LINDON, UTAH — WI Commercial Properties (WICP), a developer based in Tampa, Fla., is building out a new master-planned campus in Lindon known as Mountain Technology Center. The $200 million development is situated about 12 miles north of Provo in Utah County. WICP has already invested over $80 million in the 55-acre development and will be investing another $120 million before the project’s completion. The campus sits west of the Pleasant Grove Boulevard freeway interchange and features unobstructed mountain views with lake views to the south. At full build-out, the mixed-use development will feature 650,000 square feet of Class A office and industrial space spread over 10 buildings, as well as a food court off Pleasant Grove Boulevard. The new components coming to the campus include Mountain Tech North, which comprises an 88,000-square-foot flex industrial facility known as Mountain Tech III and the new food court. Mountain Tech III will be the first building with 32-foot clear heights in Utah County, according to WICP. Mountain Tech South is planned on the south side of Pleasant Grove Boulevard. DENVER — A joint venture between Confluent Development and Bradbury Properties has agreed to build three new office and industrial buildings in Highfield Business Park in Denver. The park is situated near the intersection of E-470 and Peoria Street, southeast of Centennial Airport. The first project was completed in June and now houses two tenants. The 101,000-square-foot facility (Highfield Building 5), broke ground in October 2016 as a spec development. The building is occupied by Charter Communications and Gateway Classic Cars. The second project is a build-to-suit development for EdgeConneX. The third project in the business park is a 92,000-square-foot spec industrial facility. The project will break ground in November, with project completion scheduled for spring 2018.

WORCESTER, MASS. — Senate Construction has completed the construction of a 615,600-square-foot distribution center located at 150 Blackstone River Road in Worcester. The property was developed by 150 Blackstone River Road LLC, a joint venture between Mid-States Packaging Inc. and GFI Partners. Imperial Distributors occupies 325,000 square feet of property, with G-3 occupying 200,000 square feet and Mid-States Packaging occupying the remaining space. Senate performed the design-build of the foundation, superstructure, HVAC, fire protection, plumbing and electrical work. Jim Thornton of Andover, Mass.-based Applied Form and Space Architects provided architectural services for the project.

MCKINNEY, TEXAS — Hunt Southwest has broken ground on a 202,270-square-foot industrial facility located at 900 Wilmeth Road near U.S. Highway 75 in McKinney. The property will be configured as a front-park, rear-load facility and feature amenities such as 32-foot clear heights, an ESFR sprinkler system, LED warehouse lighting, 43 dock-high doors and two acres of additional land for parking or outside storage. Construction of the facility, which is being built on a speculative basis, is expected to be complete by June 2018. Hunt Southwest expects to begin developing another 200,000-square-foot speculative industrial facility within University Business Park in McKinney during the second quarter of 2018.

LAFAYETTE, IND. — DoubleTree by Hilton Lafayette East has opened in Lafayette, 63 miles northwest of Indianapolis. The 128-room hotel is located at 155 Progress Drive off I-65. Dora Hotel Co. LLC will own and operate the property in partnership with local developer Roy Meeks. Amenities include an indoor pool, business center, outdoor courtyard with fire pit, fitness center and 3,000 square feet of meeting space. Executive Chef Raul Roges heads the on-site Made Market restaurant and lounge as well as the banquet department.

CHARLESTON, S.C. — White Point Partners has broken ground on Huger Street, a 190-unit multifamily development located between King and Meeting streets in downtown Charleston. White Point’s capital advisor, Patterson Real Estate Advisory Group, arranged a construction loan through Worthington Hyde Partners on top of a senior construction loan from Synovus Bank for the development. Huger Street will feature an elevated fitness center, sky deck pool and a café. Construction on the property is expected to take 24 months, with lease-up commencing at the end of 2018.

MACON, GA. — Amazon has unveiled plans to open a 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center in Macon. The new center will create more than 500 new full-time jobs upon opening, and will be the company’s fourth warehouse and distribution hub in Georgia. The e-commerce giant currently operates facilities in Braselton, Lithia Springs and Union City. Employees at the new facility will pick, pack and ship large-sized items, including household furniture, sporting equipment and gardening tools. New jobs will include warehouse, management and supervisory positions. The project is being developed in a partnership between Seefried Industrial Partners and an affiliate of USAA Real Estate Co. The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority entitled and sold the property.

TAMPA, FLA. — Skanska USA has broken ground on a research and academic tower for the University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute in downtown Tampa. The college of medicine will relocate from 12901 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. to the new 395,000-square-foot building within Water Street Tampa, a $3 billion mixed-use project from Strategic Property Partners. HOK is designing the 13-story tower, which will feature a 400-person auditorium, classrooms, study rooms and a series of spaces for informal collaboration and gathering. The new building will be located at South Meridian Avenue and Channelside Drive on an acre of land donated by Tampa Bay Lightning team owner Jeff Vinik. The building is slated for completion in fall 2019.

SAN ANTONIO — Hines will develop a four-story, 396-unit multifamily property within The Rim, a retail development located in northwest San Antonio. Designed by Meeks + Partners, the property will feature amenities such as a clubhouse, collaborative work room, fitness center, pool, game room and dog park. Units will range in size from 682 to 1,479 square feet. Construction is scheduled to begin during the first quarter of 2018, with occupancy slated for spring 2019. The project will be Hines’ first multifamily development in San Antonio.

HOUSTON — Allied Orion Group has begun leasing The Beacon at Buffalo Pointe, a 281-unit multifamily community located at 10301 Buffalo Speedway in Houston. The property offers convenient access to the Texas Medical Center and NRG Stadium, as well as the Galleria and downtown areas. Floor plans include one-, two- and three-bedroom units and amenities include a pool with cabanas, grilling stations, a fitness center, pet park and a cybercafé. Houston-based Steinberg Design Collaborative Architects designed the project.
