ISSAQUAH, WASH. — Life Care Services (LCS) has commenced construction on Phase II of Timber Ridge at Talus in Issaquah. The 10-acre retirement community is located at 100 Timber Ridge Way N.W., at the base of Cougar Mountain. It is situated within the 630-acre, master-planned community of Talus.
Phase I of the project contains a 184-residence retirement community. Existing units feature large windows that promote natural light, wrap-around terraces and large stone fireplaces.
Timber Ridge also contains the Briarwood Health Center, which provides a continuum of care that includes routine wellness checks, short- and long-term skilled nursing, memory care and recuperative care services.
Phase II of the project will add 145 independent living apartment homes to the community. The new supply will feature 15 different floor plans ranging in size from 700 square feet to 2,273 square feet in a variety of one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. All residences will also feature patios or balconies.
Briarwood Health Center will also be expanded to include 26 assisted living/memory care apartments and nine private transitional care suites. The community will also receive an indoor swimming pool and auditorium. The $154.5 million phase is scheduled for completion in fall 2016.
Timber Ridge’s existing independent living apartment homes are 95 percent occupied. About 80 percent of the units being delivered in Phase II are already reserved, according to LCS.
Existing amenities at the community include a private restaurant-style dining room, cocktail lounge and café, fitness center, creative arts studio, putting green, bocce ball court, library, woodworking shop, salon, a business center and activity gardens and trails that connect to a variety of “discovery stations” positioned throughout Talus. The community is designed to enhance a seniors’ well-being, which includes an emphasis on fitness, nutrition and active lifestyles.
“Living at Timber Ridge also means more time for exercising a new passion or talent, activities with friends and connecting with neighbors while enjoying an amenity-rich lifestyle — a new generation in senior living where independence is enhanced with programs that offer choice, flexibility and control for a healthy lifestyle and longer, happier life,” says Jill White, the community’s marketing and sales director.
Timber Ridge is also the first senior living community in the nation to be awarded a LEED Silver designation. Phase II will be designed with the same eco-friendly specifications.
“We will continue to create Timber Ridge from natural materials and resources with environmental guidelines that will ultimately benefit residents and remain sustainable through the lifetime of the community,” White continues.
Timber Ridge opened in 2008. It was designed by Rice Fergus Miller. Phase II will be built by the Weitz Co.
Des Moines, Iowa-based Life Care Services is the community’s developer and manager. It is also the nation’s largest manager of continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs).
