MADISON HEIGHTS, MICH. AND PITTSBURGH — Dick’s Sporting Goods has agreed to acquire outdoor retailer Moosejaw from Walmart. Founded in Michigan in 1992, Moosejaw operates brick-and-mortar locations in Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan and Missouri, in addition to its e-commerce platform. “We believe there’s potential to grow the Moosejaw business and provide compelling experiences and an expanded product assortment to its millions of loyal customers,” says Todd Spaletto, senior vice president of Pittsburgh-based Dick’s and president of the company’s specialty outdoor retailer, Public Lands. Moosejaw CEO Eoin Comerford will stay on following the acquisition, reporting to Spaletto. The deal is expected to close in March 2023.

INDIO AND PERRIS, CALIF. — Hanley Investment Group Real Estate Advisors has brokered the sales of two new properties leased by 7-Eleven in Riverside County. Two different buyers acquired the assets for a combined total of $10.1 million. Bill Asher and Jeff Lefko of Hanley Investment Group represented the sellers, TSC Perris LLC and TSC Indio Golf Center LLC, in both transactions. In the first transaction, a private investor acquired a newly constructed, 3,494-square-foot 7-Eleven convenience store and gas station at the intersection of Golf Center Parkway and Avenue 45 in Indio. The property traded for $5.1 million, or $1,474 per square foot. Rick Lazar of Lee & Associates in Riverside represented the buyer. In the second deal, a Los Angeles-based private investor purchased a recently completed, 2,950-square-foot 7-Eleven convenience store and gas station at Perris and Harley Knox boulevards in Perris. The asset traded for $5 million, or $1,695 per square foot. Pooya Dayanim of Beverly Hills-based Dayanim Real Estate Corp. represented the buyer.

EDEN PRAIRIE, MINN. — Marcus & Millichap has brokered the $2.3 million sale of an 8,276-square-foot restaurant property occupied by Buca Di Beppo in the Minneapolis suburb of Eden Prairie. The net-leased building is located at 7711 Mitchell Road. Tom Gommels of Marcus & Millichap represented the seller, a limited liability company. Alvin Mansour and Sim Liberow of Marcus & Millichap represented the buyer, a limited liability company completing a 1031 exchange.

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. — Copper Coin, a custom tattoo shop, has opened a 2,340-square-foot space in the West Grand neighborhood of Grand Rapids. Wesley Emert and Tina Emert of CityWide Real Estate Services assisted Copper Coin in securing the space at 436 Leonard St. NW. CityWide Real Estate Services acquired the residential and commercial building in August 2020. Additional tenants at the property include Alt City NA Bottles, Trinity Chiropractic, FURN on Leonard and Captain Bizzaro’s Treasure World.

MESA, ARIZ. — Phoenix Commercial Advisors has arranged the sale of Mesa Gateway, a three-building retail property at the southeast corner of Power and Ray roads in Mesa. The property traded for $11.8 million, or $371 per square foot. Totaling 31,824 square feet, the three buildings were fully leased to a mix of national and local tenants, including Verizon, Comerica, Jimmy John’s Sandwiches, Fit Body Boot Camp and Boba CuTea. Danny Gardiner and Chad Tiedeman of Phoenix Commercial Advisors represented the undisclosed seller in the transaction. The name of the buyer was not released.

AUBURN, ALA. — Birmingham, Ala.-based HPM has completed construction of the Tony and Libba Rane Culinary Science Center at Auburn University. The dual-purpose, 142,000-square-foot property houses learning environments for culinary students, as well as a boutique hotel, the 1856 teaching restaurant, brewery and a food hall. HPM served as program manager on the project and provided project management support for Auburn University Facilities Management during the pre-construction and construction phases. Auburn alumnus and board of trustees member Jimmy Rane helped kickstart the project with a $12 million gift dedicated to the building’s construction. The board later approved naming the facility in honor of his parents, Tony and Libba Rane. The property is situated at the corner of East Thach Avenue and South College Street in downtown Auburn. HPM also oversaw the construction of a $10 million, six-story parking garage nearby before breaking ground on the culinary facility in 2019. The design-build team for the property include architect Cooper Carry, facility operator Ithaka Hospitality Partners, the Auburn University Facilities Management department and general contractor Bailey-Harris Construction.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Stream Realty Partners has brokered the sale of 36 & NoDa, a 26,447-square-foot retail center located at 501-517 E. 36th St. in Charlotte’s North Davidson (NoDa) neighborhood. AJ Capital Partners purchased the center from Charlotte-based Ascent Real Estate Capital for $10.3 million. Jared Londry and Alex Olofson of Stream Realty represented the seller in the transaction. 36 & NoDa was fully leased at the time of sale to tenants including Salud Cerveceria and Neighborhood Theatre.

DETROIT — Locally based real estate firm Bedrock has unveiled plans for Development at Cadillac Square, a 1.5 million-square-foot mixed-use campus in downtown Detroit. The site is located near Ford Field, home of the NFL’s Detroit Lions, as well as Campus Martius Park and Cadillac Square. The development will feature residential, retail, office and entertainment space, as well as parking. Bedrock is owned by billionaire and Rocket Cos. founder Dan Gilbert, who with his companies has invested $5.6 billion in the purchase and rehabilitation of buildings in downtown Detroit, according to Forbes. Gilbert himself boasts a net worth of $18 billion and owns Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse — home of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers (also owned by Gilbert) — in Cleveland, Ohio, where his real estate arm is planning the Cuyahoga Riverfront, another in the trend of developing mixed-use projects around sports stadiums. Upon completion, the Development at Cadillac Square property will include 230,000 square feet of residential space, comprised of 250 to 280 units. HOUSTON — Wolfies Swim School will open a 16,800-square-foot venue in Houston’s Spring Branch neighborhood this summer. The space at 9336 Westview Drive will house two pools that will be designed to support swimmers of varying ages and experience levels. According to LoopNet Inc., the property was built in 1970, renovated in 2005 and was most recently occupied by 24 Hour Fitness. Harry Holmes and Charlie Neuhaus of Partners represented the tenant in the lease negotiations. The landlord was self-represented.

WARRINGTON, PA. — JLL has brokered the sale of Creekview Center, a 134,980-square-foot shopping center in Warrington, a northern suburb of Philadelphia. The grocery-anchored property is also home to tenants such as Chipotle Mexican Grill, Bank of America and Petco. Christopher Munley, Jim Galbally and Colin Behr of JLL represented the seller, locally based investment and development firm Goodman Properties, in the transaction. The buyer was not disclosed.
