SEATTLE — Áegis Living has opened the doors on Áegis of West Seattle, an 83-unit assisted living and memory care community in Seattle. The project was designed to look like a Mediterranean resort. Áegis’ most recent communities are designed on such themes. Its community under construction on nearby Mercer Island is lodge-themed, and the company recently opened an Italian-themed community in Seattle. Áegis Living is a Bellevue-based developer and operator with 31 seniors housing communities in Washington, California and Nevada.

NEW YORK CITY — New York-based art, fashion and collections storage company UOVO is set to open a 150,000-square-foot art storage facility in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. Scheduled to open in fall 2019, the property will offer specialized climate-controlled storage designed to the standards of the world’s leading museums. The facility will be the largest of its kind in Brooklyn. UOVO: Brooklyn will be three stories tall and built entirely of reinforced concrete. The facility will also include four loading docks and two freight elevators.
ST. LOUIS — Tarlton Corp. has completed a $28 million renovation of two historic buildings that formerly housed Shriners Hospital for Children and Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis. The general contractor converted the adjacent buildings into a 160-unit apartment property known as The Core Apartment Residences. Amenities include common kitchens, a community room, game room, media lounge, fitness center and music practice space. The scope of work included restoring the existing masonry facade, window repair or replacement, installation of new mechanicals, plumbing, electrical systems and fire protection, paving and landscaping. The Shriners and CID buildings, both of which originally opened in the 1920s, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. BOBB was the developer and Lawrence Group served as the project architect.
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Publix Super Markets Inc. has announced plans to build a refrigerated distribution center in Greensboro as part of a multi-phase project. The company plans to invest up to $300 million in the first phase of the project, which is scheduled for completion by 2022. The distribution center, which will be located in Guilford County, will support the delivery of grocery products to Publix locations in the Carolinas and Virginia. The project is expected to create up to 1,000 jobs with an annual payroll of $44 million by 2025. A Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) approved by the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. (EDPNC) will enable the project to commence. The state estimates that the project will grow the state’s economy by $1.38 billion over the course of the 12-year term of the grant. “Publix’s decision to locate up to 1,000 jobs and a new distribution center in Guilford County affirms our state’s reputation as the ideal place to do business,” says North Carolina Commerce Secretary Anthony M. NEWBURYPORT, MASS. — Nauset Construction has finished building Port Healthcare Center, a 123-bed skilled nursing facility in Newburyport, located in the very northeastern corner of the state. Whittier Health Network, a family-owned healthcare organization with operations in Massachusetts and New York, owns and operates the facility. The new center is a replacement property, more than doubling the bed count of the original asset. Designed by longtime Whittier architect Ranere Associates Inc., the two-story, steel-and-concrete building totals 62,000 square feet.
ATLANTA — Mill Creek Residential has opened a 269-unit apartment community in Atlanta’s Vinings district. Located at 3205 Cumberland Blvd., Modera Vinings is located roughly 11 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta and less than three miles from SunTrust Park, the new home ballpark of the Atlanta Braves. The community overlooks a private body of water, dubbed Crossroads Pond, and includes a mix of studio to three-bedroom units atop 5,316 square feet of ground-floor retail space. In addition to the recently announced Kale Me Crazy, the development will house Highland Bakery. The Atlanta-based breakfast, brunch and lunch chain is expected to open in early 2019, marking the restaurant’s 11th location in the city. Community amenities at Modera Vinings include an open-air event space, swimming pool with sundeck, courtyard with fire pits, dog park, pet spa and a fitness center with a yoga studio and personal training sessions. Resident move-ins began earlier this month at the complex. Monthly rental rates at the community range from $1,510 for a one-bedroom unit to $3,648 for a three-bedroom, according to Apartments.com.
PHOENIX — Evergreen Devco has broken ground on Parc at South Mountain, a luxury apartment community located at 3400 E. Southern Ave. in Phoenix. Situated on 10.8 acres, the development will feature 258 garden-style apartment units with wood-inspired plank flooring, quartz countertops and stainless-steel appliances. On-site amenities will include a resort-style pool and spa. The property’s leasing office is slated to open July 2019. The project team includes Todd & Associates as architect; MT Builders as contractor; Kland Civil Engineers as civil engineer; and Collaborative V Design Studio as landscape architect.
MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Bucks have officially opened Fiserv Forum, the new basketball arena in downtown Milwaukee. A ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Sunday, Aug. 26. Construction costs were estimated at $524 million, according to local media reports. The 730,000-square-foot venue will also host Marquette University’s men’s basketball team and a variety of events such as concerts. Fiserv Forum will seat 17,500 people for basketball events and feature more than 12,000 square feet of video displays. MKEat is a locally focused food and beverage program implemented at the arena. Populous, Eppstein Uhen Architects and HNTB designed the project. Mortenson served as the general contractor. Founding partners for Fiserv Forum include BMO Harris Bank, Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, Johnson Controls and Miller Brewing Co.
AUSTIN, TEXAS — American Realty Advisors (ARA) has acquired Northshore, a 38-story mixed-use tower in Austin. The property consists of 439 residential units and 52,083 square feet of office and retail space. At the time of sale, Northshore’s residential portion was 97 percent occupied and its commercial portion was fully leased. Amenities include a 17,000-square-foot pool deck overlooking Lady Bird Lake, multiple outdoor kitchens and a 24-hour fitness center. Charles Cirar, Michael Wardlaw and Colin Cannata of CBRE represented the undisclosed seller in the transaction.
Progress Capital Secures $11.8M Acquisition Loan for Industrial Facility in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Progress Capital has secured an $11.8 million loan for the acquisition of a former manufacturing facility in Jersey City. The property is the former site of Elementis Specialties Inc. and is located at 400 Claremont Ave. The buyer, 400 Claremont Urban Renewal LLC, plans to redevelop the site into a mixed-use building with residential, parking and retail components. Progress Capital arranged the financing on behalf of the borrower through an undisclosed lender. The timeline for the project was not disclosed.
