PHILADELPHIA — A joint venture between PREIT and Macerich has launched Fashion District Philadelphia, a 900,000-square-foot retail district housing dozens of shopping, dining and entertainment destinations. The $400 million project is a redevelopment of a former mall, the Gallery at Market East. A range of clothing and accessory retail options include Aeropostale, Burlington, Columbia and ULTA. The Fashion District also houses coworking spaces from REC Philly and Industrious. Other notable anchors of the district include City Winery, AMC Theaters, rotating art installation Wonderspaces, Market Eats food hall, mini theme park Candytopia and Yards Brewing Co.

SUMNER, WASH. — Bridge Development Partners has purchased a 3.8-acre land site at 3113 142nd Ave. East in Sumner, a suburb of Seattle, for an undisclosed price. The company plans to develop Bridge Point Sumner South, an industrial building, on the site. Slated for delivery in third-quarter 2020, Bridge Point Sumner South will feature 82,591 square feet of space, divisible down to 30,000 square feet; LED interior and exterior wall pack lighting; ESFR fire protection; 32-foot clear ceiling heights; two drive-in doors; 14 exterior docks; a 125-foot truck court; and parking for 63 cars. Thad Mallory, Taylor Huff, Cam Warren and Blake Bentz of Newmark Knight Frank brokered the deal for Bridge and will serve as leasing agents for the project.

DEARBORN, MICH. — Ford Motor Co. has unveiled plans to transform its Research & Engineering Center in Dearborn into a high-tech campus for its thousands of designers, engineers and product development workers. The heart of the project will be a new central campus building, which will sit on the site of Ford’s 66-year-old product development center. Construction of the new building is slated for completion in 2025. The new facility will help Ford speed product and technology innovation and attract world-class talent, according to a news release. Ultimately, the master plan envisions a campus of interconnected buildings that could one day house more than 20,000 employees. The new master plan is the result of a two-year research and planning process led by architect Snohetta. Plans call for an increase in public spaces and shared pathways, as well as coffee shops and restaurants.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Multifamily developer Presidium has broken ground on Presidium at Revelstoke, a 408-unit project located within Alliance Town Center in north Fort Worth. The property will be situated on 17.2 acres and will offer amenities such as a pool, outdoor grilling and gaming area, fitness center, dog park, playground and electric car charging stations. O’Brien Architects is designing the project, and Kimley-Horn is the civil engineer. Provident General Contractors is handling construction, which is expected to be complete in the second half of 2020.

MAYNARD, MASS. — Market Basket Supermarket will anchor the 306,000-square-foot Maynard Crossing mixed-use development currently under construction in Maynard, located approximately 23 miles west of Boston. The 70,000-square-foot store plans to hire 250 associates and will feature a full-service butcher and café with sandwiches, pizza and sushi. Capital Group Properties is developing Maynard Crossing, will include additional retail tenants and a 180-unit apartment complex called The Vue at Maynard Crossing. Maynard Crossing is slated for completion by the end of 2019. Additionally, Hawthorn Retirement Group is developing a 143-unit senior independent living community on the site called Camellia Gardens Gracious Retirement Living. General contractor JBJ Construction expects to complete this project by 2020.

KEENE, N.H. — Brady Sullivan Properties is redeveloping the Colony Mill Marketplace, an existing 112,000-square-foot mixed-use project in Keene, located about 50 miles southwest of Concord. Construction of 89 apartments is slated for completion by the end of fall 2019, and the property already encompasses Elm City Brewing Co., Keene Casino and NBT Bank. The mill was originally built in the mid-1700s and was traded and redeveloped numerous times before it reopened as Colony Mill Marketplace in 1983.

CHICAGO — Amazon has unveiled plans to expand its Chicago tech hub and create an additional 400 jobs in fields including cloud computing, advertising and business development. To accommodate the job creation, Amazon will expand its office in downtown Chicago by more than 70,000 square feet. This will double the company’s tech workforce within the city. Amazon’s Chicago tech hub is one of the company’s 18 North American tech hubs. Amazon employees in Chicago currently build and support products and services for Amazon Web Services, Amazon Advertising and the company’s transportation and operations units. Together with its customer fulfillment and retail facilities, Amazon has created more than 11,000 full-time jobs in Illinois and invested over $4.4 billion in the state since 2010.

ST. PETERS, MO. — A new apartment community known as 5300 Centre Apartments has opened in St. Peters, about 30 miles west of St. Louis. Developed by Propper Construction Services, the four-story property features 265 units across two buildings. The community includes two rooftop garden areas, one of which is designed for recreation areas while the other is designated for quiet areas with hammocks and outdoor yoga classes. Other amenities include a pool, rooftop lounge, fitness center, business center, covered parking, electric vehicle charging stations and bicycle storage. Renters will be able to choose from fully furnished or unfurnished units. Monthly rental rates range from $920 for studios to $2,585 for three-bedroom suites. 2B Residential is the management and leasing company. Zwick + Gandt Architecture served as architect while S.M. Wilson & Co. was the general contractor. A grand opening celebration will take place this Thursday, Sept. 19.

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, ILL. — Krusinski Construction Co. has broken ground on the new headquarters for Yamazen Inc. in Elk Grove Village. The 138,000-square-foot, two-story building will be located at 111 NW Point Blvd. Yamazen, which sells and distributes machine tool equipment and is a subsidiary of Japan-based Yamazen Corp., will relocate its current operations and staff from Schaumburg. Completion is slated for summer 2020. The facility will feature 50,000 square feet of offices, conference rooms and product demonstration areas. The distribution space will include two loading docks, two drive-in doors and 137 car parking spaces. The project team includes Cornerstone Architects Ltd., civil engineer V3 Companies Ltd. and owner representative Ketone Partners.

2727 Turtle Creek Dallas

DALLAS — Prescott Group has begun the demolition and early construction phase for 2727 Turtle Creek, a five-acre mixed-use campus in the Turtle Creek submarket of Dallas. The development will include an office tower, high-rise apartment tower and a hotel tower. Prescott Group imploded an existing, vacant nine-story office building and parking garage on the site early on Sunday, Sept. 15. The building was the former home of Republic Insurance, according to local media reports. Construction crews are clearing the site and beginning utility upgrades for the multi-tower development along Turtle Creek Boulevard. Prescott Group expects to finish the demolition and removal phase of construction by the end of the year and wrap up the utility and infrastructure upgrades in the first quarter of 2020. The office tower at 2727 Turtle Creek will rise 19 stories and span 285,000 square feet. Prescott Group plans for the building to feature a rooftop terrace, fitness center, conference and training center, bike storage and a full-service café.
