ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills have reached an agreement with New York State and Erie County for a new $1.4 billion football stadium in Orchard Park, a southeast suburb of Buffalo that is also home to the team’s current arena, Highmark Stadium. According to New York State, the new stadium represents the largest construction project in the history of Western New York. The National Football League (NFL) and the Bills have committed to providing a combined $550 million for the project, while New York Gov. Kathy Hochul plans to advance a $600 million proposal to the state budget. Erie County will contribute $250 million. NFL owners on Monday approved the deal, which keeps the team in Buffalo for another 30 years. “While there are a few more yards to go before we cross the goal line, we feel our public-private partnership between New York State, Erie County led by county executive Mark Poloncarz and the NFL will get us there,” say Terry and Kim Pegula, owners of the Buffalo Bills. EVELETH, MINN. — Kraus-Anderson has completed Laurentian Elementary, a $34 million elementary school located at 1409 Progress Parkway in Eveleth, a city in Northeast Minnesota. The school is part of Rock Ridge Public Schools. Designed by Cuningham Group Architecture, the 89,000-square-foot property serves students in pre-K through sixth grade. Specific features of the project include an indoor playground, gymnasium, athletic field and outdoor learning courtyard. The school will open to students this fall.

NEW YORK CITY — Marcus & Millichap has brokered the $9.6 million sale of a 28,000-square-foot civic building located at 555 Remsen Ave. in the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn. Jakub Nowak and Thomas Brennan represented the undisclosed seller in the transaction. Yossi Hackner of Sapphire Realty represented the buyer, a religious institution that also requested anonymity.

BELMONT, MASS. — International developer Skanska has topped out Belmont Middle School, a 170,000-square-foot civic project on the western outskirts of Boston. In addition to dedicated classroom, recreation and administrative space, the middle school building will share the major facilities of the high school, including the kitchen and café, auditorium, pool and field house. Construction of the middle school marks Phase II of a larger project following the delivery of the 451,000-square-foot high school building. With that project, which was completed last September, Skanska renovated and expanded the building to include new academic and science wings, media and dining areas, administrative health suites and updates to the existing gymnasium and pool. Completion of the middle school building is scheduled for September 2023.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — The Texas Christian University (TCU) School of Medicine will open a 100,000-square-foot building within Fort Worth’s Near Southside District. Designed by CO Architects and Hoefer Welker, the project represents the first phase of development of a new campus that will serve as an academic hub for some 240 medical students, as well as faculty and staff. TCU launched its medical school program in 2019 with an initial enrollment of 60 students. Construction of the four-story building is set to begin later this year and to be complete in advance of the fall 2024 semester

NEW YORK CITY — Bold Charter School will open a 10,000-square-foot learning center at 1093 Southern Blvd. in The Bronx. The school, which will open in time for the 2022-2023 academic year, will have eight classrooms and will be able to support about 240 students in grades K-4. Stephen Powers and Lindsay Ornstein of OPEN Impact Real Estate, along with Tom Hines and Casey Noel of Transwestern, represented Bold Charter School in its site selection and lease negotiations. David Israeli and Joseph Israeli represented the landlord, Meyerson Management LLC, on an internal basis.

MELISSA, TEXAS — Construction services firm Harrison, Walker & Harper LLC (HWH) and architecture and engineering firm Parkhill have completed a 134,200-square-foot athletic facility for the Melissa Independent School in Collin County. The center houses an indoor practice facility that can accommodate multiple practices simultaneously. Other features include locker rooms, a weight room, treatment area, training rooms, theater classrooms for lectures and film review, an indoor turf field and an eight-lane competition track and football/soccer field. The project carried a price tag of $21.3 million.

Gillette-Stadium-Foxborough-Massachusetts

FOXBOROUGH, MASS. — The Kraft Group has selected Boston-based general contractor Suffolk as its construction partner for the redevelopment of Gillette Stadium, the home of the NFL’s New England Patriots and MLS’ New England Revolution. The stadium was built in 2002 and is located south of Boston in Foxborough, Mass. The redevelopment will feature a redesigned plaza leading into the stadium, including an enhanced lighthouse. In addition, the north end of the stadium will be renovated with 75,000 square feet of hospitality and event spaces that bridge the gap between the East and West Putnam Clubs, the Dell Technologies Suite Levels and the upper concourse. The development team expects to complete the project in advance of the 2023 NFL season.

NEW YORK CITY — Seton Education Partners, a nonprofit owner-operator of charter schools, has entered into a leasehold condominium agreement with Bolivar Development to open a 73,000-square-foot school at 1936 Jerome Ave. in The Bronx. The structure of the deal allows Seton to own the condo unit that will house the school for 39 years before ownership reverts to the developer. The school will be operated under the Brilla Public Charter School brand and will ultimately serve more than 800 students in grades K-8. Stephen Powers and Lindsay Ornstein of OPEN Impact Real Estate, along with Jake Cinti and Alexander Smith of Transwestern, represented Seton in the deal. Jim Lester and Peter Fine represented Bolivar Development on an internal basis. The new building is expected to open for the 2024-2025 academic year, initially serving students in grades K-4 and expanding through eighth grade by 2028.

NEW YORK CITY — Touro College & University System, a nonprofit higher and professional learning institution, has signed a lease to open a 243,305-square-foot campus within 3 Times Square in Manhattan. Touro will occupy the third through ninth floors and part of the ground and second floors at the 30-story building, which originally opened in 2001 as the North American headquarters of Reuters. Today, The Rudin Family owns the building and is currently in the midst of renovating it. The lease term is 32 years. Designed by Michielli + Wyetzner Architects, the campus will include classrooms, labs, a library, event spaces, student lounges and cafés. Touro plans to move into the building in January 2023. Richard Bernstein, Steve Braun, Troy Elias and Jared Thal of Cushman & Wakefield, along with internal representative Jeffrey Rosengarten, represented Touro College in the lease negotiations.
