AVE MARIA, FLA. — Fort Myers, Fla.-based J.L. Wallace is planning a groundbreaking for the 38,107-square-foot Tom Golisano Field House on the campus of Ave Maria University in Ave Maria. The property will include an NCAA-regulation basketball court, training and weight rooms, dressing rooms, offices, and a conference room. Jason P. Tramonte Architect designed the project.

MINOT, N.D., AND ARDEN HILLS AND MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. — Graham Construction Services has been awarded three construction contracts totaling $33.5 million. The first project will consist of a two-building, three-story dormitory for Minot Air Force Base in Minot. The $18.8 million project will provide housing for 168 people. Groundbreaking will occur in April, and completion is expected in August 2011. Spokane, Wash.-based ALSC Architects is the project architect. The second project is a 90,000-square-foot Arden Hills Army Training Readiness Center that is being built in Arden Hills in a joint venture with Holte. The $11.1 million project will break ground in April and will be complete in January 2011. The final project is a $3.6 million Landcare Facility for the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in Minneapolis. Situated at 2613 4th St., the project will include a two-story, 20,000-square-foot building and a 14,000-square-foot, fenced yard. Completion is expected in July 2010. The project architect is Minneapolis-based DLR Group.
BALTIMORE — The Mullan Contracting Co. has completed a $3 million expansion of the Harford County Public Library's Whiteford Branch. The property, located at 2407 Whiteford Road in Baltimore, is now 13,278 square feet, twice its original size. New features include a 1,000-square-foot meeting room, a children's play theater, a storm water management system and a new HVAC system. Bel Air, Md.-based Edmeades & Stromdahl. Ltd. designed the project, which took 1 year to complete.
TUSTIN, CALIF. — Barnhart Inc. has broken ground for the construction of a new $3.7 million aquatic center at Foothill High School in north Tustin. The project includes a new, Olympic-sized, 50-meter pool; a pool deck; exterior showers and drinking fountains; and a one-story mechanical/pool equipment building. Designed by San Diego-based NTD Architecture and funded by the Tustin Unified School District’s $95 million Bond Measure L, the aquatic center is scheduled for completion in time for the start of the 2010-2011 school year.
MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis-based NorthMarq’s Advisory Services Group has completed a lease in Minneapolis. W.I.S.E. Charter School has signed a lease for Franklin School, a 125,794-square-foot facility located at 1501 Aldrich Ave. in Minneapolis. NorthMarq’s Paul Donovan, Kevin Peck and Jaclyn May represented the landlord, Minneapolis Public Schools, in the transaction. Details of the lease were not released.
PALMETTO BAY, FLA. — Master Builders of South Florida has broken ground on the Palmetto Bay Village Hall in Palmetto Bay. Designed by Boca Raton-based JMWA Architects, the property will be built to LEED Gold specifications. The two-story building will include offices for the mayor, the village commissioners, the police department and other village government departments. Completion is slated for November.
OXNARD, CALIF. — A new 38,500-square-foot student services center has opened at Oxnard College. Designed by west Los Angeles-based Nadel Architects, the $18 million structure allowed for the consolidation of a number of administrative and student offices, including the cafeteria, student business office, admission and records, financial aid, career and transfer center, health services, and disabled student services. The new center will help the 118-acre campus expand to serve 11,500 students.
ATLANTA — Turner Construction Co. is set to break ground on the $63 million G. Wayne Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons in Atlanta. The 220,000-square-foot building will be located on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology. The building will include classrooms, science laboratories, lecture halls and computer rooms. Completion is slated for May 2011.
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLA. — Stiles will break ground next month on the 75,000-square-foot Student Educational Center for Nova Southeastern University. The property will be located on Military Trail in Palm Beach Gardens. Stiles purchased the land for $7 million, and NSU will buy the development back when it's completed. The property will feature 26 classrooms, a student lounge, a fitness area and offices. Stiles' project will replace the current NSU facility on RCA Boulevard. City National Bank of Miami financed the development, which will deliver by January 2011.
UNIVERSITY CITY, MO. — McCarthy/KWAME, a joint venture between Kwame Building Group and McCarthy, is currently constructing the $13 million Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School in University City. The two-story, 64,834-square-foot school will feature 24 classrooms, including specialized classrooms and specialty spaces. Bond-Wolfe provided architectural services for the project, which is scheduled for completion in February 2011.
