HUTCHINS, TEXAS — Indianapolis-based development firm Scannell Properties has completed a 450,000-square-foot distribution center at 1401 W. Wintergreen Road in Hutchins, a southern suburb of Dallas. The rail-served property was developed as a build-to-suit project for Biagi Bros., a California-based logistics firm for the beverage industry. Ware Malcomb provided design services for the project and Evans General Contractors handled construction. The facility is the third industrial facility leased to Biagi Bros. in Texas.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Hill & Wilkinson has completed the renovation and expansion of Buckner GreenRidge Villas, a seniors housing community in Austin that provides housing and services to 400 seniors each year. O2 Architecture provided design services for the project, which delivered 69 additional one- and two-bedroom units and 70 parking spaces, as well as a central courtyard. The community will now be able to house and serve up to 138 more seniors.
CEDAR PARK, TEXAS — The Cedar Park City Council has approved a land use plan amendment for Indigo Ridge North, a 126-acre mixed-use project that will be located in the Austin metro of Cedar Park. According to plans submitted to the city, the project will include 100,000 square feet of retail space, 270,000 square feet of office space, 50,000 square feet of boutique office space, a 400-key hotel, 1,050 residential units and 120 high-rise residential units. Austin-based Thompson Morris is developing the project.
NEWNAN, GA. — Novare Group, in partnership with PointOne Holdings Development and Batson-Cook Development Co. (BCDC), has broken ground on a 298-unit multifamily development in Newnan, roughly 40 miles southwest of Atlanta. The development is the first phase of Village Square at Newnan Crossing, a 123-acre, walkable mixed-use development that will feature retail, office, residential and restaurant space, as well as a 10-acre park and a community plaza. The LINC, a 25.5-mile pedestrian pathway, will run directly through the mixed-use project adjacent to the new apartment community. The property will include a mix of rental townhomes; “Big House” style units, half of which will include garages; and traditional garden-style apartment units. Community amenities will include a business center, clubroom, fitness center, pool, outdoor grilling, bocce ball court, community garden, bike storage and a dog park. Humphreys & Partners Architects is the architect for the project, and Kimley-Horn & Associates is the civil engineer and landscape architect.
SARASOTA, FLA. — Ryan Cos. US Inc. and its partner Grand Living have started construction of Grand Living at Lakewood Ranch, a 172-unit independent living and assisted living community in Sarasota. The community is the third Florida partnership between the two companies. Development costs are estimated at $50 million. Grand Living at Lakewood Ranch will be located within the Lakewood Ranch master-planned development, near a new supermarket and a polo club. Ryan A+E is providing architectural services, and Grand Living will operate the community upon completion. A sales center is scheduled to open at the site in the fall. A construction timeline was not released.
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — SunCap Property Group has acquired 30 acres within Palmetto Commerce Parkway in North Charleston with plans to develop a new industrial campus. The project, dubbed Palmetto Trade Center, will accommodate two buildings totaling 375,000 square feet. The property is located roughly 17 miles northwest of the Port of Charleston. Palmetto Trade Center I will total 141,000 square feet and is scheduled to break ground in May. McMillan Pazdan Smith is the project architect, and CBRE’s Charleston office will handle the campus’ leasing assignment. The project marks SunCap’s third project in the Charleston area since the company’s inception in 2009.
MIAMI BEACH, FLA. — Miller Construction Co. is underway on Lincoln Eatery, a 9,600-square-foot food hall located on the ground floor of a Marshalls-anchored building at 723 N. Lincoln Lane in Miami Beach. Terranova Corp. leases and manages the building, which is owned by PPF 723 Lincoln Lane LLC. Architecture firm Arquitectonica is designing the $2.6 million project, which will feature 16 fast-casual restaurants, juice bars and artisanal coffee tenants. Lincoln Eatery will feature triangular beams in the ceiling design and full-height glass along the front of the building with streetscape views. Lincoln Eatery is expected to open in November.
BELTON, MO. — Marshalls, Party City, Petco and Five Below have opened as part of Belton Gateway’s second phase of construction. The $136 million, 47-acre mixed-use development is located west of Interstate 49 in Belton, about 20 miles south of Kansas City. Ross Dress for Less is scheduled to open later this spring. Developed by Christie Development, the property includes an Academy Sports + Outdoors and a Hobby Lobby as part of Phase I.
KIRKLAND, WASH. — The Wolff Company, an Arizona-based developer, has announced plans for Revel Kirkland, a 152-unit independent living community for seniors in the Seattle suburb of Kirkland. The five-story property will be located on the 12-acre site that formerly was home to LifeBridge Church. The project is scheduled for completion in 2019. Revel Kirkland is the 10th senior living community that The Wolff Company has developed since 2016. In 2018, the company plans to invest $300 million to $400 million annually in the development of new independent and assisted living communities, in addition to acquisitions.
CHARLESTON, S.C. — Madison Capital Group and Chaucer Creek Capital, along with their capital advisor Patterson Real Estate Advisory Group, have broken ground on Sweetgrass at Bees Ferry, a 192-unit apartment community in Charleston’s West Ashley submarket. Patterson arranged a construction loan through Dallas-based Bank of Texas on behalf of the developers. The property is located within a master-planned, mixed-use development and is across from a proposed Harris Teeter grocery store. The initial units are expected to deliver in summer 2019.
