GILBERT, ARIZ. — LGE Design Build has been selected to design and build a medical-use facility in Gilbert. Located within Higley Gateway Professional Center, the 154,000-square-foot facility will offer 15,000 square feet of retail space. Situated adjacent to the new Banner Gateway Medical Center, the $21 million project is the fourth medical-use project either designed or constructed by LGE this year.

TUSTIN, CALIF. — KAMF Tustin LLC has acquired three medical office buildings in Tustin as part of an investment package brokered by John Bosko and Bob Bush of NAI Capital’s Newport Beach, Calif., office. The transaction was valued at $10 million. Located at 13422 Newport Ave., the first property, the 14,023-square-foot Tustin Medical Arts building, sold for $3 million. Bosko and Bush also represented the seller, Tustin Medical Arts, in the transaction. The second property, offering 20,450 square feet at 13362 and 13372 Newport Ave., was acquired for approximately $4.46 million. Gary Stache and Pat Scruggs of CB Richard Ellis represented the seller, Selcasnan Limited Partnership, in the transaction. Located at 1101 Bryan Ave., the 45,302-square-foot third building sold for $2.57 million. The seller, Bryan Medical LLC, was self-represented in the transaction.

AUGUSTA, GA. — Atlanta-based R.J. Griffin Co. has broken ground on a 57,000-square-foot outpatient cancer clinic across the street from the Medical College of Georgia Cancer Research Center in Augusta. The new building will feature 30 exam rooms, 30 chemotherapy infusion stations, six private treatment rooms and a café. The $29 million project, which was designed by the Orlando office of Heery Design, will also include a 158-car parking deck. Delivery is slated for early 2010.

LA MESA, CALIF. — Ledcor Construction Inc. has completed a five-story, 66,000-square-foot medical office building in La Mesa. Located on the Grossmont Hospital Campus, the $9.6 million project features two machineroomless elevators, five built-out lobbies, a trash enclosure and a solar crosswalk. Additionally, the property features a seven-level parking structure, which is currently under construction by Ledcor. Pacific Medical Buildings owns the property. HDR provided architectural services for the project.

RANCHO BERNARDO, CALIF. — Kilroy Realty LP, project owner, has completed the development of a 150,677-square-foot medical office building on Lot 2 at Innovation Corporate Center in Rancho Bernardo. The five-story building features 100,000 square feet of outpatient medical clinic space and 50,677 square feet of professional office space. Additionally, the property features a six-level, 205,000-square-foot parking structure. Scripps Health is expected to occupy the building. San Diego-based Pacific Cornerstone Architects designed the $53 million project. LBL Architects was retained by Scripps Health to design the medical portion of the project. Reno Contracting served as general contractor.

MURRIETA, CALIF. — McCarthy Building Companies Inc. is nearing completion for the 72,000-square-foot expansion of the Women’s Center emergency room at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta. Located at 25500 Medical Center Dr., the $32.38 million project comprises a two-story, cast-in-place concrete building with stud framing, plaster exteriors and punched windows. The company is also performing site work at the 5.5-acre property, including construction of a 252-space parking lot. Completion is slated for early November. McCarthy was tapped for the project by Universal Health Services Inc.

CARLSBAD, CALIF. — Ledcor Construction Inc. has completed tenant improvement (T.I.) construction for the new 45,000-square-foot medical office facility at Scripps Health, which is located within the Carlsbad Medical Center in Carlsbad. The new facility features a radiology section, nurses call stations, extensive radiused walls and custom millwork. Ledcor was retained directly by Scripps Health for the $3.75 million project. Perkins & Will provided architectural services.

RANCHO BERNARDO, CALIF. — San Diego-based Reno Contracting, acting as general contractor on behalf of Kilroy Realty Corp., has completed the construction of Scripps Clinic in Rancho Bernardo. The six-story, 150,000-square-foot facility features a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center and recovery bays, a fully digital radiology department, MRI facilities, general surgery and organ transplant services, an expanded urgent care center and a sports medicine unit, as well as space to provide primary care services. Additionally, the $51 million center offers an Ambulatory Surgery Center and a five-level concrete parking structure. Kilroy Realty, the developer of the building, originally contracted Reno to construct the shell and core of the property.
