CHARLESTON, S.C. — A joint venture between North Signal Capital LLC and a fund managed by Westport Capital Partners LLC has purchased two industrial sites in Charleston with plans to develop a speculative building and a build-to-suit property. The sites, collectively referred to as North Pointe Commerce Park, will add approximately 400,000 square feet of Class A industrial space to the market. The partnership will break ground on the 250,000-square-foot speculative building this month, with delivery slated for September 2018. The build-to-suit project could deliver as early as September 2018. North Pointe Commerce Park is situated within 10 miles of the Charleston International Airport, North Charleston Terminal, Boeing and SPAWAR, the U.S. naval installation. Colliers International represented the seller, WestRock, in the transaction. Peter Fennelly, Hagood Morrison and Simons Johnson of Colliers will handle the industrial park’s leasing assignment.

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. — Asset Campus Housing has completed development of Domain at Tallahassee, a 125-unit student housing property located half a mile from Florida State University. Meeks + Partners was the architect for the project, which features a swimming pool, computer lab, study lounge and a fitness center. The five-story community offers a mix of one- to four-bedroom units ranging in size from 659 to 1,399 square feet. Domain at Tallahassee began leasing for students entering the fall 2017 semester.
JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Fisher Development Associates has completed Vantage, a residential tower located at 33 Park View Ave. in Jersey City’s Liberty Harbor North neighborhood. The 45-story tower features 448 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartment units. Designed by S9 Architecture, the tower features floor-to-ceiling windows, nine-foot ceiling heights, wood flooring, recessed LED lighting, in-home washer and dryer units, and energy-efficient systems. Amenities include a 24-hour concierge, cyber café, health club, children’s playroom, business center, conference room, screening room, dining area and an enclosed parking garage. Outdoor amenities include a swimming pool, lounge, landscaped area and full-court basketball court.
OPELIKA, ALA. — HDA Architects has announced that the construction of a 72,000-square-distribution center for Adams Beverages Inc. in Opelika is now complete. The building design utilizes brick, cast stone, tilt-up concrete and reclaimed wood. Adams Beverages is a full-service beer and non-alcoholic beverage distributor and a family-owned Anheuser-Busch wholesaler. HDA has designed over 150 beverage distribution centers nationwide with a team of six St. Louis-based companies: Gabriel Project Management, Murphy Co., Kasier Electric, Grimes Consulting, Color-Art and Alper Audi. McShane Construction Co. provided construction services for the project, which features a cold storage component.
EAGAN, MINN. — Minnesota Autism Center (MAC) has unveiled plans to expand its campus in Eagan by adding a new, 20,000-square-foot building. Peter Fitzgerald of Cushman & Wakefield represented the nonprofit organization in its purchase of nearly four acres adjacent to the current campus. Minneapolis-based Ryan Cos. US Inc. will construct the new building, and RSP Architects (RSP) will serve as architect. Cushman & Wakefield, Ryan Cos., RSP and several subcontractors have contributed various donations to support the newest development within MAC’s therapy campus, which will now include three buildings offering a variety of specialized autism services. Ryan Cos. broke ground on the new building in June, with completion slated for the end of the year. The original, 38,000-square-foot MAC opened in 2007.
SEATTLE — Amazon has announced plans to open Amazon HQ2, a second company headquarters in North America. The online retailer plans to invest more than $5 billion in construction. The Amazon HQ2 Request for Proposal is now open. The company is looking for a metropolitan area with more than one million people that boasts a stable and business-friendly environment. It is considering both urban and suburban locations with the potential to attract and retain strong technical talent. The new facility will be comparable to Amazon’s current Seattle headquarters, which contains 8.1 million square feet of space within 33 buildings. The new project will not be a satellite office. Amazon estimates its investments in Seattle from 2010 through 2016 resulted in an additional $38 billion to the city’s economy. Every dollar invested by Amazon in Seattle generated an additional $1.40 for the city’s economy overall, according to the company.
TUCSON, ARIZ. — Watermark Retirement Communities has opened The Hacienda at the River, a 129-unit assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing community in Tucson. Development costs were estimated at $21 million. Watermark will operate the community, which it developed in a joint venture with The Freshwater Group. The Weitz Company was the general contractor. The new community features a 74,000-square-foot, two-story health care center offering short-term, long-term and hospice care. Also included are 69 assisted living and memory care units spread over a 43,000-square-foot village of single-story homes. The property also houses a 1,600-square-foot stable to offer equine therapy to residents.
SACRAMENTO, CALIF. — Dick’s Sporting Goods plans to open three new stores in California in the first half of September. The company will have 711 Dick’s locations and 34 Field & Stream locations across the country. The new stores will open in Delta Shores in Sacramento, Stanford Ranch Crossing in Roseville and Solano Town Center in Fairfield.
BEE CAVE, TEXAS — Perardi Development will build Medical Towers at Bee Cave II, a 42,000-square-foot medical office property located at the corner of RM 620 and State Highway 71 in the Austin metro of Bee Cave. Scheduled to break ground later this month, the project follows the completion and pre-leasing of the 23,000-square-foot Medical Towers at Bee Cave. This second phase of the project could be completed as early as mid-December 2018.
PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. — Ridge Care Senior Living has secured an $11.3 million construction loan for the development of Arbor Landing at Pawleys, a 100-unit seniors housing community in Pawleys Island. SunTrust Bank provided the financing for the project. The new community will feature 60 assisted living and 40 memory care units and is expected to create roughly 70 new jobs in the Pawleys Island region. The project marks Ridge Care Senior Living’s entry into the South Carolina market. The Kernersville, N.C.-based company services more than 850 residents in 13 independent living, assisted living and memory care communities throughout North Carolina and West Virginia. Arbor Landing at Pawleys is slated for completion in summer 2018.
