COLUMBUS, OHIO — Wilks Broadcasting has signed a 10-year lease for 10,600 square feet of office space at 2400 Corporate Exchange Dr. in Columbus. The company is national owner and operator of more than 21 radio stations including Q-FM 96 in Columbus. Christopher Potts and Benjamin Johnson of Colliers International represented the owner, Corex Partners, in the transaction. WAWARSING, N.Y. — Nevele Investors LLC has closed on the purchase of Nevele Grande Hotel and Country Club in Wawarsing. The investment group seeks to develop casino gaming at the facility, which must be approved by the state. If approved, the new owners anticipate a $500 million redevelopment to transform the site into a resort and casino. Nevele also plans to preserve the hotel's iconic elements, including the tower, entrance lobby and ice rink and reopen its professional golf course. The hotel, which has been closed since 2009, had slipped into receivership.
BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. — Washington Trust has provided a $10.3 million loan to an affiliate of MCR Development for the financing of a 128-room hotel. The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Long Island Brookhaven is located at 2 Sawgrass Dr. in Brookhaven. Cate Fusco of Washington Trust served as lead lender for the project.
BOSTON — Stuart Dean, an architectural restoration services firm, has started rehabbing a century-old hotel in Boston, known as Fairmont Copley Plaza. The $20 million project is mostly confined to the hotel's 384 guest bathrooms where crews will polish the marble flooring, regrout and seal the marble walls. The project is expected to be complete prior to the hotel's centennial celebration this summer. The hotel will remain open throughout the renovation.
NEW YORK CITY — A vacant industrial property at 1621-29 61st Street, located between 16th and 17th avenues in Brooklyn, has sold for $1.7 million. The site includes 8,000 square feet and currently contains a 6,000-square-foot commercial building. The undisclosed buyer plans to build a synagogue on the site. Jeffrey Shalom and Brian Hanson of Massey Knakal Realty Services represented both parties in the transaction.
DALLAS — Beck Ventures has purchased the 1.65 million-square-foot Valley View Center, a regional mall located at the intersection of Preston Road and LBJ Freeway in Dallas, to be part of a $2 billion mixed-use project known as Dallas Midtown. Jack Crews, John Alvarado and Evan Stone of Jones Lang LaSalle represented the seller, LNR Partners, in the transaction.
HOUSTON — Wood Partners has plans to build the 256-unit Alta Heights, an apartment community located at 145 Heights Blvd. in Houston's Washington Corridor. The community will include amenities such as granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, under-mount sinks, subway tile backsplashes, washer/dryers included and garden tubs in select units. The property will also offer a courtyard, pool, outdoor kitchen with TV, a fitness center and a club room with kitchen and bar areas. Womack + Hampton has designed the property and Heights Avenue Builders will complete construction, which is slated to begin May 2012 and be completed by October 2013.
HOUSTON — HFF has arranged the sale of the 256,265-square-foot Commerce Center, an eight-building industrial property located at 9000 SW Freeway in southwest Houston. The property is leased to 40 tenants. Rusty Tamlyn and Trent Agnew of HFF represented the seller, Insite Commercial Real Estate, in the transaction. Agarita Management purchased the property. Kirk Oden of Trinity Finance's San Antonio office arranged acquisition financing through American Family Life Insurance.
