GURNEE, ILL., AND GREENDALE, WIS. — Macy's has announced plans to open two new store in Illinois and Wisconsin. Both stores will open within malls currently be redeveloped by Simon Property Group. The first location will be a single-level, 140,000-square-foot store located within Gurnee Mills in Gurnee. The store will be built on the site of a former Circuit City and will open in spring 2013. The second location will be a two-level, 150,000-square-foot store located within Southridge Mall in Greendale. The former Younker's has been subdivided over the years and will be remodeled before opening in spring 2012.

FORT WORTH — Hulen Mall, owned and managed by General Growth Properties, is set for an interior renovation at Interstate 20 at Hulen Street in Fort Worth. The renovation includes all new tile flooring, soft seating areas, new signage, new paint, new lighting fixtures, escalator enhancements, and an upgraded energy management system. The completion of the interior construction will coincide with the completion of the new 22,000-square-foot outdoor restaurant plaza currently underway on the east side of Hulen Mall. Two national restaurants, Abuelo's and BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, are targeting November opening dates.
PALM CITY, FLA. — Awareness Technology has purchased the 79,000-square-foot, 9.15-acre Old Palm City Town Square, located at the northeast corner of Martin Highway and Barry Avenue in Palm City. The company will occupy more than 50,000 square feet at the center. The remainder of the center will be leased to retail and office tenants, including Hurricane Grill, Toro Sushi Grill and Ameriprise Financial. Boyd Bradfield, Jr., of Stuart, Fla.-based NAI Southcoast represented the seller, Bridgeville, Pa.-based Sorbara and Son Properties. He will continue to handle leasing and management for Awareness Technology.
EDINA, MINN. — St. Louis Park, Minn.-based RJM Construction has commenced work on a new Whole Foods Market in Edina. The 33,000-square-foot project will be built on the site of the former Storables and Thomasville Furniture at 7401 France Avenue. Completion is slated for next spring. ST. PAUL, MINN. — Jim's Market plans to open its fourth St. Paul location at Doddway Center, situated at the corner of Smith Avenue and Dodd Road in St. Paul. The new tenant is currently renovating the 24,800-square-foot space, formerly occupied by R.C. Dick's Foods. Improvements will include new flooring and a new façade. The grocery store will stay open during construction. Paster Enterprises is the owner of Doddway Center.
COATESVILLE, PA. — A 14,000-square-foot ground lease, located at 800 East Lincoln Highway in Coatesville, has been sold for $2.81 million in an off-market transaction. Walgreens Pharmacy recently signed a 25-year ground lease for the site and the previously existing 14,000-square-foot building has been demolished to make way for the construction of the pharmacy. The buyer, a charitable trust from the Western U.S. acquired the property in a cash transaction. Chris Datz and Anthony Sembello of Pintzuk Brown Realty Group assisted the seller, a partnership lead by Scott Homel, also of Pintzuk Brown Realty Group.
ORLANDO, FLA. — Toyota of Orlando has selected Choate Construction Company to build its new 100,000-square-foot facility. The 20.6-acre site will contain the showroom, collision center and car wash, as well as a Scion Sales Center, customer waiting areas, café and child's play room. Exterior site improvements include new wet ponds, retaining wall, screen wall, fencing and stamped concrete vehicle displays.
GAINESVILLE, FLA. — Van Wehr of Atlanta-based CB Richard Ellis' Debt & Equity Finance has secured an $11 million loan for the 103,871-square-foot Archer Square, located on SW Archer Road in Gainesville. The loan was provided by a life insurance company. Tenants of the two-buildling retail property include Kohl's and Walgreens.
CAPE CORAL, FLA. — Schottenstein Property Group has purchased the 71,444-square-foot Pine Island Marketplace in Cape Coral from Land Holding for $7 million. Tenants include Office Max, Dress Barn and Famous Footwear. The center's anchors, Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market and Kohl's, were not included in the sale. John Mounce of Fort Myers, Fla.-based LandQwest negotiated the transaction.
EAST GREENWICH, R.I. — Liner Retail Properties has purchased the 41,233-square-foot East Greenwich Commons, located at 507-563 Main St. in East Greenwich, for $8 million. The two-building property, anchored by CVS/Pharmacy, includes a Starbucks, Webster Bank, Kon Asian Bistro, Tio Matteos Mexican Grille and more. Geoff Millerd of Cushman & Wakefield's Commercial Real Estate Solutions in Seattle represented the seller and procured Linear Retail as the buyer.
