ALAMO AND NICHOLLS, GA. — Turner Construction Co. will oversee the expansion and renovation of two Georgia prisons, an undertaking totaling $52 million. The firm will add two dormitory units, which will house 792 prisoners, to the Wheeler County Correctional Facility in Alamo. The remainder of the $27 million project includes renovating dormitories and common areas and installing a perimeter stun fence. The $25 million renovation of the Coffee County Correctional Facility in Nicholls also includes renovating dormitories and installing a stun fence. Completion of both projects is expected next June. Both facilities are operated by Corrections Corp. of America.

ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. — The design has been completed for Richman Group’s 156-unit Booker Creek Apartments in St. Petersburg. The property will be constructed on a former mobile home park. Amenities include a 4,300-square-foot clubhouse, a pool and a car care center. Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Forum Architecture & Interior Design provided architecture services.

MIAMI — Orlando, Fla.-based Keene Construction Co. is eyeing a November completion of the 67,931-square-foot Promenade at Silver Palm shopping center, located at the intersection of Southwest 232nd Street and Southwest 112th Avenue in Miami. The property, which was designed by Coral Gables, Fla.-based Alleguez Architecture, is anchored by a 46,031-square-foot Publix.

TEMPLE TERRACE, FLA. — GMC Properties has purchased the 252-unit Doral Oaks apartment complex from AIMCO for $10.7 million. The 266,912-square-foot property, which was built in 1967, is located at 105 Sunnyside Rd. in Temple Terrace. Two swimming pools, a clubhouse, a fitness center and a playground are spread across the site. Byron Moger and Luis Elorza of Cushman & Wakefield’s Tampa, Fla., office represented the seller.

WHITE PLAINS, MD. — Automated Graphic Systems has signed a lease with Demarr Investment for 104,000 square feet of warehouse space. The property, located at 4560 Graphic Dr. in White Plains, will serve as AGS’ printing facility. Joseph Casey and Thomas Burns of Cushman & Wakefield’s Baltimore office represented the tenant. Demarr was represented in house.

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. — The General Services Administration has tapped Boyken International to oversee the $32 million renovation of the Robert Smith Vance Federal Building and United States Courthouse, located at 1800 5th Ave. N. in Birmingham. After completion, the courthouse will be in line with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s standards and Silver LEED requirements. Plans are currently being drawn up, and construction is expected to start next spring.

SMYRNA, GA. — Westchester, Ill.-based Tri-Land Properties has set a construction date of early next year for its redevelopment of the 152,578-square-foot The Crossings at Four Corners shopping center. The property is located at the intersection of South Cobb Drive and Concord Road in Smyrna. A 92,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace will anchor the center, which is expected to deliver in early 2011.

The $11 million affordable housing community was constructed by Watermark Construction and designed by Forum Architecture & Interior Design of Altamonte Springs, Fla. The property features a 2,700-square-foot clubhouse, a playground and two picnic pavilions.
