CHICAGO — Testa Produce has broken ground for the construction of its state-of-the-art freezer/cooler distribution facility within Stockyards Industrial Park in Chicago. Located on a 13-acre site at 4555 S. Racine Ave., the property will offer 91,000 square feet of distribution space. Summit Design + Build is consulting on the project, which is designed to achieve LEED Platinum certification.
HOUSTON — Ashley Furniture has leased 303,000 square feet of warehouse space from Panattoni Development Co. in the first phase of the firm's Airtex Industrial Center. The 486,720-square-foot, Class A property, which was completed last fall, is located at 14810 North Freeway in Houston. Ashley's lease brings the building's occupancy to 88 percent. Airtex also houses Velocity Acquisition I and Ozburn Hessey Logistics. Jeff Venghaus and Ryan Fuselier of Jones Lang LaSalle represented Ashley Furniture in the lease. Gary Mabray, Walker Barnett and Justin Bennett of Colliers Houston represented Panattoni.
CHEBOYGAN, LAPEER AND WEST BRANCH, MICH. — Wal-Mart Stores East recently leased three industrial/flex properties in Michigan. The entity leased a 35,000-square-foot space at 502 Main St. in Cheboygan; a 45,000-square-foot property located at 2171 N. Lapeer in Lapeer; and a 30,650-square-foot space at 2085 W. M-55 in West Branch. Brent Beshears of Colliers International represented the tenant in all three transactions. The landlords and terms of the leases were not released.
KANSAS CITY, KAN. — Heartland Mechanical has purchased a 21,897-square-foot industrial property in Kansas City. The property, which is located at 720 Kindleberger, sold for an undisclosed price. The seller was Blue Valley Investment Corp. Paul Neal of Grindstone Industrial Properties brokered the transaction.
NORTH HAVEN, CONN. — Press/Cuozzo Commercial Services has completed the sale of a 4,960-square-foot flex building located at 340 Old Maple Ave. in North Haven. The buyer, JPK Unlimited, plans to renovate the property and take occupancy in early May. Albert Scafati of Press/Cuozzo represented the seller, New England Lathing Co. Joe Cifarelli represented the buyer. The property traded for $407,500.
TAMPA, FLA. — RREEF has sold the 260,000-square-foot Hampton Oaks Business Park to Foundation Realty Advisors for $18.4 million. The Tampa industrial and office property is 95 percent leased to tenants including XO Communications and Direct Administration. Cushman & Wakefield represented the seller. Foundation Realty Advisors represented itself in the transaction.
LARGO, FLA. — ProPeke Power has purchased the 55,735-square-foot former Clearwater Mattress warehouse from a private seller for $1.25 million. The property, which is located at 1185 Gooden Crossing Road in Largo, sits on 2.51 acres of land. The Ross Realty Group's Elliott Ross and Dennis Bush represented the seller.
POMPANO BEACH, FLA. — Carrier Enterprise has signed a 68,000-square-foot lease with Park Central Industrial for Pompano Beach warehouse space. The property is located at 3760 Park Central Blvd. CB Richard Ellis' Travis Sapaugh, Seth Kelly and Tony Hoover represented the tenant.
PLAINFIELD, IND. — Opus North Corp. has leased 201,000 square feet of space to s2f worldwide LLC, a startup provider of supply chain and logistics services. The facility is located within Plainfield Business Center at Airwest 9 in Plainfield. The company plans to use the facility for its headquarters and warehousing activity. The firm plans to invest $10.8 million to lease and equip the new facility. Additional terms of the lease were not provided.
