FAIRFIELD, CALIF. – A 60,000-square-foot warehouse/distribution facility in Fairfield has sold to DBI Properties for an undisclosed sum. The building is located at 2449 S. Watney Way. DBI Properties is the real estate entity of DBI Beverage, Inc., a national beer distributor. The company plans to use this location for distribution. It was represented by Tim Schmid and Trevor Buck of Cassidy Turley. The seller, Watney D&S, was represented by Matt Bracco, Glen Dowling and Chris Neeb of Cushman & Wakefield’s Marin/North Bay & Walnut Creek offices.

LAS VEGAS – The $43-million expansion of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC) and Joiners of America International Training Center has been completed in Las Vegas. The facility now includes a 220,000-square-foot building that will provide a variety of training resources for UBC members. The new facility includes shop space, more than 30 classrooms, two large meeting halls, and a display area and museum. The center now boasts a total of 365,000 square feet. The center’s expansion began in September 2012. An opening ceremony is scheduled for early next year. Construction was completed by the PENTA Building Group. Many UBC members, who were trained by the Carpenters International Training Fund, contributed to this project. The center provides in-depth training to regional instructors and union members in the U.S. and Canada. The United Brotherhood of Carpenters contains nearly 500,000 members and more than 200 training centers across North America. The facility originally opened in 2001.
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Reading, Pa.-based Sweet Street Desserts Inc. has purchased a 120,000-square-foot property at 1916 Piedmont Highway in Greenville. The building, a former Sara Lee facility, will be Sweet Street’s new manufacturing facility. The gourmet dessert maker expects to begin operations from its new facility beginning in summer 2014. The new property is expected to generate 80 new jobs in the next several years.
BOSTON — EagleBridge Capital has arranged $1.6 million in financing for 61-83 Braintree St. in the Brighton section of Boston on behalf of 6183 Associates. The 20,000-square-foot, two-story industrial building is located on a 30,500-square-foot parcel bordering the Massachusetts Turnpike. The building is triple-net leased to Thompson Durkee, which sells plumbing, heating and cooling equipment and supplies for home and industrial use. HASLET, TEXAS — Bentall Kennedy has acquired a 1.1 million-square-foot distribution center in the Fort Worth suburb of Haslet. The facility, fully leased by Amazon.com for the next 15 years, is located within the 18,000-acre, master-planned AllianceTexas. Hillwood Development Co. sold the property on behalf of an institutional investor. Features include proximity to Westport Parkway, high clear-height ceilings and a high parking ratio.

SHREVEPORT, LA. — Toledo, Ohio-based Libbey Inc., a glass tableware manufacturer, has plans to invest $20 million in the firm’s manufacturing site in Shreveport. The investment is expected to generate 70 new direct jobs and 70 indirect jobs, according to Louisiana Economic Development. The investment is expected to focus on glassmaking research and development. Libbey will also retail 511 existing jobs in Shreveport.
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Mensor Corp., a manufacturer of pressure and temperature calibration devices, has started construction on a new 45,000-square-foot flex facility in San Marcos, a northeast suburb of San Antonio. The $7.5 million building has broken ground next to the company’s existing 26,000-square-foot facility, which may be demolished following completion of the new development. The Greater San Marcos Partnership, a public-private partnership focused on job creation and increased investment in the surrounding area, provided business expansion services for Mensor including site selection, demographic and tax analysis, as well as incentives. Mensor expects the new facility to open in the fall of 2014.
FORT MILL, S.C. — Dallas-based Venture Commercial Real Estate has arranged a $39 million sale-leaseback with Northern Tool + Equipment for its distribution center in Fort Mill. Northern Tool + Equipment sold its 701,595-square-foot facility, which is located at 1850 Banks Road, to One Liberty Property. Clay Mote of Venture Commercial represented Northern Tool + Equipment in the transaction. Joe Owen of Dallas-based Owen Holdings Inc. represented One Liberty Property, a publicly traded REIT. Northern Tool + Equipment signed a 15-year lease at the distribution center.
NORTH AURORA, ILL. — USAA Real Estate Co. and The Opus Group have started construction on I-88 Gateway Logistics Center, a 604,565-square-foot speculative industrial building in suburban Chicago. USAA Real Estate Co. acquired the 32-acre site in North Aurora in September and contracted The Opus Group to develop, design and construct the industrial building, which USAA Real Estate Co. will own. The speculative building will be located at 1200 Orchard Gateway Blvd. The building will feature 32-foot clear ceiling heights, 60 docks, 103 trailer parking spaces, office space and future expansion capabilities to 1 million square feet. The project is slated for completion in June 2014. Opus Design Build LLC will construct the building, and Opus AE Group LLC will serve as project architect.
