GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. — South Korean-based restaurant chain Bonchon is opening its first Michigan location at the Knapp North retail development located at 2365 E. Beltline Ave. in Grand Rapids. The restaurant, whose signature dish is Korean fried chicken and wings, will occupy 2,644 square feet. Pinnacle Construction Group is constructing the three-building development. Other tenants include Sherwin Williams and Sara’s Sweets. Doug Taatjes and Hillary Taatjes-Woznick of NAI Wisinski of West Michigan represented Pinnacle in the lease transaction. Chris Prins of Colliers International represented Bonchon.

HOUSTON AND SUGAR LAND, TEXAS — Breakfast chain The Toasted Yolk Café will open two additional restaurants in the Houston area, including a 5,000-square-foot restaurant in the Galleria area of Houston and a 5,954-square-foot restaurant in the southwestern suburb of Sugar Land. The Toasted Yolk will have seven locations in Houston following the opening of these venues, both of which are slated for August. Paul Vernon of Henry S. Miller Brokerage Co. represented The Toasted Yolk in the lease negotiations for the new spaces.

Jack-in-the-Box-St-George-UT

ST. GEORGE, UTAH – Faris Lee Investments has brokered the sale of a single-tenant retail property located at 1596 S. Convention Center Drive in St. George. An undisclosed seller sold the building for $2.2 million. Jack in the Box occupies the 3,260-square-foot property on a triple-net leased basis. Joe Chichester, Thomas Chichester and Matt Brooks of Faris Lee represented the buyer, a Northern California-based private investor, while NAI Excel represented the seller.

ATLANTA — Charlotte-based Asana Partners has acquired Krog Street Market and Atlanta Stove Works, two mixed-use destinations in Atlanta’s Inman Park neighborhood  that once housed Tyler Perry Studios. Paces Properties sold both assets to Asana for an undisclosed price. Situated across Krog Street from one another, the properties are adjacent to the Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside Trail, a former railway corridor-turned-multi-use trail. Krog Street Market houses a food hall and retail shops including Hop City, Bar Mercado, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Superica, Ticonderoga Club, The Collective and The Merchant. Atlanta Stove Works houses creative office space for firms like Media Star Promotions, Trees Atlanta and Atlanta BeltLine Partnership, as well as three restaurants — Rathbuns, Bell Street Burrito and Krog Bar. Paces Properties opened Krog Street Market in 2014 in a former 1920s warehouse. The Atlanta-based company acquired Stove Works in 2012. Asana will invest capital to enhance the properties, building on their appeal as central gathering spaces along the BeltLine trail. King & Spalding served as legal adviser to Asana, and Eastdil Secured arranged the transaction on behalf of Paces Properties.

DENVER — Chipotle Mexican Grill plans to divert half of all of its restaurant waste from landfills by 2020. Since 2015, the Denver-based fast-casual restaurant chain has made strides toward reducing the amount of food and packaging waste bound for landfills, increasing its diversion rate from 31 percent that year to 40 percent in 2017. To reach this goal, Chipotle and its partners are implementing several best practices to reduce the amount of food waste, adjust services, recycle and compost waste, audit its programs and donate leftover food.

Pinstripes-Fort-Worth-Texas

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Pinstripes, a Chicago-based food and entertainment concept, will open a 30,000-square-foot, two-story bowling alley and restaurant in Fort Worth. Located within The Shops at Clearfork on the city’s southwestern side, the venue will feature 12 bowling lanes, six bocce ball courts and private event space. Larry Leon of Venture Commercial represented Pinstripes in the lease negotiations. This location will be the company’s ninth in the country and first in Texas.

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OHIO — The Kroger Co. has unveiled plans to open its second Kitchen 1883 restaurant this fall. The standalone restaurant and patio will be located in Anderson Township, a neighborhood in greater Cincinnati. Kitchen 1883 features a menu inspired by American and international flavors, handcrafted cocktails and a community-centered atmosphere. The restaurant will operate for lunch and dinner daily along with brunch on the weekends. The first Kitchen 1883 opened in Kentucky in November 2017. Kitchen 1883 is one way for Kroger to redefine the customer experience through innovative concepts, according to Daniel Hammer, Kroger’s vice president of culinary development and new business. The name stems from the company’s foundation in 1883.

AURORA, COLO. — M&J Wilkow Ltd., along with MetLife Investment Management, has acquired The Southlands, a retail center located in southeast Aurora. Developed in 2005, the 1.7 million-square-foot complex features retail and office space. Tenants include AMC Theatres, Dick’s Sporting Goods, H&M, Bed Bath & Beyond, Barnes and Noble, Ross Dress for Less, Ulta Beauty and Best Buy. Additionally, the center consists of a traditional power center component, an open-air lifestyle component (known as the Town Center) with fashion, food and entertainment and office space totaling more than 917,000 square feet. Southlands is the third retail center co-owned by M&J Wilkow and MetLife. The name of the seller and acquisition price were not released.

BELTON, MO. — Venture Construction has broken ground on a 10,000-square-foot restaurant for Cracker Barrel in Belton, about 20 miles south of Kansas City. The property will be located on the southeast corner of 163rd Street and I-49. Cracker Barrel plans to hire more than 175 employees at the location. The opening is slated for this fall. This will be the 18th Cracker Barrel location in the state of Missouri.

The-Plaza-at-Riverbend-Timnath-CO

TIMNATH, COLO. — The Neenan Co. has started construction for The Plaza at Riverbend, a mixed-use retail center in Timnath, a suburb of Fort Collins. The project will total 39,000 square feet and include two freestanding single-story buildings with retail, office and restaurant space. The larger building will feature 23,000 square feet of commercial space. Studio 68 will own 9,307 square feet of space, slated to open by the end of the year. The second facility will feature 16,000 square feet of speculative commercial space. Serving as the project’s developer and design-builder, The Neenan Co. will sell the retail and office condominiums to each end user upon the project’s completion in late 2018.
