LAS VEGAS — DC Building Group, a Las Vegas-based general contractor, has completed a new Taco Bell location on East Charleston Boulevard in Las Vegas, marking the first Taco Bell in downtown Las Vegas. Architect Gary Guy Wilson designed the project. The project is the second of this particular design prototype in the Las Vegas area. DC Building Group used rusted metal on the corner sign façade and horizontal silver aluminum on the slat wall for its metal aesthetics. The wall has back-lit LEDs to illuminate purple EIFS creating a branded purple glow at night. Founded in 2001, DC Building Group is a general contracting firm with a focus on the Western U.S.

DETROIT — Galley Group has unveiled plans to open a food hall in the Federal Reserve Building, owned by Bedrock and located in downtown Detroit. The 8,646-square-foot space will feature an open floor plan with four kitchen spaces and a centralized full bar. Completion is slated for this fall. Applications are now open for chefs to submit their restaurant ideas and vie for a kitchen space. Galley Group is also opening a location in Cleveland this year following its two food halls in Pittsburgh.

MISSION, KAN. — Block & Co. Inc. Realtors has brokered the sale of a restaurant building formerly occupied by Runza in Mission, just south of Kansas City. The sales price was not disclosed. The 2,515-square-foot property is a pad site near the Mission West Shopping Center. David Block, Alex Block and Max Kosoglad of Block & Co. negotiated the transaction on behalf of the buyer, an investment group managed by Block & Co. The team manages the property and is in the process of leasing the space to a replacement restaurant concept.

DENVER — Quiznos has debuted its newest restaurant prototype, which will include a redesigned interior layout. The new layout includes a dedicated spot for online-order pick-up and orders made through the Toasty Points loyalty mobile app, as well as seating with power outlets to keep devices charged throughout a customer’s visit. Founded in 1981, Denver-based Quiznos is a quick-service restaurant chain serving toasted sandwiches in 35 countries.

LAS VEGAS — Dunkin’ Donuts’ has opened two restaurants in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and Biloxi, Miss. Further expanding the Dunkin’ Donuts footprint within rest stops and travel centers, the brand’s franchisees opened a total of 12 travel center restaurants around the country. The company also significantly increased its partnership with Pilot Flying J Travel Centers in 2017, accounting for five of the total 12 locations open throughout the year, with a commitment for an additional 20 in 2018. These new locations expanded the brand’s portfolio to include full-service restaurants, as well as additional self-serve locations. A Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee opened its first non-traditional location at the University of Hawaii in October. Eight restaurants on college and university campuses opened during 2017, including George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.; Binghamton University in Binghamton, N.Y.; and the second restaurant to open in the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo .

MOUNT PLEASANT, IOWA — Colliers International has arranged the sale of a 4,159-square-foot building occupied by Hardee’s in Mount Pleasant for $1.8 million. The property is located at 905 E. Washington St., about 50 miles south of Iowa City. Jon Busse, Joe Crotty and Josh McFadyen of Colliers represented the buyer, Kuhn Family Trust. Justin Zahn of Commercial Investment Advisors represented the seller, 4 G Properties LLC. Westar Food, a Hardee’s franchise with 36 locations, leases the property.

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. AND CHATTANOOGA, TENN. — CBL Properties has signed leases with five new restaurants at shopping malls in Daytona Beach and Chattanooga. The new dining options are part of the redevelopment of two former Sears Auto Centers, which CBL acquired in 2017. Bonefish Grill, Metro Diner and The Casual Pint will join the tenant mix at Volusia Mall in Daytona Beach. Tennessee-based Aubrey’s and Panda Express will open at Northgate Mall in Chattanooga. Construction on both mall redevelopments will begin in March, with an expected opening for all five eateries this fall.

MANITOWOC, WIS. — Panera Bread has signed a 4,300-square-foot lease in Manitowoc, about 40 miles southeast of Green Bay. The fast casual restaurant will occupy the space at 4626 Calumet St. Joe Kleiman and Dan Cohen of Mid-America Real Estate-Wisconsin LLC represented Panera in the lease transaction. The landlord was not disclosed.

VICTORVILLE, CALIF. — Cracker Barrel Old Country Store has opened its newest location in Victorville, which is the first Cracker Barrel store to open in the Golden State. The restaurant combines dining and shopping. Each Cracker Barrel location is decorated with authentic artifacts, memorabilia and signage collected by a team of Americana experts. In Victorville, Cracker Barrel’s new store celebrates the history and culture of the local area through decorative walls that pay homage to the famous Route 66, the area’s contributions to the film industry and to California’s Gold Rush era. Guests can also shop in the old country store for toys, games, food items, apparel, accessories and other items. Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. was established in 1969 in Lebanon, Tenn. Cracker Barrel and its affiliates operate 649 company-owned Cracker Barrel Old Country Store locations in 45 states and own the fast-casual Holler and Dash restaurants.

HOUSTON — An undisclosed private investor will develop Lyric Market, a 31,500-square-foot food hall that will be located at the corner of Louisiana and Preston streets in downtown Houston. The development includes the construction of an 801-space parking garage. Set to open this fall, the concept will include a bakery, sushi bar, ice cream shop and wine and cocktail bars. Matthew Putterman of HFF arranged an undisclosed amount of construction financing on behalf of the developer through Origin Bank.
