MCKINNEY, TEXAS — Marcus & Millichap has brokered the sale of McKinney Shopping Center, 15,127-square-foot retail center located north of Dallas. Tenants at the center include Mattress Firm, Charles Schwab and Thai Noodle Wave. Philip Levy of Marcus & Millichap represented the seller and buyer, both of which were private investors that requested anonymity.

CANTON, GA. — JLL has arranged the $18.6 million sale of Hickory Flat Commons, a Kroger-anchored shopping center located along Hickory Flat Highway in Canton, about 34 miles north of downtown Atlanta. The 115,000-square-foot property was 97 percent leased at the time of sale to tenants such as Anytime Fitness, Mathnasium, furniture store Phillips Trading, Great Clips and Platinum Cleaners. Jim Hamilton of JLL represented the undisclosed seller in the transaction. Phillips Edison & Co. acquired the center as part of a 1031 tax exchange.

PHOENIX — Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) has brokered the sale of a retail building located at 1625 Camelback Road in Phoenix. An affiliate of Menin Development sold the asset to an undisclosed institutional buyer for $20.3 million. Target occupies the single-tenant, 50,428-square-foot property on a long-term net lease with fixed rental increases. The retailer opened the store, its first small footprint location in Arizona, in July 2017. Matt Berres, Samer Khalil and David Guido of NKF Net Lease Capital Markets represented the seller and procured the buyer in the transaction.

WILMINGTON, CALIF. — PSRS has secured a $1.5 million loan for the refinancing of a retail plaza located in Wilmington. The retail lot features a one-story, 6.500-square-foot building. Michael Tanner and Jonny Soleimani of PSRS Los Angeles executed the non-recourse, 10-year loan, which features a 30-year amortization schedule, with a life insurance company lender.

ATLANTA — Brookfield Properties has opened a new Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy at Cumberland Mall, an enclosed regional mall in Atlanta’s Cumberland-Galleria district. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Dick’s Sporting Goods will occupy the 70,000 square feet formerly leased to Sears. The Golf Galaxy, which will be adjacent to the Dick’s Sporting Goods, will offer in-store services and apparel and footwear from companies such as DSG, Tommy Armour, CALIA by Carrie Underwood, Field & Stream, Fitness Gear, Nike, Adidas, Yeti, The North Face, Callaway and TaylorMade. Golf Galaxy is a subsidiary of Pittsburgh-based Dick’s Sporting Goods. The stores will also host a grand opening event beginning today. In early July, Brookfield unveiled plans to redevelop the eastern portion of Cumberland Mall into a mixed-use property featuring 445,000 square feet of office space, 312 multifamily residences, 31,200 square feet of retail and restaurant space and 10 bus bays. Brookfield hopes to complete Cumberland Mall’s phased redevelopment in 2025.

MT. PROSPECT, ILL. — Chicago-based GW Properties has completed the disposition of a multi-tenant retail property in Mt. Prospect, a suburb of Chicago. Los Angeles-based Davidson & Associates purchased the asset for $3.9 million. Constructed in 1966 and renovated in 2019, the building is fully occupied by three tenants in the medical, restaurant and wireless service industries on net leases. The property is located at 920 E. Elmhurst Road. Alex Sharrin and Alex Geanakos of JLL represented the seller in the deal.

LOS ANGELES — Kidder Mathews has arranged the sale of a high-street retail property located at 10930 Weyburn Ave. in Los Angeles. A local family sold the asset to local real estate investor for $4.5 million. Located in the Westwood Village neighborhood, the asset features a 3,200-square-foot building on a 3,998-square-foot lot. The property offers two retail storefronts with more than 40 feet of frontage on Weyburn Avenue. Darrell Levonian, Tanel Harunzade and Brittney McCarthy of Kidder Mathews represented the seller in the deal.

CHICAGO — Navy Pier, a mixed-use destination on Chicago’s lakefront, will start a temporary pier-wide closure on Tuesday, Sept. 8, in an effort to limit the financial burden and impact of the continued coronavirus pandemic on the organization. The closure will stop all operations, including those of Navy Pier’s more than 70 small businesses. Access to the pier’s outdoor space, including Polk Bros Park and North and South Docks, will also be limited or prohibited during the closure. “While this was a very difficult decision for the organization, it was a necessary one to proactively ensure the long-term success of one of Chicago’s most treasured and important civic institutions and the communities it serves,” says Marilynn Gardner, president and CEO of Navy Pier. Per state and city orders, Navy Pier originally closed to the public from March 16 to June 10 and then began a phased reopening with appropriate safety and security measures. Through the reopening, Navy Pier was able to resume partial operations and welcome guests to the pier. However, the destination experienced less than 20 percent of its typical summer attendance. OVERLAND PARK, KAN. — Marcus & Millichap has arranged the sale of a retail property located at 6821 W. 135th St. in Overland Park. A private Overland Park-based developer sold the asset to an out-of-state family trust for $12.1 million. Sprouts Farmers Market and Crowley Furniture occupy the 56,837-square-foot Class A property that was built in 2009. The building is located within Corbin Park, a 1.1 million-square-foot mixed-use development. Ryan Bowlby and Drew Isaac of Marcus & Millichap, in coordination with Colby Haugness of Marcus & Millichap as Kansas broker of record, represented the seller, while Bowlby and Isaac also sourced the buyer in the deal.

ST. LOUIS — Phoenix-based Alignment Realty Capital has purchased four Sonic Drive-In restaurants located in metro St. Louis. The acquisition price for the sale-leaseback transaction was not released. The company acquired the four drive-in restaurants in a double-escrow transaction where a Sonic franchisee purchased the operations and real estate of a like-sized franchisee and simultaneously spun-off the real estate at closing. Banker’s Trust provided Alignment Realty Capital with a five-year, floating-rate acquisition loan.
