CAMBRIDGE, MASS. — Boston Properties will develop a 417,000-square-foot, build-to-suit office building at 325 Main St. in the Kendall Square area of Cambridge for Google, which has signed a 362,000-square-foot lease. Construction of the 16-story property, which will be built at the current site of 3 Cambridge Center, will begin later this year. Completion of the building, which will also house 42,000 square feet of retail space and serve as the tech giant’s new Cambridge headquarters, is slated for 2022. Pickard Chilton has been tapped to handle design of the project. Following completion, Google’s footprint in the area will exceed 800,000 square feet.

Crestview-Commons-Austin-Texas

AUSTIN, TEXAS — High Street Residential, a subsidiary of Trammell Crow Co., and Principal Real Estate Investors have broken ground on the final phase of Crestview Commons in Austin, a project that will add 226 residential units to the state capital’s supply. Phase IV of Crestview Commons, which is located in the city’s North Central submarket, will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom units ranging in size from 525 to 1,451 square feet. Amenities will include a pool, outdoor grilling areas, fitness center, entertainment kitchen, conference room, business center, rooftop club and package lockers. JHP Architecture designed the project, and Andres Construction is serving as general contractor. Amegy Bank provided construction financing. Leasing is scheduled to begin in March 2020.

PIM-Brands-Somerset-New-Jersey

SOMERSET, N.J. — CenterPoint Properties has broken ground on a 72,816-square-foot expansion project at the Somerset, New Jersey, manufacturing plant of PIM Brands LLC, a producer of candies and other sweets. The project will bring the facility’s size to roughly 250,000 square feet. Illinois-based CenterPoint has also signed a 15-year lease extension with PIM Brands. This extra space will accommodate new production lines and facilitate product distribution through the establishment of 40-foot clear heights, six tailboard doors and 20 auto parking stalls. Chuck Fern of Cushman & Wakefield and Bob Nathin of Sheldon Gross Realty represented PIM Brands in the lease negotiations. David Nenner represented CenterPoint internally.

Cadence-Rancho-Cucamonga-CA

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIF. — Cadence Living has broken ground on Cadence at Rancho Cucamonga, a seniors housing community in the Town Center neighborhood of Rancho Cucamonga, approximately 40 miles east of Los Angeles. Cadence is developing the property in partnership with Coyne Development. When complete, the community will offer 97 units of independent living, assisted living and memory care. The community is scheduled to open in the fall of 2020.

OLATHE, KAN. — Hunt Midwest, in partnership with Senior Living Group, has opened Benton House of Olathe, an assisted living and memory care community in Olathe. This is the partnership’s ninth Benton House community in metro Kansas City. Benton House of Olathe features 55 studio and one-bedroom units. The single-story, 52,000-square-foot building is situated on 4.4 acres. The Beacon Neighborhood is a secured area dedicated to residents in need of additional memory care services and support. Monthly rental rates start at $3,000.

DES PLAINES, ILL. — Seefried Industrial Properties, along with a European capital partner, has purchased a 3.9-acre site in Des Plaines with plans to develop a 72,000-square-foot warehouse on a speculative basis. The project will feature a clear height of 30 feet, 15 dock doors, two drive-in doors and parking for 86 cars. Located on Wolf Road, the property will have convenient access to I-90. Construction is set to begin in October with completion slated for the second quarter of 2020.

CHICAGO — Summit Design + Build LLC has completed the interior build-out of the new office for Golden State Foods in Chicago’s West Loop. The company, a supplier to the quick-service restaurant and retail industries, moved its regional operations from an office in Oak Brook following McDonald’s move. Golden State Foods now occupies 4,300 square feet on the fifth floor of an office building located at 322 S. Green St. The space includes a conference room, commercial test kitchen, customer experience area and guest lounge. Ware Malcomb served as the project architect and Cushman & Wakefield was the owner’s representative.

YAKIMA, WASH. — The Hotel Group (THG), a hotel management and investment company, has opened Home2 Suites by Hilton Yakima Airport, a four-story hotel located at 2420 W. Nob Hill Blvd. in Yakima. Constructed by Yakima-based Hogback Development, the 107-room property features a mix of studio and one-bedroom suites with en suite kitchens. Additionally, the hotel features free breakfast and laundry facilities. With the opening of Home2 Suites by Hilton Yakima Airport, THG now represents seven out of the 17 Hilton brands.

DETROIT — Olympia Development of Michigan has broken ground on a new five-story medical, office and retail building at 2715 Woodward Ave. in The District Detroit. Located between Little Caesars Arena and the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University, the 127,000-square-foot building will replace a former surface parking lot. The $70 million project will feature four floors of Class A office space and 17,000 square feet of street-level retail space. Tenants will include the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) and law firm Warner Norcross + Judd. DMC is the official healthcare provider for the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers. Christman-Brinker is providing construction management services and Harley Ellis Devereaux is overseeing the building’s design.

ST. LOUIS — Tarlton Corp. has completed construction of a $12 million parking garage in the Cortex Innovation Community within St. Louis. The new garage is five levels and offers space for 678 vehicles. Located at 4217 Custom Steel Drive, the garage is adjacent to a new multi-tenant building at 4220 Duncan Avenue that Tarlton completed in 2018. HOK was the project architect. The Cortex Innovation Community is home to 350 technology-related businesses.
