AVE MARIE, FLA. — Fort Myers, Fla.-based J.L. Wallace, serving as general contractor, has completed the construction of the Tom Golisano Field House on the campus of Ave Marie University in Ave Marie. The 38,107-square-foot project include a NCAA-regulation basketball court, a training room, a weight room, men's and women's locker rooms, referee dressing rooms, a ticket office, concession area, administrative offices and a conference room. Jason P. Tramonte Architect Inc. provided design services, Wilson Miller Inc. served as civil engineer, Liebl & Barrow served as structural engineer, Kevatron Engineering served as mechanical engineer and Jewitt Engineering served as electrical engineer for the project.

INDIANAPOLIS — Brown – Davis Joint Venture LLC is developing Chase Near Eastside Legacy Center, which is a component of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee's community impact activities. Located on the campus of the Arsenal Technical High School, the $11.2 million, 27,000-square-foot Chase Neat Eastside Education and Wellness Center/NFL Youth Education Town will feature a fitness center with a full gymnasium and locker rooms, offices, conference rooms, classrooms, an educational kitchen, a media center, a lounge, a greenhouse and a mezzanine level with cardio equipment and an exercise studio. Additionally, the facility will offer comprehensive programs and youth development activities for neighborhood residents. Ratio Architects is providing architectural services for the project, which is slated for completion in December 2011. The joint venture, consisting of Browning Construction and Davis & Associates, is serving as construction manager for the project.

HUNTSVILLE, ALA. — A Philadelphia-based investor has purchased Virginia College, a 51,171-square-foot facility in downtown Huntsville, for $9.87 million. Situated on 5.43 acres, the former Kroger building was redeveloped in 2010. Virginia College is on a 15-year, absolute NNN lease with 1 percent rent bumps annually. Greenville, S.C.-based RealtyLink developed and sold the property.

CAPE CORAL, FLA. — Fort Myers, Fla.-based Stevens Construction has commenced the renovations at Cape Coral First United Methodist Church. Located at 4118 Coronado Parkway in Cape Coral, the project includes renovation and a 6,920-square-foot expansion. Upon completion in spring 2011, the two-story, 13,377-square-foot building will feature an enhanced children's and youth ministry facility, including a preschool, a multipurpose room, classrooms, a kitchen and associated services. Christopher Lee Architects Inc. is providing architectural services for the project.

PITTSBURG, ILL. — Johnston City Community Unit School District #1 has selected Swansea, Ill.-based Holland Construction Services to construct a $1.5 million addition and renovation project at Lincoln Elementary School in Pittsburg. The project includes a 5,333-square-foot expansion, including three classrooms, a media center/library and computer lab, and additional restroom facilities. Renovations include electrical upgrades, a new walk-out freezer with a canopy, office remodeling and upgrading the exterior drive-up bus lane. Construction is slated for completion in summer 2011. O'Fallon, Ill.-based FGM Architects is providing architectural services for the project.

NORTH LAS VEGAS — CORE Construction-Nevada has completed the 88,359-square-foot Ruby Duncan Elementary School, located at 250 W. Rome Street in North Las Vegas, at a cost of nearly $17.9 million. Designed by SH Architecture, the school comprises three single-story buildings — administrative, multipurpose and kindergarten — and a two-story academic building. The structures enclose a secure courtyard for outdoor learning. The Clark County School District contracted with CORE for Duncan Elementary’s construction, which began in mid-July 2009.

NORTH CHARLESTON, N.C. — A 77,225-square-foot World Overcomers Ministries has opened at Festival Centre Shopping Center in North Charleston. The property is located at the corner of Ashley Phosphate Road and Dorchester Road. Ron Buckley provided in-house representation for the center's owner, Centro Properties Group, in the transaction. Terms of the transaction were not released.

COCOA, FLA. — Fort Myers, Fla.-based J.L. Wallace has completed the construction of the Water Field Operations Center Warehouse in Cocoa. The 53,549-square-foot facility features 46,288 square feet of warehouse and shop space and 7,261 square feet of second-floor office space. Additional features include aluminum canopies, food service equipment, a crane system, a loading dock area, audio-visual capabilities, CATV and security systems. Architects in Association Rood and Zwick provided architectural services, TLC provided structural, mechanical and electrical services, and Quentin L. Hampton Associates served as civil engineer for the project.

CARBONDALE, ILL. — Holland Construction and J.E. Dunn Construction have completed the construction of a new basketball arena and athletic building on the campus of Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) in Carbondale. The existing facility received a 10,000-square-foot addition, resulting in a 50,000-square-foot building, and upgrades throughout, including a new lobby and entryway, new restrooms, a new VIP club room, new HVAC systems, a new state-of-the-art scoreboard with individual statistics and video replay, and new seating. Additionally the concession stands were expanded and renovated, and the floors were refinished. The athletic building houses basketball and football offices, locker rooms, meeting areas, a team store and ticketing offices. Kansas City, Mo.-based 360 Architecture designed the arena and the athletic building.

REAGAN COUNTY – The University of Texas System’s Board of Regents has agreed to a 10-year, $30 million land lease with Spinning Star Energy for a West Texas wind farm. One hundred and fifty wind turbines will be constructed across 18,000 acres of UT System land in Reagan County. The university system will cut its energy consumption by 16 percent and proceeds from the agreement will go to the Available University Fund for the UT System as well as the Texas A&M University System.
