CEDAR HILL, TEXAS — Dallas-based The MGHerring Group has completed development on the Uptown Village at Cedar Hill, a lifestyle center located at FM 1382 and Highway 67 in Cedar Hill. The 725,000-square-foot retail center, which initially broke ground in June 2006, has opened various retailers and will continue to do so through this summer. Retailers currently open at the shopping center include Dillard’s, Coldwater Creek, Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, Hollister, American Eagle Outfitters, Buckle, Aeropostale, Aveda, Finish Line, Champs and Matt’s Rancho Martinez. Dillard’s will anchor Uptown Village along with Barnes & Noble (opening in April) and Dick’s Sporting Goods (opening in July). The center also houses 27,000 square feet of office space.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CALIF. — Phoenix-based Opus West is developing Opus Corporate Center at Westlake Village, a $180 million mixed-use development located at the junction of U.S. 101 Freeway and Lindero Canyon Road in Westlake Village. The 435,000-square-foot center will feature twin Class A office buildings totaling 361,000 square feet, three freestanding restaurant pads, a 45,000-square-foot fitness facility and 8,000 square feet of service retail. The project is slated to break ground in April, with completion expected in first quarter 2009. Opus Architects & Engineers is the project designer, while Opus West Construction Corp. is serving as general contractor.

The project will include 180 townhomes, 225 apartment units, 435,000 square feet of office space, a 200,000-square-foot convention center, 1,350-space parking structure and 42,000 square feet of retail space, which includes an 8,000-square-foot restaurant. The project will also include a 20,000-seat stadium and entertainment complex. Construction is slated to begin this fall and will be completed in phases over the next 5 years.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Live Oak Capital Ltd. has arranged financing for the development of The Austonian, a mixed-use project located at the corner of Second Street and Congress Avenue in Austin. The 56-story, 188-unit residential property, which is being developed by Second Congress Ltd., also will feature 16,500 square feet of retail space. The project, which is being designed by Ziegler Cooper Architects, is scheduled for completion in 2010. Live Oak Capital arranged the 5-year, undisclosed loan for the development with Aareal Bank AG.
ROSEVILLE, CALIF. — Glimcher Ventures Southwest LLC (GVSW) is developing Highland Village, a 15-acre mixed-use development located in Roseville. Situated on the corner of Roseville Parkway and Gibson Drive, the $100 million, 225,000-square-foot development will offer retail and restaurant space and two Hyatt-affiliated hotels, a Hyatt Summerfield Suites and a 151-room Hyatt Place. Additional tenants include Champs Americana, El Paso Grill & Bar-B-Que and Three Tomatoes & a Mozzarella Pronto. Construction of the project is scheduled to begin in April, with completion slated for May 2009.
LOS ANGELES — J.H. Snyder Co. has broken ground for the construction of the final phase of NoHo Commons, a mixed-use development located in the North Hollywood area of Los Angeles. Located at the corner of Lankershim and Weddington, the final phase consists of a 30,000-square-foot, seven-screen movie theater being developed by Laemmle Theatre; a 182,000-square-foot office building with 10,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space; and a 700-space parking garage. As part of North Hollywood’s revitalization program, the project also features the restored historic San Fernando Valley diner. The final phase is a joint venture between J.H. Snyder Co. and the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles to redevelop and construct a transit oriented development near the North Hollywood station. The three-phase, $375 million NoHo Commons project currently consists of 730 residential units and 60,000 square feet of retail/commercial space.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FLA. — Crosland will open MiraBay Village, a 31-acre mixed-use center in southern Hillsborough County’s Apollo Beach, this fall. The coastal-themed development is anchored by a 50,000-square-foot Sweetbay supermarket and includes 146,000 square feet of specialty shops, restaurants and office space, in addition to 100 townhomes. Florida-based api(+) was the project architect. MiraBay Village is located on the perimeter of MiraBay, a 750-acre waterfront community, near Tampa, Fla.
