RIDGELAND, MISS. — Jackson-based Mattiace Properties and H.C. Bailey Companies are opening Renaissance at Colony Park, a 57-acre, 500,000-square-foot lifestyle center in Ridgeland. The open-air center will consists of a 60 retail stores, 50,000 square feet of office space, five restaurants, five specialty food stores and a Hyatt Place Hotel. Tenants include P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano, The Fresh Market Market, Barnes & Noble, Ethan Allen, Ann Taylor and White House/Black Market, among others. The development will open in March, and is located on Highland Colony Parkway at the northwest corner of Interstate 55 and Old Agency Road.

REDONDO BEACH, CALIF. — Barry Silver, owner of The Silver Group, has brokered the sale of a 31,500-square-foot, single-tenant retail property, which is located at 1401 Hawthorne Blvd. in Redondo Beach. The Alexander Family Trust acquired the property for more than $12.15 million. Previously occupied by The Good Guys until 2006, the property is currently occupied by T.J. Maxx under a 10-year lease, which was negotiated by Silver. Greg Trotter of Coldwell Bank Commercial’s Sherman Oaks, Calif., office assisted with the sale transaction.

SAN DIEGO — Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Donahue Schriber has signed its first lease with Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market to open at Plaza Sorrento, a 98,000-square-foot retail center located at the southwest corner of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Camino Santa Fe Road in the Sorrento Mesa area of San Diego. A company of United Kingdom-based Tesco, Fresh & Easy will open a 15,000-square-foot store this fall offering customers everything from everyday staples to gourmet items, including prepared meals and organic foods at the company’s trademark affordable prices.

BOWIE, MD. — Chevy Chase, Md.-based JBG Rosenfeld Retail (JBGR) is redeveloping Bowie Marketplace, a 240,000-square-foot center located at the intersection of Annapolis Road and Superior Lane, into a mixed-use center. Main Street Marketplace, the new 185,000-square-foot, LEED-certified development, will be completed in two phases. Phase 1 will include the retail portion, and Phase 2 will focus primarily on the residential component. The retail phase will start construction in 2009, and is projected to be delivered in 2010. JBGR is negotiating with current tenants, Safeway and Rite Aid, to anchor the renovated center with new, prototype stores.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLA. — Wyotech has developed a 90,000-square-foot motorcycle and marine repair training school in Volusia County, located 15 miles northwest of Daytona Beach. The building features 12 classrooms, three motorcycle laboratories, a marine motor laboratory, a library and student lounges. Orlando, Fla.-based HuntonBrady Architects designed the facility.

SCHAUMBURG, ILL. — Elmhurst, Ill.-based International Contractors Inc. (ICI) has commenced construction of the first Legoland Discovery Centre in the United States. Located within the Streets of Woodfield in Schaumburg, the $3.7 million project will consist of a two-story interactive theme park. It will feature an approximately 32,000-square-foot play arena, which will include an adventure trail, a Lego factory, exhibits, the Dragon ride and a hall of super heroes built of Legos. The project is being designed as a variation of Legoland Park, an outdoor theme park located in Carlsbad, Calif. Legoland Discovery Centre is being developed by Merlin Entertainment, with ICI serving as general contractor. Architectural services are being provided by Chicago-based Byrne Design. Completion is scheduled for August.

WALLA WALLA, WASH. — Blue Mountain Plaza LLC has purchased Blue Mountain Mall, which is located at the corner of West Rose Street and Myra Road in Walla Walla, for $9.2 million. The 230,360-square-foot mall is anchored by Sears, Gottschalks and Shopko, which was not part of the sale. The sale also included an adjacent 22-acre parcel for expansion. Ron Allum of NAI Fuller Real Estate listed and marketed the property on behalf of the seller, Meyer Properties.

AURORA, CALIF. — Rob Edwards, Scott Wayne and Jason Ortiz of Marcus & Millichap have completed the sale and acquisition of Sunburst Center, a strip shopping center located at 16300 E. Quincy Ave. in Aurora. Johnson Investments Inc. sold the property to a Denver-based private investor for $2.6 million. At the time of acquisition, the property was fully occupied by multiple tenants.

GREENVILLE, S.C. — White Horse Plaza LLC has purchased White Horse Plaza, a 170,950-square-foot, 31-acre retail center in Greenville, from White Horse Associates, for $7 million. The property is located at 6119 White Horse Rd., and was 96 percent occupied at the time of sale. Tenants include Dollar General, Fred’s discount store and CitiTrends. Del Creviston of Sperry Van Ness’ Roswell office represented the seller, and the buyer was represented in-house.
