BROOKHAVEN, GA. — The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club and Emory Healthcare have opened a 90,000-square-foot training facility and sports medicine center in Brookhaven, roughly 11 miles north of downtown Atlanta, on Tuesday. The privately funded Emory Sports Medicine Complex integrates four facilities: Emory Healthcare Courts, the official practice and training facility for the Atlanta Hawks; Emory Sports Medicine Center and Emory Physical Therapy, which house Emory’s entire sports medicine division; and Peak Performance Project, an applied sports science services provider for elite-level athletes from around the world. The Hawks’ new facility is the first in the NBA to be co-located with an entire sports medicine center, allowing for access to high-tech equipment such as a 3 Tesla MRI scanner, 3D motion capture analysis and blood/sweat testing and analysis on-site.

SAN ANTONIO — California-based video subscription firm Hulu has opened a 45,000-square-foot office in San Antonio that will serve as its viewer operation headquarters. The property is located at 4511 Horizon Hill Blvd., just off Interstate 10 on the city’s northwest side. According to local media reports, the center has already created 300 new jobs and will create an additional 200 by the end of 2018. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
CHICAGO — Spoke, a 363-unit apartment building, has opened in Chicago’s River West neighborhood. Morgan Bond. Co., a venture between Bond Cos. and Morgan Holdings, developed the property, which is located at 728 Morgan St. The transit-oriented development consists of a 15-story tower and a 12-story tower connected by nearly one acre of rooftop outdoor amenity space. Studio, convertible, one- and two-bedroom apartments range from 417 to 1,180 square feet with rents from $1,795 to $3,830. For renters seeking more space, a two-bedroom penthouse with a terrace offers 1,273 square feet of space, while three street-level townhomes range from 2,233 to 2,360 square feet. Rents for the penthouse and townhomes start at $6,490 and $6,600, respectively. Indoor amenities, encompassing 18,000 square feet, include a demonstration kitchen and party room, music performance lounge, gaming lounge, cycling room, fitness studio and yoga room. Outdoor amenities span the fourth floor of both buildings and include a pool and hot tub, cabanas, hammocks, grills and bocce ball court. GARDEN CITY, KAN. — McCarthy Building Cos. Inc. has completed DFA Garden City, a 214,000-square-foot dairy ingredients plant in Garden City, which is located in southwest Kansas. The plant, which has brought 66 new jobs to the area, produces whole and skim milk powder, nonfat dry milk powder and cream, and receives milk from regional farms. DFA Garden City is a partnership between Dairy Farmers of America and 12 of its member farms in southwest Kansas. The facility will help support the industry’s continued growth in the region, as well as meet rising demand for U.S. dairy, both domestically and globally, according to McCarthy.
VAIL, COLO. — Laurus Corp. has opened the 285-room Hotel Talisa in Vail. The hotel, formerly known as Vail Cascade Resort and Spa, is located at 1300 Westhaven Drive along Gore Creek. The asset underwent a $60 million renovation and rebranding. Hotel Talisa is Vail’s only true ski-in/ski-out luxury resort, according to Laurus. The hotel will offer regular events, including a social hour, complimentary once-weekly beauty treatments, s’mores served creekside, and yoga classes followed by champagne. Hotel Talisa also offers three culinary venues, each sourcing ingredients from local Colorado ranchers and farmers. Two Roads Hospitality will continue to manage the property.
CHANDLER, ARIZ. — LCS, Harrison Street Real Estate Capital and Ryan Cos. US Inc. have started construction of Clarendale of Chandler, a 262,000-square-foot seniors housing community in the Phoenix suburb of Chandler. Once completed, the Class A community will be located on 16.5 acres and offer 116 independent living units, 64 assisted living units, 38 memory care units and 14 duplex villas. It will be the sixth Clarendale-branded community in the country, and the first in the Southwest. Ryan Cos. is acting as developer and general contractor, and its architecture and engineering team, Ryan A + E, will design the community. Direct Supply Aptura is providing interior design services. Life Care Services, an LCS Company, will operate the community once completed. Clarendale of Chandler is scheduled to open in the spring of 2019.
DALLAS — The Drever, a 52-story mixed-use property in downtown Dallas, will undergo a redevelopment project valued at approximately $380 million, according to the Dallas Business Journal. The outlet also reports that developer Drever Capital Management recently landed a $67 million bridge loan through Starwood Property Trust, enabling it to move forward with the redevelopment. The project will convert the 1.5 million-square-foot building into a development comprising a 324-unit high-rise apartment tower, a 218-room Thompson hotel and undisclosed amounts of office and retail space. Dallas-based Merriman Anderson is providing architectural and design services for the project and Andres Construction is serving as general contractor. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2018.
EL PASO, TEXAS — Paul Foster, the owner of the Plaza Hotel in El Paso, will invest approximately $78 million in renovations of the vacant property, which was built in 1930 and is a historic landmark. Foster’s team plans to convert the building into a boutique hotel with a minimum of 100 rooms, as well as 6,500 square feet of restaurant and bar space and 7,600 square feet of meeting space. Construction is expected to begin in early 2018.
SAN ANTONIO — Bob Moore Construction has competed construction of a 100,000-square-foot call center for General Motors (GM) Financial in San Antonio. The two–story property is GM Financial’s fifth call center in North America. The building features amenities such as a commercial cafeteria, arcade room and a gym with locker facilities. Designed by San Antonio-based RVK Architects, the project is expected to create up to 700 new jobs.
ATLANTA — A 50/50 joint venture between affiliates of Atlanta-based developer Songy Highroads LLC and Hyatt Hotels Corp. has acquired a site in downtown Atlanta with plans to develop a new Hyatt Place hotel. Other terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The site, located at the corner of Lucky and Latimer streets, is located directly across from the Georgia Aquarium and one block from Centennial Olympic Park. An abandoned, two-story commercial building and public parking lot currently occupy the site, and both will be demolished to make way for the new hotel. Pricing, permitting and financing are underway, with a construction commencement date to be determined.
