fall 2026.

ST. LUCIE, FLA. — St. Lucie Public Schools has selected Spiezle Architectural Group Inc. to provide design services for the school district’s 217,500-square-foot Western Grove K-8 prototype campus. General contractor Wharton-Smith plans to begin construction on the project in February and wrap up by August 2026. The six-building campus will include two-story academic buildings, a two-story administration building, gymnasium, chiller plant with thermal storage and a 33,569-square-foot auditorium/cafeteria that will feature dining facilities, a kitchen, custodial area, stage, band classroom, vocal classroom and an art classroom. Outdoor offerings will include playgrounds, multipurpose field, hard court and dropoff/pickup area. The Western Grove K-8 prototype campus is designed to accommodate nearly 2,000 students.

LADUE, MO. — ICS Construction Services Ltd. has completed the Clark Family Branch Library for the St. Louis County Library (SLCL) district. Lamar Johnson Collaborative (LJC) was the project architect. Located at 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd. in the inner-ring suburb of Ladue, the two-story building totals more than 78,000 square feet and stands as the largest branch in the SLCL system. The design emphasizes open, flexible spaces with high ceilings and natural light. The Clark Family Branch is the final branch to be designed as part of SLCL’s system-wide “Your Library Renewed” program. In addition to providing traditional reading, private study spaces and quick access to collections, the library features various meeting and event spaces, age-specific areas for creative and hands-on learning experiences and diverse community-based services. The Stephany and Richard Kniep Children’s Space features a playhouse, built-in reading nooks, a magnetic gear wall and educational touch-screen games. The Unity Foundation Teen Space provides tech-focused amenities such as the Object Computing creative lab with a 3-D printer, audio recording studio, video recording studio and video game room. VIRGINIA, MINN. — Kraus-Anderson has begun construction of a new $33 million public safety facility located at 1004 2nd St. S. in Virginia, a city in northeast Minnesota. Designed by Wold Architects and Engineers, the 50,000-square-foot project features a new fire station, police station and EMS facility, along with 13 dormitories, training spaces and parking lots. The new building also features a training tower, fitness center, day room, kitchen and dining room. Completion is slated for July 2025.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio International Airport (SAT) has broken ground on a new $1.2 billion terminal. The project will feature up to 17 gates, more than 800,000 square feet of new terminal space, 35,700 square feet of concessions and 29,000 square feet of club lounges. SAT says the groundbreaking represents a significant step in its commitment to meeting the increasing demands of global air travel. Featuring a modern, accessible design, enhanced passenger amenities and the latest technology, the terminal “will expand SAT’s capacity and deliver an elevated travel experience for millions.” The construction of the new terminal is part of the airport’s Terminal Development Program (TDP), which will guide future development of the airfield, terminal facilities, ground access and support infrastructure over the next 20 years. TDP is the cornerstone of Elevate/SAT, a $2.5 billion expansion and capital improvements plan to enhance SAT, the customer experience and the San Antonio region. Elevate/SAT is the largest capital improvement plan that the City of San Antonio has undertaken, according to a release.
