WYLIE — B&B Theatres has begun construction of a 12-screen movie theater, located along FM 544 and Country Club Road in Wylie. Lewisville-based Parkway Construction Co. is the general contractor for the theater, which is slated to open in April 2013. The all-digital projection theater will feature stadium seating, leather high-back rocker-style seats and wall-to-wall curved screens.

EL PASO — Best Buy has signed a lease to open a 37,740-square-foot store at The Fountains at Farah, a 600,000-square-foot power lifestyle center located at the northeast corner of Interstate 10 and Hawkins Boulevard in El Paso. The center is under construction and will open in the fall of 2013. Susan Ridley of Venture Commercial represented Best Buy in the lease transaction, and West Miller of Centergy Retail represented the landlord.

MISSION, KAN. — FREEBIRDS World Burrito has opened its first location in Kansas, located at 6029 Metcalf Ave. in Mission. The restaurant was founded in 1987 in California. The menu includes burritos with freshly chopped veggies, house-made rice and beans and grass-fed beef. FB Midwest Development, a franchisee for the chain, is also reportedly looking to open up an additional site in Mission, as well as locations in Columbia, Mo.; Omaha, Neb.; and Wichita, Kan.

SCHAUMBURG, ILL. — An affiliate of LEM Equities has purchased a 5,037-square-foot freestanding retail site in Schaumburg for $1.2 million. The property is located at 20 South Roselle Road and is occupied by Coldwell Banker. Stephen Lieberman and John Abuja of Marcus & Millichap represented the seller, Crosstown Real Estate Advisors. They also represented the buyer.

BARNEGAT, N.J. — Levin Management has signed Big Lots as the new anchor for Bayshore Plaza in Barnegat, which is slated to open in August. The broadline closeout retailer has signed a lease to fill 31,612 square feet, formerly occupied by A&P. The center is located on Route 9 on Bay Shore Drive. Levin Management represented the property owner in the transaction.

HOUSTON — Marcus & Millichap has arranged the sale of a 2,520-square-foot retail property net-leased to Whataburger, located at 17234 NW Freeway in Houston. Whataburger has operated the site, which is an outparcel of the 200,000-square-foot Northwest Village, for 24 years. Vincent Knipp of Marcus & Millichap's Fort Worth office represented the seller, a Colorado-based limited liability company, in the transaction. The buyer was a California-based partnership.

BOSTON — Linear Retail Properties has purchased two retail units on the ground floor of The Bryant Back Bay condominiums for $1.7 million. The acquisitions are located at 303 Columbus Ave. in Boston's South End neighborhood. The retail condos total 2,970 square feet. One retail space has been leased to The Urban Grape, a neighborhood wine store, which will open in September. Lease negotiations are under way with a specialty food market for the other unit. Michael d'Hemecourt of Boston Realty Advisors represented the seller, Vornado Realty Trust, in the transaction. He also procured the buyer.

SAN ANTONIO — Regal Entertainment Group will open Huebner Oaks Stadium 14, a movie theater located in San Antonio. The new theater will feature 3D movies; stadium seating; high-back headrests; capabilities for the deaf, hard of hearing, blind and low-vision patrons; concession stand and Regal Premium Experience (RPX) technology. Additionally, the theater can hold 2,700 moviegoers. The theater brings Regal's total portfolio of theaters to 519 operating in 37 states and Washington, D.C.
