Venture Commercial Arranges Flix Brewhouse’s Lease for First North Texas Location

LITTLE ELM, TEXAS — Venture Commercial Real Estate has represented Round Rock-based Flix Brewhouse in connection with the opening of the company’s first north Texas location at Main Marketplace in Little Elm. The Flix Brewhouse concept combines movies, craft beer and high-quality food served in-theater. Flix Brewhouse operates locations in Round Rock, Des Moines, Iowa and Carmel, Ind., with another under construction in Albuquerque, N.M. The 35,000-square-foot location in Little Elm is expected to open in early summer 2017 on the northwest corner of FM 423 and Main Street. Venture’s Chris Corbin and Bob Moore represented Flix Brewhouse, while David Levinson of The Retail Connection represented the landlord.

Habit Burger Grill, Chipotle Mexican Grill Join Peninsula Shopping Center

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, CALIF. — Two restaurants have joined Peninsula Shopping Center at 67 Peninsula Center in Rolling Hills Estates. Habit Burger Grill and Chipotle Mexican Grill both opened 2,500-square-foot restaurants across from the Pavilions. The fast-casual chain Habit Burger Grill focuses on its signature Charburgers, salads, sandwiches, shakes and french fries. Chipotle Mexican Grill specializes in Mission burritos, tacos, bowls and salads. Peninsula Shopping Center features more than 45 stores and eateries.

Scooter’s Coffee Acquires Coffeesmiths and its Three Retail Stores in Iowa

OMAHA, NEB. — Omaha-based Scooter’s Coffee has acquired Coffeesmiths, a coffee company with three locations in the Cedar Rapids metro area. Scooter’s will own and operate the three locations at 7037 C Ave. NE, 2300 Edgewood Road SW and 690 Marion Blvd. Scooter’s will rebrand the coffee shops throughout the summer and began offering its menu items June 13. Scooter’s operates more than 135 stores in 15 states and plans to open 40 new locations by the end of the year.

Developers Sell Phase II of Willow Bend Commons in Plano

PLANO, TEXAS — A partnership controlled by Dallas-based real estate developers Roger Gault of Gault Co. and Robert Gunby of RTG Capital LLC has sold Phase II of Willow Bend Commons. The retail property is located at 1885 Dallas Parkway in Plano, and was sold to an undisclosed buyer. The newly constructed, 6,000-square-foot building is leased to Verts Mediterranean Restaurant and Ideal Dental. The partners purchased a 5.2-acre site from Costco two years ago for the development. Phase I was a 14,000-square-foot retail center that was 100 percent leased upon completion, and subsequently sold in 2015. Phase I tenants include Torchy’s Tacos, Shell Shack, Jersey Mike’s Subs, LA Bikini, Wok Box and Salada. In addition to the retail center, one pad site was sold to Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union, whose facility also opened in 2015.

Johnny Rockets To Open 14 New Restaurants in Malls in 2016

LAKE FOREST, CALIF. — Johnny Rockets plans to open 14 additional mall locations this year. In honor of its 30th anniversary, Johnny Rockets recently announced a brand refresh, which included a new restaurant design and logo. The new restaurant design, which was first introduced at Destiny USA Mall in Syracuse, N.Y., includes modern technology, a fresh design and enhanced staff uniforms. Since the refresh, the Destiny USA Mall location has experienced a nearly 22 percent growth in sales, according to the company. In addition to its mall franchise program, Johnny Rockets has expanded into outlet centers, which now attract more shoppers with higher-end retail stores and food offerings according to recent trends. The brand currently operates 18 outlet locations and is planning an additional five in the near future. Founded in 1986, Johnny Rockets operates more than 350 franchise and corporate locations in 28 countries around the world.

Novak Construction Completes Renovation for Panera Bread in Downers Grove, Illinois

DOWNERS GROVE, ILL. — Novak Construction has finished remodeling a 5,000-square-foot Panera Bread restaurant in Downers Grove, approximately 25 miles west of Chicago. Interior renovations included demolition, new millwork, fabric panels and wall coverings, new ceilings, light fixtures, specialty artwork installations, flooring, bathrooms and kitchen line equipment. Exterior renovations included new signage, metal canopies, ornamental and decorative façade elements and outdoor seating with an overhead trellis.

Novak Construction Completes 15,000 SF Portillo’s Restaurant in Downtown Chicago

CHICAGO — Novak Construction has completed work on a 15,000-square-foot restaurant in downtown Chicago. Portillo’s is a two-story eatery offering Italian beef, hot dogs and cake among other menu items. The project is the second Portillo’s location in downtown Chicago. The building features two patios, a drive-thru, an elevator and a vintage car on display.

Dynamic to Develop Dickey’s BBQ Locations in Midland and Odessa

MIDLAND and ODESSA, TEXAS — Dynamic will be developing sites for Dickey’s BBQ in Midland and Odessa. The Odessa location will be a 2,000-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru, and the Midland location will be a 3,700-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru and the potential for further expansion to include a second tenant. Dynamic’s Dan Porter worked with Dickey’s BBQ in the development of the restaurant plans.

Vitorino Group Arranges Sale of Shopping Center in Plano

PLANO, TEXAS — The Vitorino Group has arranged the sale of Willow Bend Crossing, the second phase of a newly constructed shopping center located near the southwest corner of the Dallas North Tollway and Park Boulevard in Plano. Bryce Gissler of the Vitorino Group represented the seller, a Dallas-based developer. The buyer, who was self-represented, is a Dallas-based private equity fund established to acquire core plus retail throughout Texas. The property spans 6,000 square feet and the existing tenants are Ideal Dental and VERTS Mediterranean Grill.

M&M Brokers Sale of 3,000 SF Net Leased Property in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Marcus & Millichap has brokered the sale of Dunkin’ Donuts, a 3,000-square-foot net-leased property located in Fort Worth. Vincent Knipp of Marcus & Millichap’s Dallas office marketed the property on behalf of the seller, a limited liability company. Dunkin’ Donuts is located at 9629 White Settlement Road, less than one-half mile from I-820. Dunkin’ Donuts has operated at this location since 2008 and recently executed a new 10-year lease extension with three five-year options to renew.
